Chapter 5 Scared

Carrie's POV

"What do you mean?"

I ignored him and walked into my room. I wasn't ready to be rude to anyone, but I was just annoyed that my mom didn't care about my dad, but she only cared about her friends. Mrs.

Donna's offer came into my mind again, and I found myself thinking about it. I was very sure she would transfer my dad to a better medical hospital if I could sign the contract and become her son's nanny.

The doctor's words also seemed to disturb me. I only had less than two months to find that huge sum of money, and I didn't even know where to get it. My only hope was that contract, but could I do the job?

Considering the fact that Mrs. Donna doesn't even like me, I was ready to do anything to make my father feel better, and if it meant signing that contract, I'd definitely do it.

I felt very dirty and went to the shower. After I had a quick bath, I felt rejuvenated and decided to take a walk outside the house, carrying my first-aid box along.

Sitting on a park bench, I wanted to test my nanny skills and see if I could take care of kids. There were kids of all ages chasing each other and having fun.

Seeing them made me excited and warmed my heart.

My attention zeroed in on a small boy who had just fallen off the swing, and no one seemed to care.

Was he alone?

I rushed over to him and was surprised to see that he was not crying. I had expected him to cry, but he just stared blankly at me. "My daddy doesn't like me talking to strangers." He politely said, and I definitely understood his dad.

"Are you okay, sweetheart?" I asked.

He nodded, and I placed my first aid box on the floor. I found a band and placed it on his knee. "Ow,"

I responded, trying to show that I was not in any way dangerous, that I wasn't there to kidnap him and that would never ever be my intention. "Where are you, parents?" I asked him.

"My dad's probably busy in the office." He answered.

I knew he wouldn't come there alone.

"Alright kid, who did you come with?"

"My father is a part-time driver who occasionally picks me up from school." He replied and pointed to a young man standing behind a black SUV.

I nodded.

His family was really rich.

"That's wonderful." I retorted.

"Thanks."

I gulped and decided to introduce myself to him. "I'm Carrie Anderson, and you?"

"I'm David," he smiled. His blue eyes made him look more adorable. "David Rogers."

"Nice name you've got."

"Thanks ma'am, I'll just head back." He replied and walked back to the car.

I heaved a sigh of relief and stood up. I definitely loved kids, and that was the reason I was able to help him. Maybe I should take Mrs. Donna's offer; it might help.

Thinking about everything, I decided to hang around that environment for a while and see if there were more kids to help. I just liked helping kids because I was once like them and even though people didn't help me, I shouldn't be bitter and not help other kids. I'll give birth one day and also pray that someone should help my kid. "

What are you doing in a place like this? " A young masculine voice that brought me back to my memory asked I could recognize the voice even without looking at the person. It was Andrew, my ex-boyfriend, who was back to make my life more miserable, perhaps.

I frowned and slowly turned to look at him. I should be asking you that question. What are you doing here? You are jobless enough to even monitor me and... "

He cut in sharply. "I'm not jobless and I would never be jobless. My father is the owner of ten companies, which he distributed to his sons. I'm not sure I can ever be broke like you or your family. "

And here he was again. He still had his rude nature and behavior. I knew he wasn't going to change.

"Fine, you're not jobless."

"I'm also the CEO of two companies, in case you might want a job there."

I would rather die than work in his company where he could control me and make my life a living hell. Andrew was a man I would never wish my enemy to date. I would never even want him in my next life. He would mock me for every reason and didn't care to protect me when I got in trouble. "

Your organization is not even on the list of places I won't visit, so don't think I would even work there. I don't care about you honestly. Just leave my life alone. "

"I have something important to tell you, and if you must listen, you better do..."

I interrupted him, angrily. "Why are you so arrogant?"

"Your life will be in danger in the next few weeks."

My heart slowly started beating. I was just an unknown girl. What was he talking about? Before I could say a word, he hurriedly left in his car. He probably didn't want the media to see us talking together.
