Chapter 4 Witch

After Athena's claims, all of the werewolves laughed like they were super amused at what she just stated.

"You're funny! The cafeteria cooks won't do that! They're scared of our Alpha!" One of the werewolves gloated.

She clenched her fists while shaking her head, "Can we just let the teachers examine this first? If I'm wrong then I'll buy you a cake again," Athena firmly said.

"Athy, you don't have to, just let him get poisoned if you're right," August commented while casually eating her meal, so the werewolves were stunned and growled at her.

"What stinking dogs? Shut up before I use this fork to stab your eyeballs," She hissed, so everyone just piped down.

Armani noticed how troubled Athena was about it, so he just stood up before gesturing his hands towards the way, "Go on, let's get that cake checked,"

She sighed in relief before nodding at them, "L-Let's go, does anyone of you know where the faculty is?" Athena curiously asked, so August raised her hand before finishing up her milk.

"I do, let's go before the lunch break will be over," She suggested, so Athena sincerely thanked her before they left the cafeteria.

It wasn't long until they found the office because of August's help, and all of them decided to go inside to let the teachers examine the cake.

"Oh no, this chocolate cake is bad for werewolves, good eyes, Ms. Athena," Mr. Rudolf mumbled while shaking his head.

He's the physical education teacher a while ago. All of the werewolves were surprised since someone tried to poison their Alpha.

Armani, on the other hand, was surprised when she found out that the cake was poisoned compared to him who has a high sense of smell.

"How did you find out that it was poisoned just by looking at it?" Armani raised his voice while looking at her intently, so she flinched before glancing at him.

"It's easy to detect the magic of witches, do you have someone in mind that may have done this to you?" Athena curiously asked, but he didn't answer her.

He was pissed off that someone had the guts to do this to him, he couldn't think of someone aside from...

Armani stopped thinking when Athena spoke again, "This is bad, you could've been seriously hurt," She sighed in relief.

"She's right, we have to get to the bottom of this since this is against the rules of the academy," The bell rang after Rudolf said those words.

"Everyone go to our respective classes and Armani, don't do anything reckless," He warned him, so he just clenched his fists.

"How can I not do something about this? Someone tried to hurt me," He almost growled, so August rolled her eyes.

"Werewolves really only have balls in their eyes, huh? He just told you to not do anything until they get to the bottom of this," She mumbled before grabbing Athena.

"We're leaving teacher, and be grateful that we ate lunch with you guys today or else..." She didn't finish what she said and left together with Athy.

Armani and his people got out of the faculty office with a solemn aura forming above their heads, "What should we do Alpha?"

"What else boys? We're going to give that witch a piece of my mind," He growled before clenching his fists.

Athena, on the other hand, was just glancing from behind while looking at August, they're on their way back into their classroom, "Are we sure that we should just leave them alone? They could stir up trouble,"

"You don't have to worry about that, they're nothing but strangers to you," August said, but she just bit her lower lip.

It feels like her first day is getting longer than usual, "But still, who would do that? Don't they know how bad chocolates are for werewolves? It could kill them if not treated right,"

August just exhaled out a lungful of air, "It would really kill them, but it's none of our business anymore, you could hurt yourself if you keep on being involved in it," She almost scolded.

She felt bad for a moment when she saw Athena averted her gaze at her, "I'm sorry, I just can't believe that someone would boldly do that,"

"Hurt someone to death just because they don't get along with each other," Athy whispered before sighing.

Both of them stop after hearing a strange noise of a cart, "What was that?" Athena curiously asked, but she gasped when August pulled her into the side to hide.

"Why are we hiding?" Athena curiously whispered, so she raised her finger on her mouth to pipe her down.

"I smell a witch carrying lots of cake, should we go check that out?" August calmly asked while helping her peek on the side.

Her eyes widened after seeing a cloaked witch that was carrying huge carts that probably contained cakes.

"But I thought you said we shouldn't get involved?" Athena whispered, so she just shook her head at her.

"Change of plans, we're right here witnessing the crimes she's probably doing, we have to get as much evidence as we can," August informed.

"She? You know it's a girl?" Athena was surprised, so August just proudly nodded at her before stretching her hands.

"Felines also have a high sense of smell, but we can only distinguish food, danger, and sometimes people if they're skilled like me," She claimed.

"Now then, shall we get that culprit and surrender her to our teacher?" She invited Athena, so she beamed before nodding at her.

"Of course, now let's go!" She inaudibly cheered as they followed the witch that was carrying some carts.

They slowly followed her until they realized that she was sneaking into such a dark room, "Should we really continue following her?" Athena whispered.

"It's almost past lunch too, our classes will start later," She added, but August looked so serious about following that cloaked witch.

"It's alright, we're almost there I think," August whispered, so they continued on following that cloaked witch inside of that room.

