Chapter 2 THE DAY A KINGDOM FALLS

Five years later

It has been about five years now since princess Rosety took over as the princess of the great Farkland.

She has been a very great leader that has ever been seen.

She ruled with the heart and not with the fist.

She spreads happiness all around, wherever she goes.

She has united many kingdoms in the last five years.

Fought a lot of Invaders without mercy.

Indeed, the kingdom of Farkland has seen so many changes and progress in her rule as a princess one could only wonder what greatness she will bring forth as the queen.

But there is no happiness that lasts forever.

Every soul has to be tested at some point and princess Rosety will be facing her own test more sooner than she expected.

For today, out of the blue, their kingdom was attacked and that too without any prior notice.

It was the work of an ambush but princess Rosety was not ready to give up at all.

It was late in the night when the princess heard some screaming.

She quickly got up from her bed and quietly picked up her sword.

Whatever it is, she is sure it will be over in no time.

But as princess Rosety opens up her window, she saw smoke, everywhere.

There kingdom is being attacked.

She quickly goes back into her room and wakes up her three maids.

"You need to hide, the kingdom's under attack" she says.

The maids were so frightened when they heard all the screams for help but Rosety assured them all will be fine.

She quickly grabs on her sword and heads out, not even caring to wear her armor.

The place is in a lot of chaos as she went out.

Soldiers were busy trying to defend their kingdom and they are being brought down one by one by the assassins.

The women were busy screaming along with the children and trying to find a place to hide.

The first thing she saw was one of the assassins trying to drag a woman out of her hiding place while she was screaming and screeching that he let's go of her.

Princess Rosety ran up to them and without any remorse, she slashed at the man's back and he fell to the ground. His blood splashed on all of them.

The woman was so frightened but seeing that it was the princess, she felt at ease. For once in her life, she even wished that she knew how to fight just like the princess did as the princess was a very fierce fighter, everybody knows that.

"Go over to my chamber, you'll be safer there" the princess ordered.

The woman did as she was told and rushes over to the direction of the princess's chamber.

Princess Rosety however, was enraged right now. The once soft hearted and kind lady within her is now gone, all she could see was blood. She has now turned into a scary warrior, the one that you won't want to encounter in a battle field.

She keeps on soaring her way to the main scene of the fight by slashing and hitting any assassin that comes her way.

By the time she reached where her father and mother and other warriors were busy trying to fight down the assassins, she was covered in blood.

She quickly joined her parents and they continued attacking their Invaders with no mercy.

The kingdom of Farkland might be the most friendliest kingdom ever known but when it comes to anyone trying to invade them, then he will be faced with wrath.

The trio kept on attacking along with the other surviving warriors in a strategic formation and they have taken down almost all the assassins while those who aren't brave enough run on there feet.

The king, queen and the princess are now standing amongst numerous corpse, breathing deeply, but they were glad that they have saved their kingdom once again.

Or so they thought.

All were celebrating their victory that they have let down their guard and so, the next thing that came to them was rather surprising.

An arrow shot from high up the sky and it was headed directly towards...

"Father!" Rosety called but it was too late because as he turned to his daughter, the arrow shot right into his neck.

The next word he meant to say only came out as a gush of blood.

"Luskova" the queen cried out.

But this was also meant to be her last word and the second arrow that was shot, went right through her chest and she fell on top of her husband.

"Nooo!!!" Rosety screamed at the top of her lungs.

As she was running towards her parents, another arrow shot and it only missed her by an inch, scraping her shoulder only.

She fell onto her parents dead body as more arrows kept shooting and soon, more bodies were falling down.

Soon, Rosety's eyes became heavy for her to even open up and slowly, darkness engulfs her, till she is no longer part of this world anymore.

Bodies were fallen all over the place and blood covering every inch of the floor like a flooring river.

No sound was heard apart from the birds singing in agony.

One would think that no soul was left in this whole kingdom, until someone emerges from the pile of corpses.

You would first think that it was a ghost but by taking a closer look, you will find princess Rosety standing there.

She made her way out of the pile of dead bodies in search for her sword.

And then she found it. It was piercing through an innocent man's chest.

She slowly pulls out the sword, afraid that she might hurt him even though he was already dead.

She moves back into the pile in search for her parents.

It took a lot of time and shifting a lot of bodies to find them.

They were still laying there on top of each other. She lifts up her mother and turned her face and Rosety was broke to see the blank look on her face. The arrow is still buried in her as well and Rosety couldn't bring herself to pull it out.

So she did the best she could and broke half of it and lay her mother on her back. Then she closes her eyes for the final time.

She turns over to her father and he was still laying there as well, with the arrow that was shot at him a well.

She did the same thing she did to her mother to him.

