Chapter 5 boxer danger

WAKING UP IN THE MORNING wasn't a pleasant experience; with a morning Bella I stayed with and the blaring alarm she set up. But she got my grumpy mood quenched and made me feel better- with a warm plate of pancakes brought to me in bed, which she called; A grand welcome for her roomie.

"As long as you're staying with me, you have to be up early because we've got classes to attend," she lectured me while my sleepy ass was still in bed.

In my defense, "I didn't go to bed early yesterday."

"Yeah, yeah. Now hurry up, we don't want to be late for our first class."

Hurriedness went in contradictory to my actions until we had both left our dorms to get to our class after getting ourselves a cup of coffee at a cafe. As we stepped out of the cafe with our cups of coffee firmly clasped in our palms, the cool morning air danced around us.

It wasn't a doubt that first days were the worse because the University had a large campus to navigate through, the endless corridors making it even more challenging. Walking with Bella whilst eyes trained on the campus's map; all in the name of searching for my lecture hall was a bad idea-but we were in a hurry.

"We have the same lecture now right?" Bella inquired from besides me.

"Yup, English 1000," I muttered to myself, loud enough for her to hear.

"You sound as if you hate English," she cocked a brow.

I never hated English but from what I had gathered so far, it was a two-part course, which meant-two semesters. Gosh.

"I do like English but, I'm more focused on other things, rather than writing bunch of stories."

"You're so dramatic," she giggled but I ended up rolling my eyes at her. After minutes of trying to figure out our way through hundreds of students, we finally found our hall.

The lecture hall had a nice feeling, making me feel lighter, a smile spreading over my face. The air had a fragrance smell and somehow I believed that in all my classes, differences would be celebrated rather than being criticized. Everyone should be unique, that makes life interesting.

The hall was already full, crowded with students of different personalities, and I felt relieved because the universe was nice to me on my first day of class, unlike other times. It was either I bumped into a typical queen bee or bunch of ass-wipes.

Bella and I both sauntered our way to the furthest row in the back of the room, and dropped our stuffs on the table.

"Hey!" I heard Bella whisper yell from besides me. I turned to look at her, eyebrows raised.

"Yeah?"

"Did you hear?" she grinned.

"Hear what?" I asked, eyebrows furrowed and having a permanent crease.

"Are you even on this campus?" she asked, unbelievably earning an eye roll from me. "The boxing champion! Can't remember his name actually, but I heard he's so dreamy."

She acted like those fan girls, gawking over a guy who she hasn't even met.

"Will you stop that?!" I whisper yelled, "You haven't even met him, girl."

"I don't need to meet him, from the descriptions given, I bet he's hot," she grinned, widely. "I also heard his best friend, um. . . Walter is also hot."

My hands went up to my desk, taking a rest on it. "Well, don't judge a book by it's cover, they might have ugly personalities," I told her nonchalantly.

She huffed, "This is college, don't be a fun breaker." She crossed her arms over her chest, "Well, I'm going to keep talking and no one's going to stop me."

As if on cue, my eyes went over to the door, behold the English professor stepped in and my lips twitched into an evil smile, "Good to know that's gonna be happening now."

Her eyes went over to the professor, an audible groan escaping her throat. Whilst she kept her mouth shut, class commenced in all its glory of seriousness and all chatters dispersed immediately, leaving the voice of the female professor who seemed to be in her late 30's echoing.

▬▬▬▬▬▬

THE HALLWAYS HAD DARK MARBLE FLOOR with white walls, not a single stain anywhere except for the lockers, fire extinguishers and school pictures that stood against it. The doors were glossy and gold-like, numbered with black digits.

My shoes squeaked on the floor, the chattering of other students echoed almost consuming the sound of doors and lockers slamming shut. The day had been a mayhem of happenings and I wasn't with Bella after English. I had gotten her number and upon calling, was told that she would meet me in the school's dinning room.

Walking down the hall, I was astonished by the building and when the smell of food engulfed my senses, my feet took me into the dining room. I took a seat a bit closer to the entrance and waited patiently for Bella so we could get our food at the same time.

The room was filled with bustling chatters from the few river flowing friends. Somehow the day felt exhausting for the whole college kids- slumping shoulders and permanent creases on their foreheads; it seemed like we all managed to get through half of the day.

Bella appeared right before me, all in her glory of perspiration and erratic breathing. Whilst she pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, she plumped down on the chair in front of me.

"How did your day go?" I asked, taking notice of her slouched posture.

A frown laced her face. "Terribly!"

"What happened?"

"The lecturers are so strict and to top it up–the never ending assignments!" She groaned comically, throwing her hands in the air whilst moving them back and forth, all before setting them on the table with a thud.

Her facial expressions told me she could rip off her hair at any moment if I even talked about any class so, I changed the topic into a light one, good enough to ease her stress-I asked her to tell me about herself.

She started with her passion and her majoring course before we went to go order food- a regretful decision.

"I didn't know the food in this school was that expensive!" Bella complained.

"It's college what do you expect? Things would be expensive," I shrugged.

