Layla POV
"What the fuck!" I yelled, hitting the table and the table clock fell because of the force. My secretary who was with me that moment ran to me and I gave her a deadly look. I feel like ripping everything apart.
"Is anything the problem ma?" My secretary, Amelia asked. I looked at her and sighed.
"Take these away," I ordered, pointing at the pile of papers on the table. She stood there without taking a move and I shouted again, "Are you deaf? Take these stupid papers out of my sight."
Amelia hurriedly removed the papers from my table and I buried my head in my hands.
"But ma, what is wrong?" She asked.
"We lost the deal. We fucking lost the deal, Amelia. A 10 billion dollars deal!" I blurted out, almost scattering my hair with my hands. Amelia gasped and the papers fell from her hand to the floor. She came closer to me and held my hand to prevent me from scattering my head. I am about going mad and I know it.
"Who did we lose it to?"
"It was all you staff's fault. You all are so incompetent! Do you know the disgrace? Losing this deal to that low class Belux Company?"
"We are sorry ma."
"Sorry? Will sorry bring back the 10 million dollars? Are you a fool?" I asked her, grabbing her by her shirt.
"I....m...I'm....m.," she stammered and I let go of her slowly.
"My God!" I lamented. This was enough to make me cry.
"We will make it up to you ma," Amelia finally said.
"Of course. You guys have to. I need a profit 10 times that amount. 100 billion in 2 days. Go and discuss it with the rest of them."
"But...ma. 100 billion in 2 days is somehow impossible."
"The word, Impossible does not exist in my dictionary. We have made more than 200 billion in a day before so this will be a walkover," I said to her and pointed at the door so that she would go.
Instead of leaving, Amelia stood there looking at me. What must be going through her mind? I brought out my phone and sent emails to all the staff so that no one would complain about not hearing.
"What are you still doing here?" I inquired and she pointed to the floor.
"The papers," she answered. "I want to pick them up."
She squatted and started packing the papers. When she was done, she stood up to leave.
"I have made your work easier. I have sent your colleagues mails. Remember, 100 billion dollars in 2 days. No excuses!"
"Ok ma," she bowed and left.
If there was anything I hate apart from men, it would be making losses. Layla Madison is not a person who loses. Never! Not when she is alive. I will make sure this will never happen again and if it does, the staff will pay for it. My anger had already deflated and I am feeling a lot better now. As much as I wanted that deal because every dollar matters to me, I have no choice but to move on to the next thing at hand.
I was still contemplating on what to do when my door flung open and I rose up immediately in shock. My heart started racing fast because I had already started thinking it is connected to the threat call I received some days ago. But on second thought, there is no way someone would have gained entrance into my office. Considering the fact that my office is on the topmost floor and the tight security.
To my surprise, it was Louis Owen,my former Personal Assistant who I got rid of recently. He came in, in a jean, gray shirt and sneakers to match.
"Over Familiarity, huh?" I asked him and he smirked and sat in a sit. I shook my head and took my sit.
"I wonder how you got in here, Louis. I warned them not to allow you in."
"Look, Layla. You should have known that it won't work. Especially with me involved."
"Do not worry. I Know what to do. Why are you here, by the way?" I asked him.
"Nothing, I missed you."
I readjusted myself on my seat and laughed, "missed me? You must be out of your mind."
"I can not believe you threw me away that fast. What I did was not that bad, baby. Don't you give second chances?"
"It was not that bad, huh? Embezzling funds and videoing us when we were having sex is not that bad?"
"Not as bad as you think," he said, calmly.
"No, no, no. I can't believe I am letting you talk to me right now," I yelled and he got up and came to meet me, caressing my back.
"You take things too seriously. We have been together for years. We can fix things. It is not as if everybody knows about our love affair."
I shrugged and his hands fell off my back. "You are one of the most stupid men I have met. You were the only one I gave a chance to and you ruined me. You ruined both my life and my company."
His lips moved closer to my neck and his breath from his mouth gave me goosebumps.
"You told me everything you have been through with me..." I pushed him away and interrupted him.
"And you betrayed me! I hate seeing your face, Louis. Please, let me be."
"And if I don't? Call the security for ? Come on, Layla. It is not as if I am still working here."
"You are not welcomed here. I hate you! Don't you get it?"
He raised up his hands and said, "sure, sure. I know you hate me now. I won't disturb you again. The reason I am here is to give you this."
Louis said, and brought out an envelope from his pocket. He dropped it in anger and walked out of my office.
"Seriously?" I asked with my eyes wide open.
I opened the envelope and the first thing I saw shocked me.