Using her blood covered dress, she wiped off the blood that has spilled out of his mouth.

She just couldn't waste her time and mourn them even though that's the only thing that she wants to do right now.

But her kingdom needs her. She needs to check for any survivors and take them to safety.

She started inspecting the palace grounds but she was only met by corpses upon corpses.

From children, to women and men all together. Whoever decided to lurch this attack was sure a heartless monster.

When she concluded that there was no survivors out there, she decided to check up inside the palace.

She surveyed almost all the room she could and still, there was so living soul.

How could such a small group of army take down a whole kingdom?, that's impossible.

Rosety just couldn't live with the knowledge that she was the only survivor around here, at least for now.

How could she live with the guilt that she couldn't even protect her kingdom.

She decided to retire to her room and gather up her thoughts as she needed that, and fast.

As she was approaching her chambers, she heard some voices and so, she decided to sneak in on them to hear what was being said.

"Which one amongst you is the princess?" the man's voice growl and she heard whimpers.

That's when she remembered that she had left her maids in here and it seems like they are still alive.

She was happy for a moment but then she realized that their lives might be in grave danger by whoever is asking that question.

If she attacks them directly now, she might end up infuriating them and they will kill her maids.

So, she had to think of a plan. She decided to go in through a secret entrance that leads to her bathroom and from there, she is sure to know the number of the assailants and she will also know how to deal with them.

She made her way into the secret entrance and within a few minutes, she was pushing behind a door that looks like it was actually a drawer but it isn't.

She walks out and proceed to the door.

She slowly peaked into the room and the first thing she saw was one of her maids being tied but in an odd position that a human isn't supposed to.

The poor lady was screaming in agony and there was a man standing right in front of her.

He didn't look like he has any remorse for the pain they are inflicting upon the poor lady. He was actually even laughing at her misery.

Then she looks further into the and found one of her maid laying on the ground with pool of blood around her.

No doubt they have already slain her.

Rosety felt a tug in her heart once again but she quickly shuns it. This is no time for any emotions, she reckons to herself.

She kept on surveying the room and saw two more soldiers or assassins as they deserved to be called.

As she was looking at them, one thing caught her eyes, their uniforms.

She was very familiar with the uniforms as they belong to a neighboring kingdom and they were their allies.

She has always been close to the three princes since childhood.

"No, it can't be, there must be a logical explanation to that" she says in disbelief.

She just couldn't believe that they are capable of doing such to them. They were really close to each other.

Her mind was brought back to reality when she heard the scream of her maids once again and this time, it felt so agonizing, like they were dying.

"Now you can die along with your princess forever" the man's voice echoes over all the howling pain.

Wait a minute, do they know that she was her all alone or what. No, it's not possible, she thought.

Then she decided that since they know already, then she will just have to attack them then.

She forced herself into the room with a look of fury in her eyes.

But no assassin was inside and that's when she saw the fire.

The room has been lit on fire and the other maid who was screaming in agony has also been lit.

Her heart sank from the view. How can someone be this heartless?.

She rushes over to her bad tries to put out the fire but it was too late as she has already been burnt to crisp and what was left is just a dark and disfigured reflection of who was once her maid and she was silent.

Rosety didn't waste time once again to mourn this additional loss as she moves over to the other maid who has been tied up in unthinkable ways.

She did her best in trying to untie her without breaking any bone.

At last, she did and she lay the poor soul on her bed.

The fire is still spreading but she didn't care. That's when she noticed that her right hand maid was actually wearing one of her night gowns.

So they thought she was the one, that was why they assassinated her, the princess thought.

"Princess, you're alive" the girl says happily in her heavy voice.

She was evidently weak but she was happy to see her princess alive anyways.

"One of the men told me that they have killed everyone outside" she added.

"They did, but I was lucky enough to be buried in the piles of dead bodies and so, I survived" the princess answers with a heavy heart.

"You need to go, now" the lady screams in her weak voice.

That's when the princess heard footsteps. Sure enough they are coming back to check if they are already dead.

"You need to leave, please" she pleads again.

"No, I'm not leaving you behind" she says.

"You need to leave alone, taking me with will only add to your worries as I'm sure I'm not going to survive till tomorrow" she says and coughs.

The fire has stated chocking her it seems.

"Go, you are our only hope now, you are the only one who could avenge us, you are our only successor and I would gladly lay down my life for you" the maid insists.

"Hurry up, they are coming closer" she pushed the princess hard that she knows she means business.

With that, the princess got up and wipes her face, not that there was any tears in her eyes.

"I promise you, I will avenge every blood that was spilled today, I will make this fallen kingdom rise one day" she promises.

With that, she walked out of her room through the secret door.

Not long has she done that, the room exploded and she knows that no life would be able to survive that blast.
