Chapter 6 Brandon...

Darian Woods

The sun had not yet risen as I hurriedly made my way downstairs. Jack had gotten a call from the security at the headquarters that they suspect an infiltration as the CCTV cameras and database connections in the building just went down all of a sudden. It was a few minutes past 4 am, and they were trying to access the company's database already, indeed my enemy was serious and it seemed as though the danger was lurking around.

"What do we do, Darian?" Jack said to me as he caught up with me in the sitting room.

"I don't know for now. Let's go there," I replied making my way outside.

"Which progress has been made", I asked him as we stepped into the car. The driver had already been alerted and he swiftly rolled the car over to us.

"Every hand in the ICT dept is on deck and they're trying to break the barrier that has been created. With what the security said, no one had successfully entered inside as they have all been on alert, but there's a high chance that they won't be able to hold on for long."

"Good, so have you contacted any special unit?"

"Yes," Jack said to me as he picked up his phone to receive a call, "I just spoke to the unit leader, they will be joining us on our way".

"Brandon, my enemy was gradually getting to me and the moment I get hold of him, he won't escape my claws," I thought internally as I stared anxiously at my phone waiting for feedback from just anybody.

Stepping into the building, I was greeted with the sight of security officials moving from one point to another. The leader of the special unit ran to me and gave a slight bow,

"Sir, we're prepared. We're waiting for your orders," he said.

Raising my chin and staring at nothing in particular, "search every single nook and cranny of the building, lock up whoever you see loitering around the building incessantly. This is my order," I said to him.

"We will do just that boss," he said before turning to leave, calling together some of the securities, and giving them orders.

I rushed into the elevator to my office with Jack following behind and turned on my computer immediately after I got there. Inputting different codes, I heaved a sigh of relief as I realized they couldn't access my system which contained more confidential pieces of information. I trusted the encryption of my ICT personnel, I just wanted to confirm if everything was fine.

A frown formed on Jack's face as he looked at me, "but how were they able to shut down the CCTVs?", He questioned, "I know they are back up already, but I think it means one thing. An intruder is in our camp," Jack said and strangely I let out a smirk, "whoever it is should be prepared, he was unknowingly stepping into his doom and he had no idea," I thought.

Walking to stand at the window, which happened to be my favorite spot in the building "Arrange every important thing in the office today, prepare the paperwork of this building, and put it on lease. We will be moving to Carlton tomorrow," I stated, taking Jack off balance.

"Why on a lease? And so soon?" the furrows formed on Jack's face deepened.

"Just do as I say."

"But Darian...," He let his voice trail off, I assumed he had gotten used to me taking unplanned actions and decided to not query it.

"Okay," he said before leaving the room.

I walked into the penthouse and picked up a bracelet Moriah had gifted me which I kept in the closet for like forever. The word "onyx" was engraved on the bracelet, giving it a charming surface. I placed it in my pockets and walked out of the penthouse, to make arrangements for my relocation.

**************

I let out a sigh as I stepped out, glaring at the new headquarters at Carlton city and mumbling silent prayers. The decision to relocate was a fast one, and the relocation came faster. I stood watching a convoy of cars that drove in, not long after I did. The board of directors, major shareholders, security personnel, and some staff, as all had not moved over yet. Not forgetting, the paparazzi and journalists that tagged along to have news for their headlines.

"Sir, we thought your relocation will be in five days. Can you tell us what made you come earlier?" a journalist rushed over to me, trying to force a mic to my face

"Sir, can you tell us why you chose Carlton of all cities to relocate to?" and another one.

Lights from the cameras kept on flashing and I gradually became uncomfortable with the questions.

"Whatever decisions we take are for the good of the company and I don't think it was not out of a thoughtful stance," I gave a reply.

"But Mr. Darian Woods, we heard your wife is in this city? How true is it, and does it have anything to do with your relocation?" the anger that welled inside of me increased, and immediately Jack tried to shove them away, with my security forces paving a way for my entrance.

The interior of the building was finally decorated. It was a twenty-five-story building, with my office located on the last floor. The floor finely tiled with exquisite marbles and Chandeliers spread across the ceiling of the reception hall. The building was made in such a way that a part of it was into the ground, and if viewed from the outside, it looked like it has just twenty floors. The supposed ground floor which people stepped into and saw was the sixth floor and it stretched out to the various departments at the headquarters.

DARS Corporation was an alliance of subsidiaries dealing on various things. Ammunition and Weapons creation was a division of DARS Corporation with that line of investment as a major part of the underworld dealings. Another subsidiary trained Security agencies for commercial purposes and private use by Darian, it was more like a training center for special units that are detectives and the rest of them.

Another division of DARS Corporation was strictly into technology, coding, and hacking, training computer gurus, and developing artificial intelligence. DARS Corporation had spread out into many divisions touching almost every area of the country's economy, the airlines, food, and beverage industry, jewelry, and fashion design, hotels and bars, automobile fuels, etc. All of it and many more were under DARS Corporation.

The branches spread across the country reporting regularly to the headquarters, as each division had representatives at the headquarters.

"DARS Corporation owned a vast area of the country's economy and it was an investment I could pride in," I thought internally while stepping into the elevator that led to my office.

I finally got to my office, then exhaled a deep breath as I turned the door knob. The first thing my eyes caught was a red pearl brooch pin antique sitting uprightly on the table directly opposite where I stood. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked closely.

He had been here.
