Chapter 2 LIFE CHOICES

"Thank you," l said to Rhoda, my secretary as she put a cup of coffee in my front. I have barely been on the laptop for a few hours yet I'm already feeling drowsy and dizzy.

After standing for hours for the New Serum Promotion my body aches badly, l spend a lot of time as l had to do it over and over again, The ringing sound of the telephone snapped my attention, causing me to place back my coffee cup to its saucer

"Mason? A familiar sonorous voice came from the other end.

"Father? " l murmured in a low voice.

"The venue and her picture are being sent to your email, have set up a date for both of you, she is very important, she is the second daughter of the former prime minister, and it will be a good thing if you can get her on our side," Father said firmly as he had concluded everything even though it was without my consent.

" l understand Father."

"Also have your media employees fired, you don't look that good on the latest news, and you can't be looking like the world is against you, announcing the product was all you had to do, yet it was nothing but a disappointment, do we want our investors to think about us? l will send in a professional cook to schedule a new diet plan for you. You are the face of my hard-earned company, Mason. Don't disappoint me, and fix this.

" l understand!

I placed the telephone back to its hold, l went on with my laptop and continued on with my work. Father thinks setting me up with many females will make me straight, he will never accept the fact that I'm gay yet he won't quit pestering me, coming out to him on my eighteenth birthday was the greatest mistake have ever made in my life, my life became a total mess, more monitored, sometimes he would say it a phase l will grow out from, I'm not afraid of the public news yet father will make sure to wipe out or suppressed any news that has to do with me and my sexuality.

l became the CEO of the Mason Corporation when l was just sixteen years old, at seventeen l had a child, at eighteen years l came out to father, having to raise a child and take care of him all by myself, having Kai was never a mistake, the only mistake I made was falling in love for that scum head, Frankie, he talked me into having a surrogate baby with him and starting a family just for me to realise a week to our so-called wedding that he has a wife and three kids but he wants to marry me for money and frame.

I was ready to do everything for him, l hide everything from my father including our marriage plans, including the plans to have a baby, l wanted to make him happy and surprise him as l would not be able to give him the daughter-in-law that he wants so bad, l wanted to give him a grandchild l was so young and naive, yet l try not to live in regret when father found out about everything, dipping up every inch and hair that Frankie was only using me in order to save his father's company from bankruptcy.

More Reasons Father doesn't want to see Kai, he will affirm that l keep him away or l dump him at the orphanages.

Everyone that approaches me has one or two things they want to collect from me and when they are done off they go.

"Have grown to love Kai so much, he is my child, my baby boy, my Kai Kai, l will protect him so he won't suffer and be hopeless romantic like me, we are always there for each other, l don't ever want to see him cry, l try all my possible best not to be away from him like my father does to me, even though it better off that way now.

" l tapped my phone and it was already mid-evening, Kai is going to finish classes in a couple of hours, so l called my Secretary.

"Rhoda? To my office, please!" I said placing back the telephone as l kept gazing at my cell phone, I raised my head at the knock on the door.

" Come in!"

"Sir?"

" Cancel all my appointments today, l will pick Kai up from school myself.

"How about the date the director fixed for you at 7 pm? You still have a lot of time left when you drop Kai at home, can you make it there?" She asked sincerely.

" Ignore him, Rhoda, tell David to get the car ready!"

"That is dangerous, you can't just neglect him, you know how he is when you don't obey him, what if he kidnaps Kai again?" Rhoda said bringing back old memories of Father's torment, l remember him kidnapping Kai from school and locking him for three days away from me when l stood up for myself about how I'm not interested in the numerous girls he set up for me, l don't want any of them, yet he would say l have to keep fishing until l find the one that is perfect for me, the one to make me realise that am not gay, the one to make me realise that is peer pressure, society pressure and some psychological issues.

" l stood on my feet and took a step to get my suit off the hook rag, but the ringtone on my phone got my attention, Andrew?

" Hello?" I said, gesturing my hand for Rhoda to leave the office.

"What are you doing love?" His voice was very calm and relaxed like he meant to talk to me.

" l was about to get off work, what's up?"

"I want to see you, are you free tonight?" I didn't hesitate to say yes."

Andrew is the new guy l met at the Japan Annual Conference three months ago, A Blasian, A child of a Taiwan father and a Morroco mother, l hope he is the one, we have a lot in common, he is also the only child of Chien Hung, the underground leader of the Mining Enterprise.

Andrew is to take over the family business, I guess things can work out between the both of us since he already has it all and he is ready to accept Kai and l, l wouldn't be scared of him running away with the company money or property, rather be a gold digger, l don't know why l am still willing to give chances even when my heart has become more fragile.

l don't think the several men have slept with, dated and hooked up with by any chance should be counted as part of my life, l shamelessly say yes to anyone that comes my way, thinking they are coming to stay, am so ignorant and stupid, if I were to choose my life, I'd rather be a commoner and work as a janitor.

"Same location," He whimpered slowly like he was high on drugs, l hung up nodding like he was in front of me, l strolled out of the office with my left hand in my pocket, and l headed toward my favourite black colour Bentley Mulsanne and unbuttoned my specially designed navy blue stripe shirt as the guard popped the door open for me.

" Thank you, l said, taking a seat, Take me to Kai's school," l said to my driver, David.

"Yes sir."

I sat there and hawk at the sceneries through the windshield having a slight smile on my face with the thought that Kai will be surprised to see me, he won't imagine l will pick him up at school, l only know that l miss him and l want to spend more time with my son, l won't let him feel lonely like my his Grandfather makes me feel.

" We are here Sir, l will go get him," David said, stepping out of the Car, l stepped outside, even though it might cause a commotion and unnecessary attention, yet l stood waiting and looking around for my son.

"Papa," He called out, running heavily on his steps.

"Watch your steps, Kai, l smile at my Ten-year-old boy, Kai Kai, l went slightly on my knee and left a tender kiss on his forehead as my heart fluttered with joy as those little hands wrapped around my neck.

"Papa, you came?" He muttered passionately, l ran my fingers through his black classics styled hair just like mine

" l have been really busy with work Kai, l miss you so much.

" l don't believe you," he said taking a step back, he has every right not to believe me, we stay under the same roof but we rarely see eye to eye, most days l come back from work he might have already fallen asleep, his nanny would complain how he waited for me so we could have dinner together, which l tend to forget as it either l go straight to the bar after work, or I'm probably warming a man's bed, l don't deserve to be a father.

I know l spend limited time with him and that is something I intend to change before it is too late

" l will make you believe me, l dab on his tiny nose as he squints his eyes giving me the most perfect eye smile, I will treat you to ice cream and spend the whole day with you l promise baby.
