Chapter 9 Fury

For the first week after getting the job as Josh's assistant, Jennifer worked her hardest to impress him so she could have the job permanently. She was always aware of his schedule and never let anything slip by her as she was completely thorough and efficient.

She wanted to impress him and seal the position and she was doing a pretty good job and was proving to be the best assistant Josh had ever had, maybe even better than her aunt.

On a sunny Monday afternoon, Josh sat in his office looking over the designs for a new collection of wine bottles when Jennifer stepped in.

"Mr Clinton?" She called him.

"Yes, Jennifer," He looked at her and answered.

"There's a woman outside who wants to see you but she doesn't have an appointment." She said.

"Did she say who she was?"

"Yes, Isabelle Gilmour."

"Isabelle? Why is she here?" Josh asked himself with a smile on his face.

This was the first time she had visited him at work and he was wondering what the occasion was.

"Should I send her in, sir?" Jennifer asked with a raised brow.

"Yes, of course," Josh replied.

Jennifer excused herself from the office and a few seconds later, Isabelle walked in, looking breathtaking as always.

"When I heard it was you, my day got a whole lot better," Josh said to her while standing up.

"Well, aren't you a charmer?" Isabelle joked and walked over to him.

He wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her closer before kissing her as passionately as was appropriate for a work setting.

Jennifer's desk was just outside Josh's office and his walls were made of transparent glass so she could see what was happening inside his office. She saw them kissing and stared for a while before looking away.

"Not that I'm not happy to see you but I have to ask, what brings you over?" Josh said, still holding on to her.

"I have a few hours before I have to get back to work so I was wondering if you'd like to go get some lunch."

"Totally! Let's do it." Josh said happily and grabbed his jacket and he and Isabelle left his office holding hands.

As they walked past Jennifer's desk, he stopped to give her some instructions.

"Jennifer, please reschedule my 4'oclock meeting to 5'oclock."

"Right away, sir." She replied with a smile.

They proceeded to leave and Jennifer watched the both of them leave the building with a somewhat angry frown on her face, almost like she was upset or...hurt.

In the parking lot, a woman in white walked over to Isabelle's car and could sense that there was a dark power over it, placed there by a demon. This power was surely meant to cause damage to the vehicle and whoever would be driving it so, it needed to be removed.

The woman placed her hand on the hood of the car and closed her eyes. She focused her power and her energy into her hands and drew out the dark power off the car and cast it away.

Just then, the door that led from the building to the lot opened up and Josh and Isabelle walked out and headed over to her car but they didn't see the woman in white; she was just...gone.

"So, where are we going to eat?" Josh couldn't help but ask.

"Why? You worried I'm planning on kidnapping you?" Isabelle teased.

"Not at all. In fact, that wouldn't be so bad." Josh said smiling.

"It's a surprise, but I'm sure you'll like it." She said and they got into the car and drove away.

As they left the parking lot, the strange woman in white appeared again and smiled in relief, knowing that the couple would be safe. Her smile immediately became a frown when she felt a demonic presence behind her. She turned around and stood with her guard up because of the demon that stood in front of her; Gentel.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't the infamous, Fawn. A lot of my brothers and sisters have died by your hands, angel." Gentel said and manifested a blade made of fire in her right hand.

"And yet here you stand, courageous enough to draw your sword against me, Gentel," Fawn replied and wrapped her fists.

"You know me?" Gentel asked with a raised brow.

"Of course, I know you. The Ash Wing, Dame Of Destruction; one of Lucifer's deadliest assassins. A few of my brothers and sisters have died by your hands also." Fawn said and manifested her own sword made of light.

"You removed my spell from the car." Gentel said in anger.

"Your spell could have killed them. I did what I had to to make sure that the bet is honoured." Fawn replied.

"And now, you're going to pay for it with your life."

"Are you sure you want to do this? If you die in your human flesh, there's no coming back." Fawn threatened as the tension rose.

"You're the one who should be worried about that," Gentel said and released her wings before charging at Fawn.

Fawn ran at the demon and their swords sparked as they collided. She grabbed Gentel by the horn and threw her into a parked car with so much force that the vehicle split in half.

She was immediately back on her feet and telepathically summoned her sword back into her hand and duelled with the powerful angel. They were evenly matched as neither of them could land a hit on the other. They were both fast and skilled with their weapons, blocking each other's attacks while they hovered in the air, carried by their majestic wings.

Gentel finally landed a kick on Fawn's head which sent her crashing into another car. Her demon blade ignited in flames and she blasted the fire toward the angel. Fawn managed to get out of the way before the fire hit her.

