Chapter 3 Revenge

Arshan patted Brendan's shoulder gently. "I'll be waiting to hear from you. Stay strong, bro. You're not alone."

The call for the passengers to board the plane to Dubai sounded again. Brendan and Jake hugged Arshan and watched their best friend disappear behind the door to the plane.

"So you're really going to do your thing?" Jake asked. "What about your mother? She must be very sad."

"She'll understand," Brendan muttered. "Can Harry help me with the motorbikes?"

"Of course. You know Harry. I'll help you with my savings and, here's something from Arshan. He left it last night when we got home from the club."

Jake handed Brendan a long, thick envelope who accepted it wide-eyed. He looked into the envelope.

"This is Arshan's car ownership certificate, that yellow car? Why did he give it to me?"

"Arshan has spoken to Harry and he's willing to pay a hefty price for the car. You can use the money for you, Arshan said."

Brendan was on the verge of tears. He poked Jake's arm playfully. "You love me very much, don't you?"

Jake made a gag like he was about to throw up and they laughed as they walked out of the airport.

Brendan goes inside the house and hears a noise from the kitchen. He didn't go in there at all but walked straight to the second floor.

Sheryn saw Brendan's car parked on the side of the road next to the sidewalk and heard him enter and walked straight to the second floor.

"Bren," Sheryn called from under the stairs. "Can we talk first?"

Brendan looked down from the middle of the stairs. Sheryn's face was sad and her smile was weak. It had been several days since that night and Brendan had not spoken to anyone. He passed Sheryn and David as if they were invisible.

Wyland hadn't been back home since that night but Brendan overheard Sheryn calling him and asking how Lyla was. Brendan came down the stairs and stood before his mother.

Sheryn couldn't take it anymore and hugged Brendan crying into his chest. Brendan rubbed Sheryn's back gently.

"Don't cry, Mom."

"I'm sorry, Baby. I should have listened to what you had to say first. I have contributed to breaking your heart. I'm sorry," Sheryn sobbed.

"No, Mom, it's not your fault. In the end you're still going to marry David. You love each other. It's the bastard's fault as well as Lyla's. They both spit in my face while I was thinking too highly of believing they both really love me. stupid to see the truth."

Sheryn wiped her tears and distanced herself from Brendan. "They ... are getting married," Sheryn said nervously. "Lyla's pregnancy is in its twelfth week and it will be visible soon. Wyland wants to marry her before then."

Brendan laughed, sarcastically and bitterly. "Of course. Wyland is the perfect master. Go ahead. I can't do anything either. Tell that bastard I won't get in his way at all. He needn't worry about it. Lyla is nothing to me now anyway. I do love her, but it's not worth the fact that she could easily open her legs for another man while in almost five years of dating I never even dared to squeeze her breasts because she always asked me to wait until our first night."

Brendan laughed and Sheryn's tears started to flow. Brendan stroked Sheryn's shoulder gently. "Be happy, Mom. You'll have grandchildren soon."

Brendan continued upstairs and into his room. He looked around his room, satisfying the eye to see every element that filled the room, which he had occupied since childhood.

Brendan's eyes fell on a photo on the wall. The photo is at the age of five, with his parents. Brendan rode the blue bicycle, Greg and Sheryn knelt down to hug him on his right and left.

Next to the photo is his photo with Sheryn at the high school graduation ceremony. Brendan took the two pictures down and opened one of the two suitcases he had prepared and put the pictures in. Put it on a thick folder containing his personal documents.

Jake was coming over tonight to pick up his two suitcases. Brendan closed the suitcase and put it in the corner of the room. He lay down on the bed.

Tomorrow is the day of his interview with the company that called him. No one knows. Luckily he hadn't had time to tell anyone about the job.

Brendan has spoken to Mrs. Amy Loewn and asked permission to advance the interview schedule with the reasons he made. He couldn't stay in his house any longer.

He didn't want to hate his mother and David. They are innocent. However, in the end Wyland would return and he would definitely take Lyla with him. Brendan didn't want to lose control of himself and he might as well kill them both off when he got mad.

He will take revenge on them both in his own way. At the very least, he deserved compensation for his hurt and Wyland would pay for it.

Brendan didn't come down for dinner and he heard his mother and David leave just after dinner time. They were definitely going to where Wyland and Lyla were staying. Brendan knew that Wyland was in the process of paying off the apartment he bought and it was very likely that the two of them had fled there.

Jake arrived exactly half an hour later. He hauled Brendan's two suitcases into his car. He gave the key to Brendan. "I'll take your things over there and you can go straight into that tomorrow. I've already had someone clean it up so you can have a comfortable stay."

Brendan took the key and patted Jake on the back. "Thank you, Jake. I promise to repay your kindness one day."

Jake laughed. "Hey, stop it. You make me blush with words like that. Eww."

Jake left soon after and Brendan decided to go straight to bed.

In the morning, Brendan goes downstairs after hearing David leave in his car. Sheryn smiled and was a little surprised to see Brendan wearing a shirt and tie.

"Where are you going, Bren? You look so handsome."

Brendan smiled. He approached Sheryn and kissed her forehead. "I'm going to do a job interview."

"Owh congrats. I'm sure you'll get through this easily. You're a genius, Bren."

"Take good care of yourself, Mom. Don't be daydreaming while driving and stop practicing Mrs Prasad's recipes. They really don't taste good."

Sheryn laughed and hugged Brendan before he left. Brendan came out of his house and stayed behind the wheel of his car for a moment. He stared at the house for a moment. He might never see the house again after this.

Sheryn flashed through the window and Brendan wiped a drop of water that had fallen from the corner of his eye. "I love you, Mom, but I have to go now."

Brendan started the car and didn't look back. In her brightly lit kitchen, suddenly the glass in Sheryn's hand slipped and fell to the floor, shattering into pieces. Suddenly, Sheryn want to cry loudly.
