Chapter 4 Hire me

"My name is Herman Rainer. I got into your office through the door and you didn't realize it because you were too engrossed in your thoughts and the file you were holding. I'm here to become your personal secretary."

" And who the hell are you to think that I'd hire you as my personal secretary!" I asked him a with a serious look. I wasn't thinking straight because he was too close, I could feel his breath on my face. He sighed and moved a little distance. Still I didn't move because I needed to catch a breath.

"Because you're going to fire your secretary at this instant!" He said and I rolled my eyes.

" What made you think I'd do that?"

"Well, your secretary, Linda, has a relationship with your assistant, Julius..."

I cut him off before he could finish.

"Everybody knows that and furthermore we don't forbid relationships in the company!" I said and laughed softly.

" Lemme finish first, Belle! She is helping him to get that file you're overprotective with."

I heard him say and it now dawned to me what was happening. Apart from me, Linda knows most of my confidential staff in my office. How the hell would Julius know my passwords if there is no one to tell him? My computer was on when I came in. I was not suprised because I knew who was behind it. I even saw the security alert I'm my mobile phone that someone is trying to open my safe when I got into the company. Thanks to technology. My passwords are all linked to my mobile so I know when someone is trying to interfere.

"Last year, July date 17 you lost your sketch book which you had draft designs of your own, She is the one who took it and gave it to Julius and you had to step down from the audition. Do you know why suddenly your client Mrs Mayers dropped down the contract? It was your secretary who called her on your behalf and cancelled it. So I'm warning you early enough, this girl you call your secretary will put you in a big mess if you don't take caution."

After hearing him, I was really furious, so I walked out and the man stood at the door watching me as I scolded my secretary.

"How many of my drafts have you stolen?" I asked her and she looked shocked.

"Ms Belle, what are you talking about?"

"I don't think you're even worth my time Linda, I thought I'd trust you? You're fired and never show me your stupid face!"

I didn't give her a chance to say anything and walk back into my office. The guy was sitting on MY chair.

" I think that is very rude of you, Mr Herman!"

" I'm sorry, I thought I'd enjoy sitting here since I'm not yet your secretary. Don't worry I'm going to behave if you hire me. I'll make sure Julius learns his lesson for the sins he had done!"

" You seem to know a lot of things!" I said to him when he stood up to walk out.

"Don't worry, I'm going to help you, that's my mission here. You're going to learn everything because I'll make you learn whether you like it or not!"

I just smiled at him when he didn't turn to the door. " I hope you don't mind me complimenting my boss, I love your dressing code today!" With that he left and I was still blushing for what he said. I had tried copying his dressing code! And he was indeed wearing what Stacy told me earlier. So he really was at my place!

Later in the evening when I left my office I saw him waiting for me infront of my car. I was surprised by this man.

"Just when I thought you'd leave me alone after making sure my secretary is fired!" I told him and he chuckled. I just nodded my head as I stood infront of him.

"If you excuse me, I need to drive home!" I told him but he still didn't move.

" Can I drive you? And I'd want a favour in return!" He said as he crossed his arms across his broad chest. I gave him the keys. I was curious, I wanted to know what he wanted from me.

He opened the front passenger's seat for me and he got on the driver's seat.

"So, what is it,that you want?" I asked him without looking at him.

" Hire me as your secretary, let me stay at your house because I'm homeless. I'll do anything in return. You don't have to pay me salary. I can cook, wash, clean also be your personal bodyguard. Just let me stay at your place. If I do things wrong, you're free to chase me away!"

I stared at him blankly," You, homeless! You're unbelievable! You even came to my party dress all royal and stuff!"

" Yes it's true, I'm not just an ordinary homeless. I'm extraordinary homeless because I can't go back to my home until I finish my task here!" He said.

" What task?" I asked him.

" Helping you. I promise to leave after I make sure you're stable enough to carry on with your life!" He said glancing at me before resuming driving.

"I can take care of myself, Mr Herman. So what do you mean exactly?" I asked him confused.

" Just trust me with this one only. I assure you, you are in great danger. You don't know how many enemies you have because of this project you're overprotective with. Infact they want the whole company!"

" What if you're lying to me?" I asked him. Well I partly believed his words but I was scared. What if he's just lying and would stab me with a double sword?

"I have no reason to lie to you Belle Charlotte!"
