Chapter 4 Let Her Be My Girlfriend

"Christian Wayne! I didn't expect to see you here," the thin man said as he released me from his grip. I quickly ran to hug Aunt Clara. Me, her and Molly hugged each other like three scared kittens.

Now I know the name of the man who took my first kiss.

"What are you doing here?" Christian asks with a cold glare as he walks over and stands in front of the thin man. I think I see the fear in the thin man's eyes, but I'm not sure.

"They owe me money," the thin man replied, then he furrowed his brows in questions. "Why are you here? Do you know them?"

"She's my girlfriend," Christian replies, pointing at me. He surprised me, Aunt Clara, and Molly by saying that while the thin man and his men laughed.

Christian takes a deep breath, trying to be patient, watching them laugh because they have been laughing for almost a minute. Somehow I feel there is something weird about the way they laugh. They suddenly stop laughing as Christian stabs them with a death glare.

The thin man cleared his throat and his face suddenly turned fierce. "Since she is your girlfriend, then I don't have to worry about my money anymore. Right Mr. Wayne?" he asked. His voice sounded teasing but also threatening.

Christian answers him with a cold look in his eyes.

Aunt Clara, Molly and I turned into scared kittens again as the thin man gazed at us with his ferocious face. My heart was beating fast in fear as he walked over and stood in front of me. "I'm giving you an hour. Give me back my money or I'll do something terrible to you," he said threateningly. He and his men then walked out of the cafe laughing that weird laugh again while I struggled with my fear.

"Christian!" Aunt Clara suddenly says as she walks over, taking hold of Christian's arm. "Thank you so much for your help! You are our savior!" she said gratefully. As she and Molly saw the gentle smile on Christian's handsome face, they couldn't blink, with their eyes twinkling like the stars in the sky. I think they have forgotten their fears and their debts.

"Holy cow! He's so hot, so handsome," Molly, who was standing beside me, said.

Christian has another gentle smile on his face, seeing them keep staring at him unblinkingly, standing still like statues. "May ... I sit?" he asked.

His pleasant voice roused them from their stunned. "Of course!" Aunt Clara said and laughed, followed by Molly. "Come! Sit with me," Aunt Clara said as she led Christian by the hand to the sofa and made him sit there with her sitting on his right. Before I could blink, Molly was already sitting on his left, smiling at him with a sweet smile on her face.

"Wait!" Aunt Clara said as kept staring into Christian's face. "I think ... I've seen you somewhere." Her thinking face suddenly changed to one of surprise. "Holy cow! You own the Wayne company, right?! You're the billionaire bachelor every girl wants! And dream of! I've read articles about you!"

"I don't know about the most wanted bachelor, but yes, I am the owner of the Wayne company," Christian replies and smiles gently.

Molly's eyes opened wide in surprise as she almost dropped her jaw while I stood still like a statue watching them. Now they have not only forgotten their fears and their debts, but they have also forgotten me.

I sighed, trying to stay patient. As my eyes meet Christian's, my heartbeat quickens, my cheeks burning under his gentle gaze. "How long do you want to stand there?" he asked me. His voice is gentle but teasing.

As Aunt Clara and Molly looked at me, it was clear on their faces that they had just remembered about me. Aunt Clara quickly gets up from the sofa and leads me to sit next to Christian while she sits next to me. "Why didn't you tell me you had a boyfriend?" she asked me, a little angry.

I shook my head. "He's not my boyfriend! I've only met him once!" I replied that made Aunt Clara and Molly furrow their brows in confusion. I turned to Christian."How did you know I live here?" I asked curiously.

"I didn't know you lived here. My friend told me that the pancakes at your cafe are delicious, so I came here," he replied in a fast tone and gave me a quick smile. His expression suddenly turned to one of worry. "I said you are my girlfriend to save all of you from that man. You shouldn't be in debt to him. I know him. He is a cruel man who will do anything to get his money back. If you don't pay your debts, he will kill you and feed you to his dogs."

Fear suddenly gripped me firmly, it made my brain stop working. "No! I don't want to be dog food. I'm too young to die! I haven't even gone to Japan yet," I said. "Me too! I don't want to die. I'm not even married yet," Aunt Clara and Molly said together, and we burst into tears.

I catch sight of Christian suppressing his laughter for a second, but then his worried face returns. "Please, all of you don't cry. I will help you pay the debt." As soon as he said that, we stopped crying and laughed with relief, as if we had just escaped from death.

"Oh! Christian! Thank you so much!" Aunt Clara said gratefully as she held his hand. "We promise you! We will pay your money back!"

"Um. Actually ... " He muttered, hesitating to speak. Aunt Clara, Molly, and I furrowed our brows in wonder. "What is it?" Aunt Clara asked.

"You don't need to pay my money back. What I need is help. My grandpa wants me to get married soon, but I'm not ready for that yet. So I need someone to pretend to be my girlfriend," he said, showing us his sad, helpless face.

"I will help you!" Aunt Clara said excitedly. "I will be your girlfriend!"

Christian gives her his gentle smile. "I am happy to have you as my girlfriend. You are so beautiful," he said, that made Aunt Clara smile with her cheeks blushing. "But I think you are too old for me." Aunt Clara's face suddenly turned into that of a puppy about to cry.

"Let me be your girlfriend!" Molly suddenly said excitedly as she raised her hand.

Christian gives her his gentle smile. "I am happy to have you as my girlfriend. But you can't do that cause you already have a boyfriend," he said. Molly, Aunt Clara, and I furrowed our brows in question. "How do you know I already have a boyfriend?" Molly asked.

I catch sight of Christian furrow his brows in thought for two seconds, then he smiles casually. "You are so beautiful. So you must have a boyfriend," he said. It made Molly smile with a blush on her cheeks.

He suddenly pointed his index finger at my face. "Let her be my girlfriend," he says and I stop breathing. "Why me?!" I asked nervously, confused.

"Judging from your look you definitely don't have a boyfriend yet," he said. His voice was as teasing as his eyes. I fell silent, staring at him. I suddenly felt like an ugly yellow duck. Aunt Clara and Molly suppressed their laughter while Christian chuckled seeing my face.

He suddenly got an incoming message on his cell phone. He took it from his jacket pocket and read the message. "I have to go now," he said in a quick tone as he took his business card from his jacket pocket and put it in my lap. "Meet me at my office this Monday. I'll be waiting for you," he said into my eyes, getting up from the sofa and walking out of the cafe at a brisk pace, leaving me, who was trying to clear my head.
