Tyrion tapped on the desk in front of him as his mind wandered back to Ariel, it was two weeks already and she hasn't come to him begging at his feet as he expected. He heard a soft knock on the door ushering the arrival of Boyd
"Your father sends for you Rion" Boyd said. Tyrion didn't respond immediately before he dismissed Boyd with the wave of his hands as he reluctantly stood up and walked to his father's office.
He opened the door and sits on the chair directly facing his father in a relaxing matter
"You know courtesy demands that you knock on the door before entering my office" Donald said narrowing his eyes
"I'm sure you didn't summon me to your office to lecture me on courtesy" Tyrion countered getting impatient.
"I give you two weeks to prepare, you are to be transferred to the branch in Africa and stat there till further notice" Donald said as he stared intently at his soon
" Why the hell would I go to Africa? I've always worked at the headquarters so why transfer me??"
" The branch is in need with someone of your skills, it's that simple" Donald said calmly. Tyrion banged his fist on the table fuming with anger.
" Don't give me that bullshit! It's quite obvious that you're scared because I'm gaining control in the company and you're losing yours, so to gain your control of the company back, you've decided to send me away from the headquarters" Tyrion roared.
" Don't speak to me in that manner!" Donald snapped.
"I'll rather leave the company entirely than be a puppet at your twisted game, I'm tired of being your pawn and being shadowed by your name. To hell with your damn company!!!" Tyrion said and walked out.
Tyrion and Boyd went to the favorite pub and Tryion was drinking to stupor as he reflected his past life. Yes he was good at his job but everyone believed he was nothing without his father. All his success was attributed to his father and that wasn't going to happen again
"Boyd, you'll follow me everywhere right?" Tyrion asked
"Absolutely Rion" Boyd said without hesitation.
" I would like to establish my own company in England" Tyrion said and for the first time since he knew Boyd he smiled, "finally things will fall into place" he thought
"I support your decision" he answered aloud
Tyrion was expecting objections, not like it was going to affect his decision anyways but it seemed like he was waiting for this all his life.
For a whole week Boyd and Tyrion were busy with the blue prints of the new company that was too be established, and finally it was the point whereby they needed a qualified experienced manager. Boyd shortlisted 3 names and Ariel's name happened to be one of them
Boyd presented their portfolios and gave a detailed explanation on them and his honest judgement was that Ariel would be perfect for the job, his relationship with Ariel an added bonus.
Ariel's POV
Ariel yawned and stretched as she closed her laptop, she was exhausted as her workload was heavy and tasking. Her mind drifted to Tyrion. She wondered why she wasn't sacked by now, she waited and waited for the dreadful need but it didn't come. Perhaps he reflected on his actions and realized he did wrong. Nope, he didn't come off as that. God, she needed coffee. As she was about to stand up, she heard a knock
"Come in" She said sitting back.
Boyd entered and she rose hope and bowed her head slightly to him to show him respect. She adored and respected Boyd despite how cold and aloof he was. He was her life saver.
" You remember promising me that you'll do whatever I want to repay me in the future" Boyd said " I want to request for my promise now"
Ariel's mind drifted to 4 years ago, when she was on the street during a heavy downpour, she was coming for an interview and she was told she would be gotten back too but she knew they wouldn't, they never did. She was tired and frustrated, despite her outstanding and applaudable certificate and educational qualities she couldn't find a job since she graduated. She need a job, she was an orphan with two younger siblings to feed, to make matters worse, they were still schooling so she was responsible for their school tuition about schooling expenses. How was she going to survive if she was jobless?
At that point, she didn't care about the people in the road or the rain completely soaking her, she cried and wailed deeply, dragging her feet on the wet road, she finally reached the bus stop and sat down beside a man crying. He didn't seem to give a damn at first until she started ranting at him, and saying the pitch she used for her interview whilst listing her qualifications.
The man simply stretched out a company's ID gave it to her and told her to come for an interview tomorrow and that was how she started working for ROYALTY company.
"Ariel" Boyd said bringing her back to her senses " I said Tryion is opening a new company in England and he needs exceptional skills so he's offering you the position of being the general manager.
Ariel mouth opened as she tried to digest what she just heard
" I can't work under Tyrion! He has the natiest attitude, he's very narcissist and he lacks empathy and he's so rude. I can't work with someone like him" Ariel explained in agitation.
" You've come in contact with Rion?" Boyd asked
"Yes" Ariel said as she truthfully narrated her encounter with Tyrion.
"Wait! You slapped Tyrion!! And he didn't do anything???" Boyd asked quite surprised.
"I don't understand" Ariel said lost
" Anyways make sure you think about my offer and give your soonest postive reply, that's the only way you can repay me" Boyd said guaging her reaction " You have nothing to lose, you'll be paid twice of what his father pays and you'll be at a higher position. I'll take care of your siblings tuition and upkeep".
The deal was mouthwatering and he wasn't asking for too much honestly, her way of repaying him was still beneficial to him besides the thrill of starting up a company was starting to getting to her. Starting up a baby company and watching it grow and the company would flourish because she had seen Boyd skills and heard about Tyrion's skills too. Ugh, Tyrion! Could she really work under him? Maybe he wasn't really like that, she shouldn't just judge someone because of a first time bad encounter right? And if he truly was like that and she managed to survived that means there was no superior she couldn't work under no matter the personality
"When are we supposed to leave for England" Ariel asked
" Next week" Boyd answered.
"Next week?!" Ariel said wide eyed open " won't I need to pack or something or mentally prepare"
" You don't need to prepare anything, you'll receive clothing allowance and your accomodation is settled by the company, literally everything you need the company provides".
Ariel gulped. Was this really a good idea? She started weighing her options in mind and said calmly " I agree".
Boyd handed her a contract which left Ariel in shock, he already knew she would agree. "Go over this and submit it to the CEO yourself, I'm leaving for England today to make preparations, you'll be flying with the CEO" he stood up and left
Ariel stared at the contract. It looked like it specifically drafted by Tyrion, she briefed through the contract and she laughed when she saw clause 15 which stated " The CEO and the staff relationship is purely platonic and professional, in no account should the staff fall in love with the CEO"
What did he take her for? Only a fool would fall in love with a beast like him! Even in paper his nasty attitude reeked and she knew he was mocking her indirectly because of the first encounter. She continued going through the contract and saw clause 26. " The staff must always be at the CEO'S beck and call even when it's inconvenient" Ariel couldn't believe her eyes, that statement felt like he was saying I'm your master and you're my slave.
She sat back relaxing her back on the chair as she twirled on it until she finally stopped sighing, she picked up a calligraphy pen and started to input her signature into the necessary spaces. She would request for a copy of the contract, she definitely most! She stood up with the contract in her hands and went in search of Tyrion's office.
She knocked at the door and heard no response, he wasn't in. Just as she was about to leave, she saw a cleaner who was going to clean Tyrion's office and she handed the contract to her and walked away to the cafeteria to get some strong coffee, heaven knows she needed some coffee to clear her head right now
