Chapter 5 Unworthy Relatives

After he was done, he pressed the enter button and shut his eyes. He opened one seconds later to have a peek and sighed.

Once again, he failed. But now unlike before he felt he was closer to opening the album. Gently, he dropped the camera beside his bed.

"Xander?" A frail voice called out walking in through the already opened door.

Seeing the camera, she paused. She didn't know why but her son had changed a lot after returning home with the camera years back.

He no longer threw himself off the stairs, neither did he try to drown himself.

"I thought I found her mom" Xander muttered sadly, his head now hung down sadly.

The sight greatly saddened his mother who rushed to him.

"Xan, she promised to come find you right?"

"What if she has forgotten or can't find me. My only glue is opening the camera's album myself" he muttered.

The woman bit her lips in a contemplating manner. She would've suggested having hacking it open but knew very well her son wouldn't accept.

She sighed and kept silent having exhausted herself and still couldn't come up with a tangible solution.

Xander who's head had been lowered the whole time suddenly raised it. His eyes were glimmering.

"Mom" he called out, "can you help me search out someone's identity?"

The woman raised a brow obviously surprised. However she couldn't say no to her son.

"Alright, I'll inform your dad about it"

At the mention of the word 'dad', Xander's expression darkened. "If you're gonna involve him then I'll do myself!"

He stood up afterwards and walked throw a door situated at a corner of the room, shutting the door with a loud bang.

The woman who was obviously not fazed by the sound, rubbed her nose in a conflicted manner.

"So it turns out Martin Hunt has a twin? Impossible!" Dan muttered out furiously.

Amelia who sat at the edge of her bed, her mouth full and a plate of strawberry on her laps, quietly watched Dan pace to and fro.

"Impossible? Why?" She asked popping strawberry inside her mouth.

Dan stopped moving. He walked towards Amelia and mouthed something to her.

Her brows slammed together obviously vexed. After some minutes, she asked: "so, what do we do?"

He smacked his lips, then drew them into a thin line before saying, "Watch him closely although I know he's also watching you"

Amelia who was getting excited hissed. Why play hide and seek games when the other would still end up in a terrible state!

"Exercise patience Amelia" Dan warned.

Amelia shrugged. She was, if she wasn't half of the city's influential figured would've all turned out dead.

"How about i inflict a little psychological trauma?" She suggested lightly.

Dan was already relieved she listened to him, so he nodded instantly but said, "Just don't lead them to their death"

"As you wish"

The two were interrupted with a knock on the door. Swallowing the last bit of Strawberries in her mouth, Amelia called out, "Who's it?"

"Miss Amelia sorry to interrupt you but your uncle is currently waiting for you downstairs. May I know if to chase him off?" A female voice answered behind the door.

"I'll be right there."

The staff nodded, then turned around and descended downstairs.

Amelia left Dan and walked out of the room. She was clad in a black sport shorts and a cropped top.

She walked into the living room to see a middle aged man with a sprouting white beard on his head and face.

"Amelia" the man called out and stood up, his face was squeezed up in a smile bringing out his ugly wrinkles.

Amelia hummed and sat opposite him. The way she spread her arms and hazed at him felt like though a cat was clawing at his heart.

Seconds later, a smile graced Amelia's face and she laughed lightly. "Uncle, you look quite agitated. Are you alright?"

The man swallowed nervously. Years ago he had sworn in his heart to snatch the reins of wealth of the hands of the girl in front of him but now...

"Amelia" he called out softly. "The house you assigned to me now has some leakages"

Amelia curled her lips into a smile. "Ok?"

Hearing her, the man was encouraged to continue. "I've tried fixing it a few times but it's not working. Every night when it's windy, the patched places always gets blown off"

"Go straight to the point!" Amelia snapped getting impatient at the man's slow way of speaking.

"What I'm trying to say is, can your cousin, your aunt and I move back to the mansion with you. We promise not to disturb" The man finally said.

The man lowered his head and a sharp glint flashed through his eyes. He stayed that way for minutes then raised his head wondering why she was keeping silent.

Amelia's eyes had gone cold but her facial expression was filled with smile.

The man was so dumb that he failed to notice the freezing temperature.

Amelia clicked her tongue after some minutes, with a cool voice, she muttered, "You're free to come whenever you want while you reconstruct your home. However, you are prohibited from going upstairs. You and your family can inhabit the second floor. Also, don't order the staffs however you please, I employed them, not you"

The disrespect the man heard in the sentence almost made him spit blood. However, remembering why he was there, he swallowed down his grievance and only gave at an ingratiating smile.

"No problem"

Amelia smiled back in return. Having no other business, the man turned around and walked towards a side of the house which was equipped with an elevator.

After the elevator closed, his phone rang.

"How did it go? Did she accept?" A woman's voice came from the other end.

Totally having no idea a camera had been stuck in almost every enclosed place in the house including the Elevator, he nodded and said, "She's a child afterall."
