As if sensing what was happening, Ally pulled me closer to her and spun us around, placing herself against the guy in my place and lifted a hand up and behind his neck to pull him closer to her for a very wet and intense looking kiss. I took that moment to walk away and get myself another drink from the kitchen wondering if I just wasn't drunk enough to have as much fun as Ally seemed to be having.
I passed other couples dry humping one another on any surface and in any corner they could find. A few heading up towards the dorm rooms on the floors above us.
I stumbled in my stilettos stepping over a guy's legs as he sat on the floor with his back against the wall, yelling how he was a god of lust and orgasms with promises that he could find any girls golden spot. I shuddered at the lewd gestures he made with his fingers and tongue, catching myself on the kitchen island to fix my balance before I could fall to the floor myself.
"Careful, deities may heal fast but a wack to the head still hurts." A handsome guy said from the other side of the island. He was cute. Soft curly brown hair and crystal blue eyes. They were a family blue but I couldn't quite place it with my brain fogged by alcohol.
"What do you mean?" I asked him as I straightened up as best I could with the world spinning around me.
"You looked like you were about to fall face first into the island. Why don't you take those shoes off before you kill yourself. I can put them up for you where they'll be safe." He offered, pointing to my heels.
"How do I know you don't have some weird shoe fetish and I'll never see them again. I just bought these today!" I slurred, the liquid courage hindering my ability to think before I speak.
The guy just laughed as he came around the island towards me. "Well that is a good point, but I guess you will just have to take my word for it." He offered his hand and I shook it making him laugh again. "Nice to meet you but I was offering to take your shoes for you."
"Oh," I laughed, reaching down and taking my shoes off. "How will I get them back from you?"
"What house are you from? I can take them to you tomorrow." He replied, tucking my shoes under his arm.
"Fertility." I sang, sighing in relief as I realized my feet had been aching in the shoes.
"Oh, then easy. I actually have a few items to take there tomorrow. I'm Alex by the way."
"Hadie." I replied with a smile. "So is your job to collect things from drunk girls and return them to them the next morning? Why aren't you drunk too? This is a party right?"
He chuckled. "My father told me a host should always stay clear headed to tend to his guests. Especially when one of the guests is my sister."
"Oh, thats a good lesson to be taught then." I replied, reaching for another shot of blue liquid. "Cheers!"
Alex shook his head as he took the empty shot glass from me and sat it on the counter. "You seem like you might need to be cut off there Hadie."
"Oh, maybe. This is my first time drinking. Shhh." I told him, giggling as I held a finger to my lips.
Alex chuckled, "Well, you hide it well, but maybe you want to lay down for a bit, clear your head a bit?"
I tilted my head to the side as I considered his offer. Looking him up and down I decided he wasn't a bad looking guy and I wouldn't mind giving him my first kiss. If not Evander then Alex, with the pretty and familiar blue eyes, would be good. Obviously if he was wanting to take me to a room to lay down he wanted to kiss me right?
I nodded and took his hand as he lead me out the kitchen and up the stairs towards the dorm rooms. He took me to the very top floor and one the farthest room from the stairs, I had been told these top floors were for gods with good bloodlines. The thought making me wonder about my own bloodline as I stumbled along with Alex.
This floor was actually pretty quiet, and no one else seemed to be up in these rooms. Alex opened the door, gesturing for me to enter first and I smiled at what a gentleman he was.
The room was surprisingly clean aside from some shoes and purses thrown over a reclining chair in front of a large tv. The bed was queen sized, plush pillows and a soft duvet made over it, so fluffy, like a cloud. I flopped into it and sighed as my eyes fluttered shut.
"Make yourself comfortable." Alex told me, closing the door behind him and setting my shoes down on the chair with the other items before coming over to the bed and pulling at the blanket underneath me.
I arched my back up, allowing him to pull the blanket back then lifted my feet to allow him to finish pulling the blanket down. He leaned over me and on pure impulse I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips to his.
The world felt like it melted away and sparks flew as he kissed me back. His lips were softer than I'd imagined, gentle as he kissed me back. I opened my mouth for him and just as our tongues met, he pulled back.
"Whoa there Hon. As much as I would love continuing to kiss you, you are less than sober and I can't take advantage of you. My mother raised me better than that." He told me, making me pout. "You lay here, if you fall asleep thats fine. There is a trash bin next to the bed here if you feel sick. I'll check on you in a few minutes."
