Chapter 2 Hatred

Present...

"Only you can change the future Hazel!"

Hazel jerked up from sleep, shutting her eyes immediately, as she felt a sharp pang on through her head.

"You look like you've seen a ghost." Hazel jumped at the sound of Fay's voice.

"It's just me. Fay." She said, giving Hazel a quizzical look.

"Are you sure you're alright?" She asked, moving closer to where Hazel sat.

"You've been asleep for hours now." Fay placed the back of her palm on Hazel's forehead.

"Shit, you're burning." Fay pulled out her hand almost immediately.

"I think you have a fever, let me inform the pack's doctor." Fay was about moving when Hazel held her hand, stopping her from going further.

"What's the time?" Hazel asked, mopping off the sweat that laid on her forehead with her hand.

"It's some minutes to seven." Fay looked into her wrist watch.

"It's getting late, I should head home. I've been here for hours." Fay got to her feet.

"Can you please sleep over? Just for tonight?" Hazel asked, concealing the fear in her voice, as she didn't want Fay to get a hint that she was in distress.

"Okay, this is strange. But then, who am I to say no to my best friend!" Fay squealed, jumping back on the bed.

"We'll have lots of fun." Fay gushed. "And talk about lots of things, like handsome boys and all."

"Can you please get me water, before you go on with your various day dreams." Hazel smiled and shook her head over her over enthusiastic best friend.

"Coming through!" Fay hurriedly got her a glass of water and plumped back on the bed beside her, as Hazel gulped down the content of the glass.

"Talking about handsome boys," Hazel started, turning over to face Fay. "Where did you and Clare disappear off to after I left?" Hazel gave her a 'don't you dare lie to me' look.

"Nowhere important." Fay suddenly fell quiet as her face grew red.

"Don't you lie to me Fay." Hazel smirked.

"Okay, okay, we kissed and it was a even a mistake, that's just it." Fay rushed out.

"Details Fay." Hazel sang. "Don't let me off on the juicy details." Hazel wiggled her brows in a funny way.

"Don't make me do this Hazel." She whined, burying her face in the pillow she picked up from the bed.

"His book fell off his hand to the ground, we both bent to pick it up at the same time. On realizing that we both had our hands on it, just like in the movies, we slowly turned to stare at each other."

Hazel gave her an amused look, halting her for a millisecond.

"Okay, okay. It wasn't like the movies." Hazel shook her head and laughed out.

"But we both turned to look at ourselves, not realizing the close proximity, till our lips came together. I immediately pulled off and started apologizing to him, when he suddenly grabbed me and deepened the kiss."

"Ouuu. How was it?" Hazel gushed out, fully giving her attention to Fay.

"Pretty weird at first, cause I wasn't expecting it, but it became a little nicer afterwards, as I allowed myself to enjoy it. He's really a good kisser though." Fay smiled, as though reminiscing the event.

"Soooo? Did you guys ditch school and you know..." Hazel wiggled her brow, sending off a particular message.

"No, we didn't." Fay heaved out. "He actually apologized that it was a mistake." Fay suddenly had a downcast look on her face.

"Hey, it's alright darling." Hazel pulled her into an embrace.

"I'm sure he didn't mean that, maybe he was just as overwhelmed as you were and didn't know the right words to use. I'm sure he'll come around." Hazel said, soothing Fay, who had her head on her shoulder.

"Are you sure about that?" Fay asked hopefully.

"I know Clare and I know he'll come around. He's just probably shy and doesn't know how to express himself yet, or maybe..." Hazel trailed off, as an idea popped in her head.

"Maybe what?" Fay sat up, to stare at the all of a sudden enthusiastic Hazel.

"Maybe, you're the one who had to make the move!" Hazel clapped her hands, as though she just brought about a genius idea.

"Make the move?" Fay asked confused. "Like ask him out?" Fay's eyes widen.

"No, not really that. More like, give him hints that you want to be with him, make him notice you and all."

"No, I don't think I can do that." Fay said, leaning back on the bed's stand. "I don't want him thinking I'm so desperate and want him at all cost. I don't think he'll really want me if I do that." Fay sounded dejected.

"Leave it to me." Hazel smiled.

"So, how is it going with you and Ives?" Fay asked, seeming concerned.

"I don't think I want to have anything to do with him anymore." Hazel turned to the other side.

"Why's that? I know this Betty bitch had been all over him, but you sure it's enough to let him go? What if he turns out to be your mate?" Fay asked.

"What if he isn't my mate. I mean we just assumed, cause he's the one I got attracted to first. What if I turn out to be Ryan's mate or non of them at all. I don't think I even want to be mates with any of them. I actually want to be their beta, so I can help them defend the kingdom when necessary. I feel as a beta, I'd be able to take more risks and save our race when the time comes. I could also be in the front line, if the war comes. But being a Luna, I'll be restricted from doing a lot. I don't think I'll be able to forgive myself if I let the werewolf race go into ruins." Hazel rambled, getting Fay more confused.

