Chapter 4 Divorce Agreement

Loraine cried her eyes out in her grandfather's arms. All the hurt she had buried inside for the past few years bubbled up to the surface.

"It's good that you are back." Aldo patted her back gently. "Lorrie, you need to take good care of yourself. Your parents passed away when you were little. Your uncle Rowan is very busy in the army and he went back to work immediately after he picked you up. As for your uncle Wesley, he is still abroad. You are the only one I have now. I can't afford to lose you too."

Loraine felt warm in her heart.

"Okay, Grandpa. I won't do anything stupid ever again."

Just as they were talking, a woman with a petite figure came into the room.

"Lorrie! I missed you so much!"

Loraine looked up in surprise. "Jennie! Why are you here?"

After embracing her tightly, Jennie Fowler flashed her a toothy smile.

"I came as soon as I heard you were back. Have you forgotten that I'm your best friend?"

Aldo excused the two girls, so they could catch up on old times.

Tears welled up in Loraine's eyes as she looked at Jennie.

It dawned on her that she had lost herself because of Marco. For him, she gave up her identity as the pampered heiress of a wealthy family and cut all connections with her loved ones. And what did she get in return? Betrayal and suffering.

"Jennie, I missed you, too. It's good to see you."

Jennie's eyes became watery and she wiped Loraine's tears as fury simmered in her veins.

"Did that bastard treat you badly? It seems so. Not to worry, I will teach him an unforgettable lesson!"

"Hold on, Jennie. There will be no need for that. I have made up my mind to divorce him."

"You are going to divorce him? That's great! You should've done so a long time ago. You are the heiress of a prestigious family. That idiot doesn't deserve you. You can have any man you want. You know what? I'll call a bunch of men, so you can make your pick."

Loraine held her friend's hand just as the latter took out her phone.

"I have it all figured out, Jennie. I'm done with men. Love doesn't seem to be for me. I want to focus on my career now."

Loraine was heartbroken, so dating was the last thing on her mind now. She was wary of men.

"Do you intend to take over Universe Group? That would be great. Cayson is currently the president. You should just ask him to make you the vice president." Jennie suggested, clapping her hands excitedly.

Loraine shook her head with a smile.

"Why not?" Jennie was confused.

"Cayson has been doing well in the company all these years. I don't want to reap his fruits. It won't be fair to him."

Jennie didn't share her thought. "You are overthinking this, Lorrie. Everything the Torres family owns is yours. Besides, Cayson has always been obedient to you since he was a child."

Loraine shook her head. "I don't want to be fully dependent on my family. I need to prove myself. I intend to apply like every other job seeker. I want to be an architect. If I start from the ground up, I will be able to know the ins and outs of the company."

Sheer determination sparkled in Loraine's eyes as she spoke.

It was at this moment that Jennie realized that the old Loraine was indeed back.

"I'm rooting for you, Lorrie. I'm confident that with your talent and determination, you will take the business world by storm. Very soon, you will be able to defeat Marco's company and have your revenge!"

The mention of Marco's name made Loraine's heart sink. The traumatic wound on her heart was still fresh. It wouldn't heal for a long time.

She said indifferently, "I'm not doing this because I want to take revenge. I don't want to have anything to do with him ever again."

After that, Loraine drafted a divorce agreement.

In Bryant Group

Marina barged into the CEO's office. "Marco, why did you freeze my card?"

Marco didn't raise his head to look at his sister. He just continued to flip through the document in front of him.

"I did it to make you reflect on yourself."

"Why do I need to do any reflection? Is this about Loraine? That bitch caused a scene and asked for a divorce. What has it got to do with me? She is the one at fault. I only asked for her kidney because I was worried about Keely!" At the thought of what happened, Marina grew angrier. "Besides, what's the fuss about? Keely is fine. If she wasn't, Loraine wouldn't have gotten off the hook even after donating all her organs."

"Enough!" Marco finally raised his head. He shot her a searing glare. "Watch your mouth, Marina. Loraine is your sister-in-law. Even if you don't like her, you have to put up with her for my sake. How dare you try to teach my wife a lesson?"

"She doesn't deserve to be your wife!" Marina folded her arms defiantly. "Besides, she wants a divorce. Something tells me she's up to no good. She's asking for a divorce because she wants to milk you. Don't let her play a fast one on you."

Marco's blood boiled. His sister had gone too far.

Just when he was about to scold her, his assistant, Carl Dixon, came in with a package.

"Sir, this is from Mrs. Bryant."

"Look! Am I right?" Marina rolled her eyes in disdain. "She started showing her true colors as soon as she left. It appears she has realized she can't support herself. What divorce? She was just fibbing!"

Marco didn't say anything and opened the package in his hand.

A bank card fell out.

A divorce agreement followed suit. Loraine had already signed it.
