Chapter 2 Episode 2

Her grandmother supported her in everything unconditionally.

Years later he had graduated in Education and polished his degree with all the love of his heart and had already got an apartment in Brooklyn that over time he had known how to call "home"

At almost thirty years old, she had been in the best moment of her life until months ago, work was going well and her savings were decent, but now her banner was no longer with her, she had left just like that, without even saying goodbye

He had left behind a strong emptiness and pain in the hole that used to occupy his heart.

"Let's see," he murmurs at the same time that he takes out a large document from inside the white envelope and begins to look at it carefully.

Her grandmother had not only left the house in her name but had also left her a few thousand dollars just for her as well as all her belongings.

Seeing the number of numbers and zeros in the figure on the paper, she couldn't help but put her hand to her mouth and stifle a small gasp of surprise.

I didn't know where the hell all that money had come from, once again, it's not like the richest people in the neighborhood would have been

No way

So it was to be expected that now he was with his heart in his hand and without knowing what to do with so much money

It scared her a little, she didn't know very well what to do or what to say, it's not like she needed such an amount, she was an independent woman and her title was not only to decorate the walls of her apartment and she knew that at some point she would go out into the world again and would fight for his job

Leaving the papers aside, he went to the kitchen, turned on the light and the burner, put a little water to boil in a pot, went out to the small garden that was also an orchard and collected a couple of Balm leaves, he needed relax, lately her nerves and anxiety were killing her

It was a pity that her grandmother did not have a bottle of wine, she was sure that it would relax her more than tea.

She wrinkled her nose when the smell of humidity in the environment was present, it was the rainy season and soon another downpour would fall again, she loved the sound of the rain falling, it transported her to beautiful memories and distracted her from reality

I go back to the kitchen which was facing the back garden where it was, I add the Melissa leaves and wait for it to finish boiling, while I watched the first drops fall from the window

The colorful place was slowly beginning to look gray due to the rain and the fog that was beginning to appear, even though he also loved the rainy weather, I can't help but compare it with his emotional state

He felt inside him as if there were a deluge, his decayed soul could hardly drag it with him, he left the small house very little and he missed his apartment less and less, at least in that place he could still feel as if his mother, his grandmother, was still there.

She knew that she was past the stage of acceptance and all the other stages of grieving, it just had taken so long that she felt like she just couldn't go back to her life as if nothing had happened.

He didn't feel good about the idea yet.

Some might call her exaggerated or that she had gone crazy and had become almost a hermit, however she knew that very little would understand the wars inside her, at times like these she remembered Beatriz's sermons singing the "song" of every day when she stayed to see her

flash back

"If you don't get your head out of the books from time to time, you'll never find a good man for you," her grandmother had said.

Catherine just smiled

"It's not that easy," he had responded by closing one of his novels, a new one that he had recently bought and was already delighted with.

"Of course not dear, tell me." Beatriz had prepared some tea, she handed her a white ceramic cup with a very pretty drawing of roses on the front and back while she sat next to her and they both enjoyed their tea.

"However, don't make it more difficult than it already is, believe me, Catherine, the men in your novels won't come out one day and conquer you." Her grandmother rolled her eyes as if the idea was nothing short of absurd

"They already did" Catherine was about to say with a smile, unlike the real world, in the books even the men who were supposed to have a flaw to make the story a little more "real" in her eyes were more than perfect

But since the perfect does not exist and nothing is, he had no choice but to admit that his grandmother was right.

- I know, it's just that being a "hunter" woman, let's say it's not my style -Catherine shrugged, blowing a bit of hot tea before sipping a drink - The right time will come and the right man, I don't see why rush things

Her grandmother huffed before standing up and pointing a finger at her.

"You're almost thirty years old Catherine, I can hear that coming from a much younger woman, maybe a teenager but not from you, for God's sake!" -Beatriz raised her hands to the sky and Catherine did her best to hold back a laugh.

His grandmother tended to be very dramatic

"I want grandchildren and I don't want you to be alone when I'm gone." Her grandmother looked visibly discouraged and Catherine's mood instantly fell.

-Oh! - Catherine exclaimed at the same time that she got up from her seat to hug the older woman - Don't say those things Abu, they make me very bad, I don't want you to get away from me ever

Her grandmother hugged her and everything inside her was calm again.

I loved her like a mother

"Someday I will give you grandchildren and you will meet my blue prince, you will not leave me at all" Catherine smiled taking her back to the flower-patterned furniture, it was difficult to find something in the house that did not look delicate or very feminine, everything was pink , lilac, white or beige, there was no lack of decorationsof flowers or patterns of them throughout the house.
