Chapter 5 Revenge Of Life

The sound of my alarm awakens me. On the clock, it reads 5 a.m. I get out of bed, put on my work clothes, and go to the office. In order to begin making breakfast, I make my way downstairs and into the kitchen. For the time being however it's coffee time, so I go out into the patio to enjoy it. At this time of night, no one rises. This is the first moment of peace I've had all day, and I'm grateful for it. Then, once I finish my cup of coffee, I walk inside and begin making breakfast for the whole family. No matter how close we are, it's as though I'm an outsider here. My 'room' is really just a closet, and that's all it is. I cook, clean, and am not allowed to leave the home at any time. That was the point at which they informed Madame Helene that she would be taking a few days off work. They didn't dismiss her; rather, they offered her a few days off as a reward for her service. Instead of putting her needs above mine, my stepmother did it to make my life a living hell. I was being treated like a dog by Madame Cora, who would beat me in front of others. Like her kids, I wasn't dressed as well as I could have been. All the money from my dad was delivered to her daughters. I used to dress and work like a maid in my own house.

Once a day I was incredibly hungry and I requested her to give me some food since she left me without it for more than one day. She refused to and told me that I had to fight and that I didn't need food to survive. On that day I chose to leave home. I didn't know how or where I was as a youngster but my gut told me that I should leave it immediately. I informed my best friend Olivier and she wanted to assist me with Madame Helene, but I knew that Madame Helene would not allow me leave the home and I was a child so I refused to let her tell her parents.

It was midnight, I gazed from the window, the moon rose, the light of stars spread in the black sky. How chilly was the weather? There was the scent of flowers that my mom always liked to sniff. Everyone was sleeping in the home. It was serene like the day that my mum died. I recalled the unpleasant experiences that I had. How much I missed my mother and how much I longed for my old days. I proceeded down the stairs. I was walking slowly and wordlessly. I was quite terrified to hear from her.

I opened the huge door of the home and it produced sounds so it woke her up. I heard her chatting from her room. I didn't have an option at that time except to rush home. I wasn't quick, the maids and guards were behind me. They didn't want to injure me but they had a goal to protect me.

Where might a youngster go? I vividly remember when I arrived with one of the maids, and my stepmother with her two girls and my father were waiting for me in the living room. She didn't inquire what occurred or why I would want to go away, even my father didn't ask since he never cared about me. Linda and Laura questioned with a loud voice" why did you ruin our sleeping?" and it wasn't simply Linda and Laura but even my stepmother began yelling since she woke up in the middle of the night.

"How dare you wake us? You little trash!" she screamed at my face. I felt scared from her voice.

"Where did you want to go?" my father said and I could see darkness in his eyes and hear his evilness.

I didn't reply.

Madame Cora or the wicked stepmother came near to me and smacked my face and everyone was gazing at that incident. No one did stop her, and she kidnapped me and made me sleep in the cage with the dogs. It was expected from someone like her but not from my father

Through my years, I've found myself in a number of cages, and I'm not sure what to do with myself when I find myself there. These several cages may have a huge impact on a person's life since they may be stopping them from attaining their objectives or fulfilling their ambitions. In my life, I've come to realise that I'm trapped in a cage with a lot of other people. This is the reality of how much my life passed with the years of darkness. I even call myself the daughter of darkness.

I spent the whole night in that dark cage with the dogs, enduring the pouring rain. I was sobbing and crying because I was starving. I had felt unwell during those long, dark hours. I had a few fainting spells. I couldn't even yell or shout since I couldn't move. When I heard someone strolling beneath the rain voice and his steps were near to the cage, I assumed it was someone else. I peered through a hole in the wall and saw something black approaching the cage closer to the entrance. It was Sonia, our housekeeper. She was a wonderful maid in our castle, and my mother had complete confidence in her.

"I brought for you some food, take it." She kindly said to me,

"I'd like to go back to my room," I say. 'I said it with tears in my eyes.' I was sick and weary of everything at that point. What a cruel and unusual existence I've had. Inside a cage, a little child sleeps with a group of dogs.

"I can't take you now but I will not let you without food. Madame Helen sent me here for you." Sonia told me with sadness in her eyes.