As soon as he left the room, I felt my eyes begin to burn with tears. That was not what I expected for my first kiss. That was embarrassing and so short lived. I rolled over and faced the wall as I bit my lip to keep from crying at my own stupidity. What was I thinking?
At some point I fell asleep. I couldn't even remember what all happened with the party or how I got back to my room. Groaning as the sunlight leaked through my lids, I rubbed my eyes and rolled over to get out of bed. I needed to go to the bathroom, but as I rolled, my leg and arm collided with a hard body laying next to me. My eyes flew open and I sat up with a jolt looking down at the man asleep next to me.
My heart nearly jumped out of my chest as I looked around and realized I was not in my own room. Panic setting in, I quickly took catalogue of my body and sighed with relief when I found myself still fully dressed. Aside from my feet, head and stomach, I was completely pain free.
A rush of nausea swept over me and my shock of being in a strange bed with a random guy was put aside as I scrambled over him, waking him up with a knee to his groin, to get out of the bed and to the bathroom.
"Huh, what? Oh shit, trash bin Hadie! Here!" The guy yelled, grabbing a trash can from beside the bed and sticking it under my chin just in time for me to empty my entire stomach.
I groaned as my head hung in the trash can, hugging it to my chest while the guy rubbed my back with one hand and held my hair back with the other. The action relaxing my fears of waking up in his bed as he comforted me.
"First hangovers are rough but you'll survive Hadie. I promise." He whispered to me. "I'll get you some medicine if you want."
I glanced up from the trash can, looking at the face of my savior. He had crystal blue eyes and sun kissed skin and his smile reminded me of Ally, actually, he looked just like her.
My eyes widened as realization came over me. Ally had a brother in Creation House, he was a Creation God like her dad.
"Are you by chance Ally's brother?" I asked with a cracking voice, my throat raw from throwing up.
Mr blue eyes smiled, still rubbing my back and nodded. "Yeah, Ally is my sister. I wondered if you knew her when you said you belong to Fertility house."
"I told you that?" I asked, turning my head back to the trash can as I felt another wave of nausea hit me.
He laughed, pulling more of my hair into his hand as he saw me bury my face into the bin. "You don't remember last night do you." He stated, no question to the remark.
I shook my head before dry heaving into the trash can, my stomach feeling empty, only acid coming up. I spit the nasty taste out of my mouth and groaned.
"Well, my name is Alex, I told you last night, but since you forgot I guess you get to meet me for the first time again. Oh and you kissed me last night. But that's as far as anything went. In case you were worried."
I jerked my head up and gasping then winced as pain ricocheted in my head from the quick movement.
"I was tucking you in the bed to let you sleep off the booze and you surprised me for a moment. You are a pretty good kisser by the way." He told me, giving me an amused grin, his blue eyes sparkling back at me. "If you don't mind me saying."
I felt my cheeks burn, hiding my face back into the trash can, but the smell of my own sick had me pushing it away from me. Taking the bin, Alex set it back down on the ground, getting out of bed and stretching his arms above his head with a growl. I couldn't help noticing his shirtless, golden chest. He looked like he belonged on a California beach right along with Ally. My eyes following the hard lines all the way down until I found a V disappearing into his basket ball shorts he wore as pajamas.
"You feeling up to getting up? You can use my shower to clean up and borrow a shirt and sweat pants if you need." He told me, snapping my eyes back up to his face. He smiled at me, and nodded his head towards the door leading to his en-suite . "It could help you feel better."
Slowly, I eased myself out of his bed and went into his bathroom. I was surprised to find it was not as tidy as his bedroom. Razors and toothpaste tubes littered the counter beside his sink and a toilet paper roll sat on the back of the toilet with an empty roll still on the dispenser. In his shower, I had to shake three empty bottles of body wash to find one with some product in it. The whole ordeal made me chuckle. His bedroom was so well kept, but his private bathroom was an absolute wreck, as if two separate people lived in the dorm.
When I got out of the shower I wrapped myself in a towel before peeking out into the room to find it empty. Walking out I looked around to find a set of clothes on the desk with a note on top.
