Chapter 4 Four - When Invading is a Hobby

I swiped my hotel room card on the sensor as the door opened. I put my bag on the desk near the door as I entered and switched on the lights.

I put my heels in the shoe box while my hands went to my ears, taking off the ear rings. I turned around and a scream erupted from my mouth as I got startled to see Mathew sitting on the arm chair beside the bed.

His brown eyes watched me with a knowing smirk as my stomach boiled in anger. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Oh! Is that how you welcome your would-be husband?" He asked with raising a brow.

I glared at him as I crossed my arms above my chest. "I haven't agreed yet."

"Oh, you will soon." Confidence sipped out of his smile as his eyes glinted.

It wasn't midnight but I was tired from all the journey then to the spa and I wanted to sleep and most of all, why the heck was he even doing here?

He literally had invaded in my room! Where did he even get the keys? I thought this hotel was best when it came to its security...

"Invading someone else's room at night, is that your new hobby?" I asked, sarcasm and anger mixed in my voice.

He chuckled and damn he was just so sexy like before. That chiseled jawline with his smoldering eyes that said he was a bit amused. It still had the same effects on me even though it had been nine fucking years.

I didn't let any of my emotions play on my face instead I kept glaring at him. He said while his eyes washed over me in a different way that it made my knees weak, "You have changed a lot."

Of course, I did. I wasn't the naive girl I used to be.

"You haven't changed a bit." I said.

His smirk broadened as if I praised him. "Of course, I am the same ol' me. The one with whom you had shared your first night."

He said it with a husky voice which made me shudder as I gave him a distaste filled look. "Leave before I call the security."

He laughed. "Call them then, who's stopping you?"

I was about to go pick the land line when he added, "After all the hotel is mine."

I halted. This hotel was his?!

I gave him a questioning glance as he said, "Of course, most of the casinos and hotels from LA are under me. I mean, under my father's command but as you can see, I am the next heir in line, so...this one is under my command."

He shrugged and I could see how spoiled he became. Was he always like that? But then I recall he had been acting with me ever since he proposed to me.

"Can you please get out?" I said as he finally stood up. He had become slightly taller. Well, a lot taller and his broad shoulders rested on his body perfectly as he slowly took his steps toward me. I hadn't taken a look at him that time but now that I did, I saw his tuxedo fitted him with so much perfection that he felt like a vogue model.

I tried to move away from him but he placed both of his hands on the wall on both sides of me as he captured me between him and the wall. My heart thumped as I staggered back but my back met with the wall.

His smirk never fell as he leaned forward and I caught my breath. What was he going to do? Why was he even going to do it? Will he kiss...

No. I would dare him to do so. Even thought I was angry, the butterflies in my belly fluttered.

But he didn't do anything. Instead his eyes washed over me one time and he said as his breath fanned over my skin, " Stacy Harper. You know you don't have a say in this because you have to marry me even if you like it or not."

"I would never marry you, Mathew." I said, my voice breathless and my heart pumping on my ears.

"As much as I don't want to marry you either, I have to since my good excuse of a father placed me under a condition."

I furrowed my brows. What condition and what did it have to do with me? I was getting confused.

"I'd never want to marry my ex-girlfriend, especially you but it is what it is." He said and broke my heart again. My lips were about to quiver but I clenched my teeth.

He still didn't have any feelings and he didn't have any feelings before as well. He reminded me that I was just a tool of his good time and a bet. He just confirmed it by saying those words. I didn't know what the conditions were but it was making my life hell.

"Then just leave me out of your and your father's conditions. I don't know what those are but I don't care." I said, my voice turning hoarse and for a moment, I thought I saw a little sadness on his face but it vanished immediately.

He smiled and repeated, "Like I said, you don't have a choice."

He pulled away and swiped open the door. Before leaving, he took a glance at me and said with a serious tone, "Enjoy LA I won't be bothering you or your friends but be sure not to get involved with any men."

I gave him a scowl and said, "And why do you think I would follow your orders?"

He smirked. "If you don't, I will hunt those men and kill them in front of you."

For some reason I believed him. The way his eyes glinted devilishly, I believed he might do that but when did he become that powerful?

He wanted to grow his business but I had no idea he had done it so well. But wasn't it his father who did it?

"Why would you do that?" I asked clenching my palms.

"Because I am the only one who can touch you. So, better not get yourself swayed by other men, Stella." The possessiveness in his voice could be heard even after he left the room.

My name on his tongue felt so great that it hurt. His words made my legs jelly and the old emotions ran wild yet I felt hurt.

How could he say so when he was the one who cheated on me. He said with so much power and authority in his voice that for a moment, a tiny little moment, my heart skipped a beat. But I was still hurt and broken.

Tears ran down from the corners of my eyes as I closed the door and leaned on it. I cried because I knew I still loved him.

And I was stupid to love him even though he clearly said he was marrying me for the sake of some shitty condition. Not that he wanted.

But his words had another effect on me. I sat on the floor as I kept sniffing and the old wounds once opened up.
