Chapter 4 Allowed to leave

Marcel walked into Lorraine's office and slammed the door shut, his eyes glaring in anger and frustration as he walked up to her. "I can't find her, Lorraine."

Lorraine scoffed, her back leaning against her swivel chair. "Do I look like I care?"

Marcel shook his head in disbelief and sat on a chair in front of her. "I know and I don't care either, but that woman is carrying my child, and I care about my child."

Lorraine sighed and leaned forward, putting her hands on her desk. "I told you not to grow feelings, didn't I? Not to get attached."

"I didn't grow any feelings, Lorraine. I just can't turn a blind eye on the fact she's around somewhere with nowhere to go and carrying my child."

Lorraine shook her head. "Not my business."

"Don't you have like a slight of care toward her? What if maybe she gets hit by a running car or something bad happened to her? I've checked all her friends and no one knows where she is."

Lorraine sighed, having enough of everything. Having enough of hearing Leslie's name, wanting to be completely done with her, but apparently, she isn't.

Not just with Marcel, but with the company.

"Things are hard right now, Marcel. For me." She told him.

Marcel sighed. "The board of directors meeting, how did it go?"

Lorraine shook her head. "Bad. They said they don't believe Leslie gave the mantle to me, even with the evidence. They said even though it was true, they were supposed to be the ones to choose who to lead them. They said they need Leslie to face them and tell them she was handing it to me, cause if not, the contract is void."

Marcel nodded, seeing how disappointing it was. "Wow. Uh, so...so we need Leslie?"

"You know we don't, Marcel. She'll speak the truth about us taking it by force. She will say no and the board of directors will believe her because they're on her side. I can't even let her know about it."

"So what are we gonna do? Don't you think she could come back?" Marcel inquired.

Lorraine lowered her gaze in thought. "If she could, why hasn't she?" She looked at Marcel. "Maybe something did happen to her as you said."

Marcel shook his head. "I don't like that conclusion, Lorraine. Somehow, we're gonna have to know where she's hiding. Be prepared in case she wants to fight back. You know her better than me."

Lorraine nodded. "Indeed."

Leslie turned to her left side on the bed, feeling restless especially since she was in unknown territory. She's been in the room with maids coming in to give her a change of clothes and food. Some of it she was managing to eat, trying hard to ignore her cravings and just eat.

It made her miss home. She could just get anything she wants. Marcel always gets them for her. The way he treated her with so much love, it was darn unbelievable realizing it was all fake. He was such a good actor, a good deceiver.

She laid on her back and sat up with a little struggle before getting off the bed. She walked toward the door, hoping for it open and as she pushed the doorknob, to her surprise, the door opened. She brought a leg out and looked around the hallway, it has different wings. Just the floor alone could tell how big the mansion is.

She looked through the railings and walked a bit out for more view. There was just an ordinary room with a red center carpet and a front door with two royal guards manning it. There was a door by the left and another by the right.

She sighed not knowing what to do and decided to go back to her room.

Eric got the information from a guard and he decided to go to meet her, knowing she probably needed something. He got to her room and opened it without knocking which she was already used to. She's got no privacy.

She stood up from the bed feeling nervous. "Hi."

He just nodded. "I was informed you left the room."

"Not really. I just...when am I allowed out?"

He rose his brow. "Out? Don't you wanna stay here?"

She shook her head. "I don't know anyone here and I feel stuck in this room."

He looked around. "Stuck." He nodded. "Of course. Why don't I show you around?"

She smiled. "I'll like that."

He closed his eyes shut, blocking his wolf from talking to him like he usually does, and looked back at her. "Follow me."

She nodded and followed him out of the room. As they came down the stairs, he stopped in his tracks and looked at her to see she was seven stairs away from him.

She just gave him an awkward smile as she carefully came down the stairs, sliding her hand down the rails for support. It was a long tiring one.

He looked away from her, wondering how he was gonna take her down the long stairs and walk her around the place when she was so slow. Maybe he shouldn't have offered to show her around.

"Don't you guys have an elevator?" She asked, getting to him and stopping in front of him, beginning to breathe heavily, feeling exhausted already.

He shook his head. "No. We don't need it."

She nodded without choice, not wanting to ask too many questions.

"You sure you can handle going further down?" He asked since it was obvious she seem tired already.

She looked at the hall a bit close to them or still far rather and back at him. "Isn't that where we're heading to?"

He shook his head. "The front door is the path to the dining hall, living room, kitchen, and whatever. The other one by the right is the ballroom and the one left..." He looked at it. "It leads to another room, heading to my father's mansion which is none of your business." He concluded, before looking back at her.

He couldn't believe the long explanations he gave.

She just nodded. "Yeah, but can't you take me to the front door instead? Where were you taking me?"

"Further down. Outside the palace."

She gaped. "Oh. No other way outside?"

"Once we get to that hall, all we have to do is take left, down other stairs before getting there. Not hard."

She swallowed, biting her bottom lip to stop a frown from showing on her face. It sounds easy to him.

'Just carr...'

His teeth gritted as he shut his eyes closed again, blocking his wolf out. He always does that and his wolf, Lex, never seems to bother about it, but not until she arrived. He's been forcing himself out. He looked at her who was giving him a confused look. "Why don't you go back to your room? This might not work."

She immediately shook her head. "No, it's fine. I'm good." She lied.

He nodded and resumed walking with her struggling to keep up with him.