The parking lot was taking on too much damage so Fawn decided to relocate the fight to another venue. She flew towards Gentel at the speed of sound and grabbed her before they both vanished.

.

.

.

It was snowing heavily at the top of a mountain in the Himalayas and there wasn't human life as far as the eye could see. A portal opened up and the two celestial beings blasted out of it and crashed into the jagged floor of the mountain ground.

Fawn grunted out in pain and discomfort as she tried to stand up because of her human flesh but Gentel was already used to pain, being the Devil's daughter so she got back up quite easily.

Gentel looked around and realized where she was which made her smirk and let out a laugh of mockery.

"Look at you! Instead of worrying about your own safety, you worry for the humans and want to protect them. When will you and the rest of your kind realize that they are not worth saving?" The demon roared out.

"I wouldn't expect you to understand, demon." Fawn replied, now on her feet.

"It's not a problem. It's just a shame that no one will hear your screams when I burn you alive." Gentel said and raised her flaming sword in Fawn's direction.

The sword shot out an intense stream of hell fire at Fawn but the angel jumped out of the way and released her wings. She took to the sky and manoeuvred away from the blasts while flying closer to Gentel. She reached her and grabbed her but the dame of destruction countered and threw Fawn to the side of the mountain, breaking it apart.

"You're going to have to do a whole lot better than that, Angel." Gentel taunted.

Fawn grunted in anger and charged with her light sword. Their blades sparked as they fought with so much ferocity. Fawn had her wings out but Gentel didn't which put her at a disadvantage because the angel could sidestep her attacks more efficiently. It was devastating as they both traded heavy blows that were tearing the mountain apart. Gentel took a swing of her sword and knocked Fawn's out of her hand. She brought down her demon blade towards Fawn's head but the angel caught the blade with her bare hands much to Gentel's surprise.

"Not bad," Gentel commented.

Fawn disarmed her of her weapon and attacked her with it. She took a swift sharp swing at Gentel but the demon raised her hand just in time to release her retractable shield inside the gauntlet on her arm and block the hit which could have been fatal.

The blast was so strong that it pushed the demon across the mountain head, creating a small distance between the two of them. Gentel picked herself up and smiled angrily. She raised her hand and her sword came flying back to her from Fawn's grip.

"That's it! I'm done going easy on you," Gentel said and charged at the angel.

Fawn stood her ground and waited for her to get close enough. As soon as she got close, Fawn flapped her wings with so much power that it created a heavy blast that picked Gentel up and threw her off the mountaintop.

Everywhere was silent for a while and it seemed like Gentel had fallen to her death but she hadn't. The demon flew back to the mountaintop, carried by her ash wings with a look of rage on her face. She raised her sword and the red flames around it became black; she was livid.

"Burn in hell!" Gentel yelled and flew over to Fawn with her outstretched sword but just before she made contact, a bolt of lightning struck just in front of her and blasted her away from Fawn.

"Enough!" A voice shouted out in beautiful omnipotence; God's voice.

God was there physically because of his agreement with the devil about neither of them coming to Earth themselves but, his presence was very much present in the form of beaming light.

Fawn fell on her knees in respect and obedience but Gentel still stood in defiance.

"You're not my God so I don't take orders from you," She said.

"But you will listen to him," God's voice said.

The air became corrupt with a dark aura; The Devil's presence.

"That's enough, Gentel. Return home immediately." The devil said.

"But father..."

"I said, immediately." The devil screamed in fury.

Gentel could feel the rippling anger in his voice so she obeyed.

"This isn't over, angel." She said to Fawn before flying into the sky.

The dark aura dissipated and the Devil was gone, leaving behind God and Fawn.

"Father, I was only trying to protect..." She started trying to explain why she was battling a demon on Earth.

"It's okay, Fawn," He cut her off, "You did the right thing. Lucifer's demons are unpredictable so we have to make sure they don't dishonour the bet."

"Why not just let them, Father? If they dishonour the bet, You can call it off." Fawn reasoned.

"Since the beginning of time, I have unable to control Lucifer, to stop his antics and eradicate his evil from this world because that was the natural order I created; Good and Evil, Light and Darkness, but due to this bet, I can finally free my creation from his hand," God said.

"But, what if he...wins? Fawn said wittingly.

"Well, we'd better make sure he doesn't. Get back to your task, Fawn." He said and disappeared.

"Yes, Father!" The angel said before flying away to continue her task.
