Chapter 4 Marriage Proposal

"Miss Chloe came in about two hours ago" Allyssa reported to Marco who had just come back from a meeting.

"Two hours ago? and I didn't know about it?" Marco glared at her

"you... you were busy" she stuttered

"did you tell her I want to see her?"

"Yeah, but she didn't give me a reply"

"it's fine! you can leave" he ordered her. As soon as she left, he paced around his office "why didn't she want to see him? even now that they're meant to work together?" he wondered. Maybe, he should request for her again! at least, he was sure she had settled down so, she won't use settling in as an excuse.

"tell miss Chloe she should come to my office" he said to Allyssa after the beep.

Chloe sank on the couch in her office, she was exhausted from settling in and she also went through a lot of files to broaden her knowledge of the company, she just needed to drink something.

"A cup of coffee please" she said over the phone to Allyssa and she went to get her a cup of coffee. In no time, she was back

"Here" she placed the coffee on the table before her "Mr President requests to meet you in his office" she said

"I'll meet him in a few minutes" she said sipping her coffee. The earlier she meet him, the better for her, at least she was going to be a step closer in fulfilling her dad's wish. She stood up and straightened out her gown before leaving her office. She peeped through the glass wall of Marco's office before entering but she could see him because he was on the couch, Allyssa had already announced her presence.

Her jaw dropped as she walked in, this was the hottest guy she had ever come across, he was handsome in pictures but breathtaking in person. She felt her heart race as he looked up at her, she felt his hazel eyes peer into her skin and she missed her steps that she almost fell, a smirk crept into Marco's cheeks.

She felt so embarrassed at that, she paused to get her balance before going over to the couch. "What a silly day!" she cursed. She had never missed her steps even when crowd stared at her and here she was embarrassing herself before a guy, she felt so stupid.

"Miss Chloe" Marco cleared his throat as he accessed her. He couldn't deny that she was sexy, she looked hot in her black grown but it didn't change the fact that he didn't want to get married to her at his own will.

"Yes! and you're Marco Finn" she smiled

"Everyone knows that" he said with a sense of pride and she scoffed "I called for you earlier on and you didn't show up?"

"I was settling in"

"Sure you were" he mumbled "how did that go?"

"pretty well, I mean I'm here now" she said impatiently, this talk was boring, she had thought he wanted to talk to her about their marriage. There was a huge silence between them until Marco finally broke the silence, one person has to bring it up

"I'm sure you're well aware that our parents want us to get married"

"yes"

"so what do you think?" he raised a brow hoping she would say yes. He wasn't the type of guy who would ever plead for something and if she refuses, he'd have to do that.

"I think we should tell them we don't want to get married" she said plainly and Marco's face held disappointment! "what? do you know how long I've said no to my parents and they don't want to hear it anymore. I think we should just get married to save this company" he couldn't believe he was already sounding like his dad.

"save this company?" she laughed

"Did I say something funny" Marco squinted his confused eyes

"you're sounding just like my parents" she laughed harder

"oh wow! I guess our parents sound the same way then" he shook his head "so what do you think?"

"I've given this a thought and we'll get married" she stared at him without batting an eyelash "phew" Marco heaved a sigh of relief within himself, at least, he didn't have to do much.

"But.... we'll divorce after a year" she added

"what? after a year? that's too soon" he complained

"yeah, I want to wrap this up as soon as possible"

"and you think I don't want to? I make the rules here not you!" he clearly stated and that angered Chloe. Who was he to make the rules?

"You don't make the rules here!" she yelled back "if you aren't going to comply about the divorce then, find someone else to get married to" she stormed out

"wow! what a temper" he rolled his eyes, how could such a lady have a hot temper. He had never come across a lady who stood up to him, he was really amazed. He never thought anyone would be so bold to stand up to him considering his status. He rested his chin on his hands as he thought about what she had said "one year? After a year, they'll divorce?" he couldn't believe it, what would people think of him after he gets divorce after one year of marriage, he needed to maintain his good name. He was really pissed at her decision but he had no other option, she wouldn't get married to him if he doesn't comply and he'd loose his wealth, so he decided to give in but not without a fight!

He was going to come up with his own rules, he was going to beat her in her own game.

With that, he got up and left his office.
