Chapter 3 Everleigh

Everleigh's POV

One year later.

One year passed and still I can't forget the man who helps me escaped that sucking prison.

But also one year passed, when I heard the news about Jackson-my soon to be husband freaking cheated on me! How the f*ck could the world be so cruel at me?!

Good thing I didn't gave him my virginity. The hell he is!

I closed my shower and put on my robe. Dad wants me to look presentable when the body guard he hired arrived.

The hell! I have tons of body guards! And going to clubs with body guards sucks!

But ever since the tragedies happened, many people say I changed, from angelic to devil queen. Hell I care. Who won't if you got kidnapped, you got your beloved boyfriend cheated on you?! My Dad almost got heart attack for worrying about me. I can't lose Dad, Mom is already in heaven. I'm not yet ready to be abandoned.

The fact that I don't have any siblings definitely makes me so bored here at our house. Dad isn't always here, he's so busy. He is married with his job.

As soon as I went out of the bathroom, I heard a knock.

"Yes?"

"Ms. Scott, the car is ready. Should I call your Dad you are leaving?"

"No!" I shouted. "Don't tell him! He will scold me for sure."

"Yes, Ms. Scott."

I finished my skin care routine. I didn't die my hair; it is naturally beautiful with its bit wavy, brown color. I let it hang. I put a light make up on. I wore a white crop top and black ripped jeans. I have long legs so it fits perfectly.

I grab my pink shoulder bag, and off I go.

I went downstairs where our maids and body guards lined up. It sucks whenever they do that. I felt a heated thing in my chest that makes me want to smack them off one by one. They are only crowding our house; they are guarding but I don't feel safe at all. I hate their presence. I feel like I'll have another horror of my life.

I walk to the garage. One guard opened the car. I secretly rolled my eyes in annoyance.

I entered the car. "Take me to my favorite place," I said to my driver.

He's only five months. He is old but never fails on driving. He drives racer cars before-written in his résumé.

Though he knows I hated him, still he cares for me like I'm his only granddaughter. He is alone in life. His wife passed away, and his only son went missing never had a closure with their old arguments.

I took a glance at him. Usually, this old man would talk about his day and will bombard me with questions.

"D-Don't try to go inside the cafe, okay?" I said, trying to start a conversation with him.

He smiled and nodded.

This is odd! Why isn't he asking me tons of questions and nags about my attitude?

We arrived at my favorite cafe. I always come here for past time. Except from their famous snacks and delicacies, I love their mini library. Book is where I find peace.

My driver stopped and got out of the car to open up the door for me. When he opened, I carefully got out of the car. I noticed a difference on his cheerful eyes.

I was about to walk to the door, but then I stopped and faced him.

"Hey, old man, come with me."

"Ma'am?"

I rolled my eyes, he doesn't call me ma'am; he calls me by my name.

"If you have a problem, talk to me, inside," I said, before entering the cafe. I heard him closing the car, and followed me.

I found a spot where there is no a lot of people. I ordered a Chocolate Ice Cream, and bread with cheese for him. I only asked for service water with ice.

"Tell me, spill." I crossed my arms and stare at him with an arched eyebrow.

He sighed. There it is; something is bothering him.

He looked away. "Your... Your father already hired someone who'll be your personal guard. And I'm afraid he said you won't need me, so I need to resign."

My forehead creased. "What?!" my voice raised, making people looked at me.

"Everleigh, lower your voice-"

"Well, I won't let that happen! You'll still be my driver and body guard!"

"Everleigh-"

"I'll talk to that old brat, don't worry. I'll rather smack that new recruit! Besides, I don't need them, I have tons guarding me!"

I didn't mind people gawking at me. They must have heard the news about me and my crazy attitude, yeah. Articles about that spread all over, I even gone to psychologist for advices. Traumas got full of me.

They concluded that is a ripple effect from what happened to me at the very young age. I saw with my two eyes how Mom being shot by a gun with those motorcycle riders. Our name definitely bangs the terrorist and criminals ears, our surname shouts for money. Father will definitely catch every single one of them.

Yes, yes, Dad puts a lot of money and helps the criminal justices. He was a former prosecutor.

But he is competitive enough to start a business of wine, eventually became clothes. Mom suggested beauty products. Fast food chains and a lot more!

All of them will be mine someday.

Our order arrived. The waitress placed it with gentle. As soon as she finished, she walks away.

I grab the spoon. "This is pissing me off!" I fork a piece of my Chocolate ice cream.

"It's fine-"

"No it's not!" Ice cream in my mouth almost blew out. I don't even know if he manage to understand my statement.

He sighed. "Don't talk when your mouth is full. How many times do I have to tell you?"

I smirked secretly. Now, I think his mood cheered up. He started nagging.

"Yeah," I answered.

After eating at the cafe, we drove home. My father called him and said we need to face his new hired personal body guard of mine, waiting at his office.

"Argh! I'm tired of these guards!"