'Hadie, figured you would want to change without an audience. Here are some clothes that should fit you, I went to get some coffee.-Alex'
I smiled and pulled on the clothes, the shirt was a plain white t-shirt, little over sized for my body but it fit me well enough. The grey sweat pants had a drawstring that I was able to tie tight around my waist to keep them from falling off. I found my stilettos on the reclining chair next to the bathroom door among other girls shoes and purses.
I frowned at the sight put picked up my shoes and gathered my clothes from the bathroom just as a knock came on the bedroom door.
"You decent?" Alex's voice called out from the other side.
I called back that I was and Alex slipped back into his room with a paper cup of coffee in one hand and some packets of creamer and sugar in the other. He handed me the coffee, saying he wasn't sure how I drank it as he handed over the creamer and sugar.
With a thanks, I accepted them and began pouring the creamer and sugar into the cup until the color of the coffee looked closer to chocolate milk than coffee. Taking a small sip, I sighed as the hot brew slid down my throat.
"I'll walk you back to your house, I have some deliveries to make there and at the Love and Beauty house, as you can see." He explained, gathering the shoes and purses from the recliner.
"How do you know who's shoes are who's?" I questioned, watching him organized the shoes and purses into separate groups.
"Oh, I have a photographic memory. You would have been the hardest for me to find since last night was the first time I met you. But most of these shoes and purses go to girls that I've known for awhile now. The world of Deities is smaller than you would think. Bloodlines tend to stay close."
"So, do you think someone here could know my bloodline then?" I asked, turning my attention to my coffee cup as if it was the most interesting cup in the world.
I felt Alex's eyes on me, "So you are THAT new goddess huh?"
"Huh?" I peeked back over to him finding him looking me up and down curiously.
"I hadn't heard your name yet. Ally and I haven't hung out all week or I probably would have, but I have heard that we got a new goddess with an unknown bloodline in school. Again, the deity world is small, gossip travels fast. Even my mom has heard about you and she is human. I have heard of possible links, but my dad and his office are still investigating them."
"Possible links? What does that mean?"
Alex gestured to the door holding four shopping bags filled with shoes and purses. "I'll tell you on the way. If I don't deliver this stuff soon I'll have goddesses breaking down my door.". Stepping out of his door barefoot, I held my heels by the loose straps, and followed him down and out of the house.
Alex told me how a couple small bloodlines had came forward claiming me as their long lost child. Told me that his and Ally's father was one of the gods investigating the claims, but so far the claims were being classified as suspicious.
"Not all bloodlines are equal. And the few who are coming forward are some of the lowest level bloodlines. My dad said that they most likely heard how powerful you potentially are and want to claim you to raise their own status."
"I'm powerful?" I asked taking a slow sip of my coffee. "I don't feel powerful."
Alex laughed, leading the way towards the House of Love and Beauty. "Well most likely you won't feel it, it would just feel normal to you because you were born with it. My dad says that from what he has found investigating your background since they found you, you definitely have potential to be one of the strongest deities born in centuries."
I frowned, wrinkling my nose. I didn't like the idea that so many people seemed to be learning things about me that I didn't even know, all while I was unaware of them even looking. I stood behind Alex as he knocked on the house door, lost in my own thoughts until I heard the annoying whining voice of Anne as the door opened.
"Vandy, why are you leaving so early." I looked up and around Alex, past the girl who answered the door and met eyes with Evander who was making his way towards door himself, pulling shoes on as he walked.
He froze as our eyes met, looking me up and down, then at Alex and narrowed his eyes. I watched him with my own eyes narrowed, saw the lipstick stains on his collar and Anne who was once again, hanging on his arm as always, pressing her body against him, wiggling and sliding a hand down his chest.
Alex, completely oblivious to the scene behind the goddess at the door was going thru the bag of heels and purses, stating names for each one as he handed them to the girl. She smiled, accepting each one and thanking Alex for taking care of their things for them. She shut the door as Alex turned away and placed a hand on my back softly to lead me towards my house, across the path. Just as we turned and started walking away, I heard the door open and close again behind us.
"Hey Little Warrior, didn't take you for the walk of shame kind of girl." He said, a bitter edge to his voice. I cringed, looking back at him. No sign of the god I had joked with and fantasized about kissing just yesterday.
Alex scoffed, "You're one to talk dude, and she isn't taking the walk of shame. She was too sick to go home last night. I'm helping her back now."
