Chapter 4 I Missed you, So Here I Am

On Monday.

Early that morning, Michelle headed out to her work as an intern at the Binfield Infirmary, the biggest hospital in the city.

Michelle had graduated from Binfield Medical School and was about to finish her one-year internship. If everything went well, she would become an official doctor soon.

Good morning, Michelle! Have you had breakfast? Myles, who was in the same department as Michelle, held up a fast food bag and grinned. "Want some?"

No, thanks. I'm good. As she spoke, Michelle gave him an apologetic smile and walked toward the dressing room. She needed to change into her uniform before meeting Nadia Yates, their director. Just then, Nina appeared seemingly out of nowhere, sticking out her lower lip like an aggrieved child.

Myles, why didn't you offer me breakfast? You only ever ask Michelle, Nina asked in a whiney tone.

Myles just chuckled. "Nina, don't you need to lose weight?"

Oh, shut up, Myles! Nina hated it when her weight was mentioned, because she was indeed a little chubby.

After changing into her white gown, Michelle headed to Nadia's office.

Nadia was a middle-aged woman who was said to be an old maid with an unpredictable temper.

Michelle, you've done a good job here. All the leaders of the departments you worked for are pleased with your performance. As she spoke, Nadia poured Michelle a glass of water.

Thank you, Ms. Yates. Michelle took the glass of water gratefully.

Because of this, the hospital has decided to keep you. The emergency department is really short of people. You can work there first. If a slot opens in another good department, I'll transfer you there. The more time Nadia spent with Michelle, the more satisfied she was with her.

I promise I'll work hard! Michelle vowed seriously.

As soon as Michelle returned to her desk, Nina winked at her and whispered in a gossipy tone, "Guess what? Our department has a new director, the youngest director in the whole hospital. I heard that he's very handsome!"

Michelle smiled helplessly. Nina was always well-informed with the latest gossip. In fact, Michelle had overheard something similar when she took the elevator from the tenth floor just now. She didn't expect that the people on the first floor would know about it so soon. It seemed that Nina was really the queen of gossip.

Hey, Michelle, at least show some interest, Nina grumbled, dissatisfied with Michelle's reaction.

All I'm interested in is my job! Michelle said helplessly.

Are you kidding me? The alimony your ex-husband gave you is enough for you to live two lifetimes! You won't need to work a day in your life! Nina rolled her eyes in exasperation.

Then I'll have to work hard to spend all that money!

Nina's nostrils flared and she roared, "Michelle Greenwood! You are so annoying!

I envy you!"

With a helpless shrug, Michelle picked up her glass from her desk and strode out of the office.

She was going to the pantry to get some water and passed the stairway. Suddenly, she felt a violent shove from behind her. Frightened, she screamed at the top of her lungs, but soon a hand was clamped over her mouth.

Before she could understand what was going on, Michelle fell into someone's arms and was dragged past the fire door at the stairway. With a loud bang, the door slammed to a close, and she was instantly shrouded in darkness.

Michelle struggled to break free from her captor's embrace, but all her efforts were in vain.

The man behind Michelle was strong and tall. He covered Michelle's mouth with one hand and held her up with the other hand wrapped around her waist.

She kept kicking and struggling, scared out of her wits. However, her captor held her close and tightly, leaving no room for her to maneuver.

The man's arm around her waist tightened, and Michelle had no choice but to raise her butt to put as much distance between herself and his crotch.

The two people's bodies were close to each other, and the reaction of their bodies during the process of wriggling and struggling was clear.

Michelle was so scared that she broke into a cold sweat, her heart racing in her chest. Finally, she opened her mouth and bit down on the man's finger-hard.

She heard a grunt from behind her. "You have great teeth," a hoarse voice said.

Michelle's eyes went wide and she felt so relieved that she almost burst into tears of joy.

That damned gigolo!'

Finally, Gerard released his hand from her mouth.

What the-? What the hell are you doing here?

Was it because she didn't give enough money that day? Was he here to demand the rest of his pay?

With a devilish smile, Gerard nibbled her earlobe and murmured, "I missed you, so here I am."

Michelle couldn't help but tremble under his touch. She felt inexplicably addicted to his deep voice.

Recalling the passion of that night, her face turned as red as a tomato.

You... This is a hospital! How could you... How could you...

How could he come here to seduce her?!

If her colleagues found out that she had a one night stand, she'd never hear the end of it!

What's wrong? Are you turning your back on me now that we've shared one night together? As he spoke, Gerard's hands roamed around her body, going so far as to touch her sensitive area. Amidst the darkness, Gerard pictured how red her face was, like a delicate flower.

Michelle was about to go crazy. She swatted his hands away quickly and hissed, "This is not the right place to talk. Let's go somewhere else!"
