Chapter 2 Husband's Attempted Murder

"Yosef! He still gets the nerve to call me!"

Rebecca gritted her teeth and answered it.

"Rebecca, I'm sorry about what happened last night. I was wrong. I acted impulsively. Please come back now. Let's talk it over, okay?"

Rebecca couldn't believe her ears. "You acted impulsively? The entire year, you lied to me that your legs were still unconscious from the car accident. But you ended up sleeping with my best friend. Then you told your mother that you wanted to divorce me because I still couldn't give you a child after being married for two and a half years. And last night, you wanted to kill me. Yosef, you're an asshole! What you did was an attempted murder. Do you think I don't know what you're up to? Now you're trying to coax me back with your sweet words. Then what? You will try to kill me there again? All you want is for me to die."

After listening to Rebecca, Yosef didn't bother to pretend any longer. He said coldly, "I wanted to kill you? You're still alive, right?"

Rebecca trembled with anger. Yes, she was still alive. But the pain she felt was too excruciating.

Yosef failed to kill her in his first attempt last night. When he was about to run over her again, a car happened to pass by. She tried her best to rush to the car and asked for help. She was able to climb into it, so she survived.

However, she didn't expect that the man in that car would rape her.

"Rebecca, I didn't intend to kill you. But unfortunately, you heard what my mother and I talked about. At first, I was only determined to divorce you. But after I thought it over, I think that being a widower is a better idea."

As he spoke, Yosef's voice became more and more irritable. "And to avoid me, you even dared to climb into the car of a stranger? In the middle of the night, a woman climbed into a stranger's car. That man shouldn't have missed such a good opportunity, right? I know you two had sex in the car. You bitch! I thought I could pop your cherry before you die. At least, I could let you have a taste of a man in this lifetime. But you didn't want it. Instead, you ran away. You choose a stranger over your husband."

Rebecca felt numb. She gritted their teeth and said, "Yes, we had sex. So what? It's better than to be raped and killed by you. At least, that man saved my life."

Her words angered Yosef even more. "Are you putting the blame on me? I don't want to kill you. But you've heard some things you shouldn't have heard. Everyone who stands in my way has to die. Like you, your father... Do you think you can get away forever? Remember that Clathe is a small place. I can always find you."

After saying this, Yosef hung up the phone.

Rebecca was stunned, not understanding what his last sentences meant.

Did Yosef have anything to do with her father's death?

She hurriedly called back, wanting to ask about it. But his phone was already turned off.

Rebecca could only clench her teeth. She took a deep breath and tried to persuade herself. "Don't be fooled, Rebecca. Don't be fooled. He said it on purpose. He wants to lure you back and kill you."

It took her a long time to calm down. She lowered her eyes and thought about her current situation.

She couldn't go back to the Swain family anymore. After her father died in an accident, his house was sold at a low price to pay off his debt.

Fortunately, she still had her mother, although her mother divorced her father when she was little. Her mother got married again and had a new family now. But her mother was her only family left.

As soon as Rebecca arrived at her mother's house, she heard an angry roar from inside. "Do you want to have me killed? Everyone knows that Martin is blind and he is violent and crazy. Some people even say he has already killed someone. You want me to marry him? I would rather die than marry him."