I stared daggers at Evander as he ignored Alex and glared right back at me until I turned back around and headed towards Fertility House with Alex right beside me. I heard Evander curse under his breath, stalking off towards his own house. A dark voice in the back of my head told me I should make him regret sleeping with Anne, but that voice was quickly pulled back to the recesses of my mind as the more logical side reminded me that he isn't my boyfriend. I literally have only known him for a couple days.
"You okay?" Alex asked, pulling me out of my own head.
"Yeah, I'm just tired I think." I told him, shrugging my shoulders.
"Well, don't worry about any rumors. I'll be sure to let people know the truth, minus you kissing me." He winked at the reminder, bringing another deep blush to my cheeks.
"Wish I could at least remember that part." I sighed. "But at least I know my first kiss was with someone nice."
Alex choked on air, coughing and sputtering, staring at me with widened eyes. "That was your first kiss?" I nodded, looking forward towards the Fertility house.
"I'm so sorry Hon." His voice was full of regret and drew my attention back to him.
"Why?"
"Because, you don't remember it. I should have done better to prevent something like that happening."
"You don't have to blame yourself. You told me I kissed you. I shouldn't have been so drunk."
Alex shook his head. "No, I was the sober one, I should have kept better control of the situation. And also, I kind of kissed you back for a moment before I realized what I was doing." I watched him scratch the back of his neck regret written on his face.
We were quiet as we entered the yard of fertility house. That silence broken as the door threw open with a crash, Ally and Candy rushing out the door towards me.
"Oh thank deitus! You have her!" Ally cried out, throwing her arms around me. "I was so worried! Alex why didn't you text me that you had her!"
Candy gave me a hug too and pulled out her phone, sending a group message out that she found me. It was at that moment I realized I didn't have my phone on me. I knew I had it when I got to the party, and panic began to set in.
"My phone!" I cried out looking at a Alex hopefully.
"I have it." Ally said, pulling it from her back pocket. "You gave it to me last night while we were dancing to take a picture of you with that random Wine and Music God we were vibing with."
She then turned back to her brother and punched his arm.
"Ow, what the hell Ally, I didn't know she was your friend. You didn't even text me asking if I had her."
Ally crossed her arms. "You still should have texted, I know you asked her what house she belonged too."
Alex shrugged, "Fertility house is a big house. How was I to know. You haven't even talked to me all week."
Ally narrowed her eyes at him for a moment before holding out her hand. "Whatever, who's shoes and purses do you have for us?"
Alex rambled thru names, some I knew, others I didn't and Candy and Ally took them from him. Both nodding and stating they would get them to their rightful owners.
Just as I moved to head inside Alex called out to me. "Can I have just a minute to ask you something?"
Ally gave him a smile, raising a brow while Candy wiggled hers at me. Both girls running up the path and stood on the porch watching us at the short distance.
"It may not completely make up for stealing your first kiss, but I assume you have never been on a date right?" I gave him a confirming nod, blushing as I looked down at my feet. "Then can I make your first date the best date ever?"
"Are you asking me out?" I looked up and smiled, finding him blushing.
He let out a nervous laugh that seemed so out of place with the confident demeanor he had shown this morning. "Yeah, I am."
"Then, yeah, I'd like that."
"Great! How about Friday? I can pick you up at six."
"Yeah, that sounds good." I told him, feeling my blush creep back up my cheeks.
"Alright. Great." Alex nervously put his hands in his pocket and rocked on his feet. "I'll see you later then. Tell Ally to give you my number-"
"Already put it in her phone!" Ally called out from the porch, interrupting her brother, making him laugh.
"Alright, feel free to text me. Rest up Hon."
At that, he backed away, smiling until he passed the fence line around the yard and made his way back towards the Creation House. I watched him for a moment before turning towards the house and facing the beaming smiles of not only Ally and Candy, but Chloe and Tamera who had appeared on the porch with them.
"Our little Hadie is growing up!" Tamera cried out, pulling me into a hug as I stepped onto the porch with them.
I laughed, then groaned as nausea crept back up. "I need to go back to bed."
My friends chuckled and teased me on my lack of holding my liquor while they led me into the house and helped me up the stairs to my room. Ally pulled my phone and keys from her pocket, handing both to me before I disappeared into my room and fell straight into my bed, face down in my pillow. Sighing with relief as I fell back to sleep.