After they managed to get inside, both of them crouched down to examine what she was trying to do with the cake from the shadow of the light.

"A-August, she's trying to massacre the cake, is that how she put magic in it?" She almost panicked while whispering.

"A-Alright, we have to be careful on confronting her or it'll be our doom, okay?" August tried to calm her down.

But she knew they were both scared since she looks terrifying from the shadows that they were seeing from the only light in the room because her tails were getting buffy.

"O-Okay, be positive, it's now or never, yah!" Athena suddenly stood up and confronted the witch. August was surprised at her sudden action.

"N-No, wait Athena–" She stopped after noticing that Athena stopped confronting her midway, she slowly glanced to the side and saw that the witch was eating the cake in a horde manner.

The witch's eyes widened while she was swallowing the cake, there was scattered icing on her face and she looked like she was full.

"W-What the? What are you guys doing here?" That was what she said but they couldn't understand her because she was swallowing.

Athena was confused at what she was seeing before deciding to compose herself, "O-Oh um sorry, we mistook you for someone," She mumbled while scratching the back of her head.

The witch continued eating those massive cakes before looking at them both intently and opening the lights, "What's this all about? No one has interrupted my date with cakes before," She rolled her eyes.

August and Athena just glanced at each other before shaking their heads, "Oh um, there's just been an issue here, a witch cast a spell on a werewolf's cake to let him smell that it isn't the usual chocolate that he was eating," She explained.

"Are you saying that was my fault?" The witch almost raised her eyebrows, so they immediately shook their heads.

"N-No! It's just that, we found you suspicious because you were carrying this many cakes into a place like this, who wouldn't find you suspicious?" Athena almost pouted.

The witch just stared at them intently before nodding, "Oh I see, I just really wanted cakes, so I stole this from the cafeteria," She informed them.

"And someone used black magic huh? What did the teachers say?" She asked, so Athena wondered about black magic.

It's dangerous magic that's forbidden for the witches and magic wielders to use, they will be punished if one of the heads found them using that.

"Mr. Rudolf said they will look into it," August replied, so the witch immediately shook her head.

"They should immediately look for the culprit, the tracks of witches using black magic are easy to be distinguished," The witch claimed.

"U-Um before we discuss things, can we at least know your name?" Athena politely asked, so she flinched for a moment.

"Why do you want to know my name? Do you want to be friends with me?" The witch almost rolled her eyes, so she was surprised when Athena nodded.

"Yes, I'm Athena, you can call me Athy, and this is my friend, August, we just met today too!" She winked, "And you are?"

The witch was surprised, no one has ever approached her like that without any hint of fear or disgust in their eyes.

"A-Alodia Zapanta, that's my name," She whispered before averting her gaze at them as they shook their hands.

After they decided to fit into that room, Alodia decided to use her magic to make the room have some more enormous space.

"I'm still surprised at what magic can do," Athena whispered as she sounded amazed, so Alodia just smiled at her.

"You're the Wight that is a scholar, right? You must be pretty smart," She claimed, so she blushed for a moment while shaking her head.

"N-No, I'm not that smart," She pouted, so August just shook her head before chuckling since she was amused.

"Yeah right, but she managed to ace the quiz a while ago in our history, it was just the first day!" August exclaimed, so Athena hid in the corner because of embarrassment.

"So as I said a while ago, someone may have used some black magic, who did that person poison?" Alodia curiously asked while using her magic to clean her face.

"Oh um, he's the Alpha werewolf, Armani," Athena informed, so she thought it wasn't a surprise since a lot of people hated his guts and narcissistic flair.

"I see, he must have pissed off someone, but it's just the first day, so who on earth could that be unless they met before outside?" Alodia wondered.

She knows all of the witches around the university that has enrolled, but none of them are her friends aside from this man that keeps on bugging her.

Athena bit her lower lip for a moment before looking at the wall clock she noticed at the top right of the room, "Crap! We're really late this time!" She exclaimed while trying to brush off some dirt on her skirt.

"August we have to go!" She raised her voice before looking at Alodia, "Hey! We'll meet up with you here after school okay? We'll be waiting!" Athena clasped her hands against each other like she was pleading.

"A-Alright," She replied, so she waited until both of them decided to leave the place she made for them.

Alodia clutched her chest before looking at the picture frame on the side, "Mom, I think I made friends on the first day of school," She almost teared up before looking at the cakes that she stole.

"Guess I'll share these cakes with them later," She mumbled happily before summoning a book on her front.

"Now to get a head start since I've finished all of the assignments that were given to me a while ago, I'll look for people that know how to use black magic," After she said those words, she started skimming numerous books and information about the students around Luxine academy.

Alodia flipped numerous pages a few times and stopped after she read something interesting from the newspapers of their world.

"This might be a lead towards the culprit," She smirked and she couldn't wait to tell those two after they come back.

To be continued...
