Chapter 5 Chili payback

Kimberly waited impatiently while the shake was getting prepared. He told her an orange smoothie and then he lied to ruin her life? What a person.

Right now, she felt implacable hatred for him. If there's anything she can do to embarrass him like he did to her, she'll happily do so.

Five months! Five months he was gone for good and now, just like that, he's back, creeping into her life and deliberately hurting her.

If only they just ignored each other. She can't let him do this to her. His indiscretion towards her was obvious and she knew it.

She glanced at the kitchen. The shake was nearly done. She frowned, thinking. What is her revenge plan? she's clueless.

She entered the store room, slowly. And she was still cogitating.

Should she spill juice on him? Nah, it's like he'll see it coming and avoid it. Jeez. Then what?

Kim is such a good prankster so surely she can come up with a perfect payback.

Her eyes slowly studied the entire store room and it instantly caught a glimpse of it laying there. Kim smiled with relish. Right now, Nate is being annoying and there's no better way to deal with him than to lace his delicious shake with chilli–his weakness.

Dating Nate for almost two years now, Kimberly knows he has a lot of allergies which includes a lot of fruits, veggies and chilli. Even a drop can make him choke so badly that he can, if not nearly, vomit.

This was perfect. How dare he mess with her like that? Making her look bad in front of her boss? It's not fair and what she's gonna do will not be fair as well.

Something in Kimberly's mind dissuaded her from carrying out her plan but she adamantly refused to stop.

Glancing around, there was no one in sight although clanking of plates could be heard from the other room; no one was around, no one to stop her and a perfect opportunity to do this.

She rushed to the shelf, gazing around, touching and examining various bottles. Which one was chilli? There were lots of them but she wanted the extremely spicy one.

Finally she found it. And just immediately the door banged open. Kimberly impulsively hid it behind her shirt as some chefs walked in.

Seeing Kim here all nervous and awkwardly holding her shirt was confusing and odd. But no one had time to ask her as they rushed to do what they were instructed to do.

Seeing them move and go to thetr respective positions, Kim was relieved. She walked out steadily, discreetly tucking the bottle behind her shirt and finally exited the room.

Ultimately, she got the banana shake from the chef. Giving the bottle a little twist, she opened It and poured a lot into the shake. She was tempted to pour the entire content into the shake but restrained herself. It might alter the color.

It made her sneeze a bit. Oh gosh! She hopes Nate wouldn't discover before he even drank it.

Nate was apparently waiting for her, feeling restless. Nothing made him forget that stunt she pulled up at the party yesterday. Nothing! That's why he came here to mess with her

And after that he'll leave for good. He has no intention of disturbing her further provided she doesn't try anything stupid.

A moment later, Kim arrived with his shake. "Here you go sir, is this what you ordered?" Kim gritted.

Nate studied it for a moment. Kim saw him lean forward to scrutinize the shake. And it made her wonder if he suspected anything. Hopefully, he doesn't. But Nate's not a dummy– he might see.

Oh gosh! What was she doing? She hadn't even thought this through. Seriously, was she going to get fired? Rest assured Kim, you'll be fired if you do this. Dammit. She was really gonna get satisfaction from doing this. But not at the expense of her job. Maybe she'll think of another way. And now, she has to stop him.

"Erm.. let me guess, it's not your order. Don't worry I'll get another one," Kim feebly said.

But gosh is she really chickening out?

"Nah, it's good." Nate reached for his drink.

It's time to run, she thought with despair. He's already caused such a drama and him choking will definitely attract everyone's attention. They'd blame her, knowing it's her doing. They'd say she did this because Nate outrightly rejected her advances.

" I don't really think you wanna drink that," Kimberly whispered.

Nate merely spared her a glance as he scoffed, plunging it into his mouth. He immediately paused, dropping the glass at once. Kimberly saw it coming and caught the glass from falling.

She had just saved the glass but who's gonna save her?

"What the hell!" Nate got up, angered. He was coughing repeatedly and his face was red.

"Oh God!" Kim gulped. What was she thinking? People stood up and rushed to him and all Kim wanted was to run. But somehow her leg just stood rooted to that spot.

She watched them, biting her lips nervously. She felt so much happiness when she wanted to do this and now, she's so scared. What if he chokes to death. No, think positively, he won't and she won't be accused of murder. It's just chilli right? But chilli that he's allergic to.

"Kimberly, what happened?" Julia came to her looking distressed.

"I don't know..I was...just..h..her..here," she tried lying but she stuttering badly was making it hard to lie, so she just shook her head.

Finally the uproar died and Nate was left sitting by his chair. He had a glass of water with him. Once he turned to look at her, that's when her feet responded to her and dashed into the kitchen.

Fear was written all over her face. It was so bad, not as she expected. She couldn't even stop him. She should've done something, probably pour the drink. This was a disaster.

"Kimberly Hayes!" She heard the aggressive, hoarse voice behind her.

Kim flinched and turned slowly to look at him." He deserved it" she blurted defensively.

"Really? Are you kidding me? Nate can shut this place down! Kimberly Hayes, you're fired!"