"Okay, okay. What's this you are rambling about war, being a beta and all. Am I missing anything here?" Fay asked, looking suspiciously at Hazel.

"It's nothing." Hazel smiled. "I was just over thinking and you know how I ramble when I'm feeling at unease. I'm good" Hazel assured her.

"I think we should go to bed, we have school tomorrow." Hazel said.

"Ouuu. So soon?" Fay whined. "It's still too early."

"I'm really tired." Hazel gave her an exhausted look.

"Oh, I'm sorry. You need to rest."

Some hours later, Hazel creeped out of bed, having heard the steady snores of Fay.

She didn't want to bother her with what she was shown, it'll only make her unnecessarily scared.

She walked to her balcony and held on the railing, inhaling as much air as her throat could take in.

Flashes of the future she had seen came slipping into her mind's eye, making her visibly shudder.

She kept pondering why she was the one who sat the throne amidst the demons. It didn't make sense to her on how she'd turn away from her people and lead the opposing kingdom.

Her mind went to the death of Ives.

Nothing made sense at all.

She shook her head, and was about heading back into her room to her room when she noticed a movement from the floor beneath her.

"What's that?" She looked alert, staring intently below, wondering if it was any sort of threat.

"Hey." Hazel felt a tap on her shoulder, making her jump.

"Oh, it's you." Hazel heaved out, as she turned over to see Fay standing by the door side, with a blanket wrapped around her, rubbing her eyes.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Fay asked, looking at Hazel suspiciously.

"Yea. Yes, I'm fine." Hazel said.

"You've been so jumpy all night." Fay commented.

"I'm fine Fay, you should go back to bed." Hazel draped her hand on her shoulder and led her back to the room.

"I think I should step out for a bit." Hazel said to Fay, as she moved to her door.

"Don't stay out too long." Fay sleepily said, as her head hit the pillows.

Ives couldn't sleep back, as the nightmare felt more real than it ever had. He could still feel his arms sore from the tight grip of the demon.

Unlike others, this time around, a knife was plunged into his chest and it felt so real.

Ives places his hand on his bare chest to be sure it was only a dream.

"Nah, I can deal with this. I'm not involving a shaman again." Ives muttered to himself, as he sat up on his bed, dropping his feet to the floor, on one side of his bed.

"Is anyone here?" Ives looked around alert, as he felt a presence in his room.

He slowly got to his feet, turning around at intervals, if he'd see anyone.

"Hello?" He called out, as he slowly moved to the curtains that shifted as though someone was behind it.

He grabbed a handful of the curtains, pulling it back swiftly and raised his hand mid way to hit whoever was behind it, but there was no one. Rather, his window was opened and chilly air which made the hairs on his skin stand erect, was gushing out from outside through his window to him.

"That's strange. I could swear that I felt a presence." He said, shutting back his window, and placing the latch on it.

He knew that there was no way he was going to go back to sleep as the time on his digital clock read a few minutes past two, and it was too early for him to take a run, so he decided to hit the gym downstairs instead, to let out steam.

Hazel decided to hit the gym downstairs as she knew she couldn't go back to sleep. Shutting her eyes meant her replaying everything she saw and each time she did, it felt more real and closer than before.

She knew that letting out some steam, might help relieve her a bit and probably relax a little, as she was already getting paranoid and on the edge.

She got to the gym's door and was surprised to see it was slightly ajar. She shrugged, assuming it was one of wolves who forgot to jam it back after use.

She got to the couch and pulled off the shirt she wore, revealing the sports bra she had inside. She knew she was going to sweat a lot, more clothes would bring about more discomfort.

"Ekk!" She screamed out, as she turned over and ran into a hard human wall.

"Shh, it's just me." Ives said, covering her mouth with both his hands, to stop her from screaming out, as he trying calming her down.

"Let go." She said, as she pulled out his hand from her mouth and pushed it to his side, when he maneuvered his hand to grab hers instead.

She looked up to his face to see how dangerously close he was to her, making her legs feel gooey. Her eyes trailed from his face to his hard naked, sweaty chest, which made her feel all kind of things from her inside.

She painfully gulped in as she looked back up to his face.

"Let me go." She stared directly into his eyes.

"Or else?" Ives teased, as a smile played on his lips.

"What will you do Hazel, hit me? Go ahead." He let go of her hands, challenging her.

"I'll just go back to my room." She said, about taking a step further, when he blocked her way.

She slowly moved back, while he kept closing in till her back hit the wall.

Ives gave out a wicked smile as he bent really close to her neck, making her breathe quicken.

"Feel what you do to me." He said, pushing himself on her, to feel the hardon strained from his pants, as he deeply sniffed in her scent.

"Laters baby." He dropped a lingering peck on her neck and walked out the gym, leaving her all flustered.