"We won't be having food here anymore, there's a cafe close to the campus, we can always have lunch there," she suggested, picking up a fry.

"That's better."

Before I could dig into my food, murmuring filled the room and my curiousness spiked up. Bella tapped my arm lightly, when I looked at her, I was welcomed by her mouth hanging opened, eyes fixed on something behind me. But when I turned to look back, my mouth fell opened as well.

Him again?!

There he was, black leather jacket paired with a white top and jeans. He wasn't alone actually, other guys- very attractive really. No wonder Bella couldn't keep her mouth shut about them.

I turned to look at Bella again, her eyes still fixed on the guys. I snapped my fingers in her face, grabbing her attention. Before I could open my mouth to speak, she rambled,

"Oh my gosh! Aren't they so hot?! I mean just look how good looking they are, they're soft brown hair, muscular arms and-"

"Cut it out!" I snapped. "They are not hot, especially him." I turned around and pointed at the guy.

Her mouth dropped open and then: "Do you have sight problems?"

I let out an audible groan, "No!"

"Then why can't you see all that?" her eyebrows were raised, expecting me to give an answer.

And the best I could give was; "Never judge a book by its cover."

She rolled bee eyes. "You keep saying that."

"Look I-" before I had the chance to get the words out of my mouth, the voice of one of the guys filled the room.

"Look here freshmen!"

Remotely, we all diverted our attention to the guy . The other guys were already seated- on the table. Poor table.

"Line up!" there came the command from the Mr better than all. The most shocking part was they all obeyed, leaving Bella and I, staring at each other in wonders.

"What do you think they want?" she whispered.

"I dunno." I whispered back before diverting my eyes to the rest of them.

"We would like to give you all a warm welcome," he announced, an evil smirk outlined on his face. Retreat! Retreat.

Before I knew what was happening, he had commanded all the guys to step forward and then- do a frog jump.

What the hell?!

While the-punishment- went on, they all laughed, making jest of the whole situation, except for the guy I had met in the park who just busied himself with his phone.

"You two, get up!"

My head whipped to the direction of the voice and I realized the command was directed at Bella and I. While Bella quivered in nervousness, I stood my ground.

"Why should we do that?"

He gritted his teeth, "because I said so."

"And because you made that 'order' we should comply?" I did air quotes around order.

"Who the fuck do you think you are?!"

My temper sparked immediately, my palm slamming down on the table with full force and dragging the attention of everyone including the guy from the park. "Someone you shouldn't mess with!" I boomed.

The shock that swept across the face left me satisfied. I took steps forward, Bella's whispering voice asking what I was doing. I stood in front of the brown eyed boy and looked him dead in the eye. "Don't expect people to always follow your orders because. . . you're not fucking better than everyone else."

I darted my eyes to the rest who were on different punishments. "They are not God so, why let them boss you around? You have your freedom." I let out a sigh, "I want you all to go back to your classes and don't you worry, I'll take care of these guys."

They listened and walked away, dropping a few 'thank yous'.

"How dare you?!"

He's still here?

I feigned innocence, "What?"

One of the guys with blue eyes and a mass of brown hair stepped in front of me. "You need to be taught some manners."

"How about you guys teach me during last period since it's free for me?" I responded sarcastically before attempting to walk away when his hand went around my wrist and hurled me back abruptly.

"Hey!!" I yelled, "You boys better respect yourselves or else-"

"Or else what?"

I gritted my teeth in annoyance, "you'll regret it."

Taking a step forward, he yet again grabbed my wrist but this time, I curled my hand into a fist and aimed for the front of his nose. My fist hit the bridge of his nose in full force. He staggered backwards, holding his bleeding nose.

He stood straight, rage burning in his eyes. "You. . . Little. . ." he took lurching steps towards me with each words. On the last word, "bitch!" he swung his fist in my direction.

The punch felt too slow for me as I ducked under it, sending my fist straight in his ribs, knocking out his breath. He gasped and doubled over. Still got my strength.

"Bitch!" I felt a muscular hand on my shoulder. Knowing exactly where the guy stood behind me, I smashed my left elbow into his stomach.

I turned to look at the guy I had elbowed, "Told you you'll regret it."

When I attempted to walk away, my eyes fell on the guy from the park and my rage sparked.- He's definitely the leader. "You!" I pointed, taking lurching steps towards him. I stood in front of him, eyes burning with rage, "The mastermind behind everything."

He narrowed his eyes at me, "So?"

"You are one crazy and foolish being you know? Do you all think you can just boss everyone around like you're the damn owner of the college."

He shrugged. "Kind of I am."

"What's that?" I pretended not to have heard him well, then; "Oh, I know now, it's just your stupidity."

"You can keep talking you know, just know I won't be paying attention." he responded in a low tone.

"You know, you've got your fucking entire life to be a jerk why not take a day off today?" I retorted, my anger slowly raising to it's peak.

"You know when a guy gives an opinion it's normal but when a girl those. . . she's considered as a bitch!!"

That does it!

His words were sharp enough to cut through any girl's heart but it only made rage flow through me like hot lava. I breathed heavily and clenched my fist, my body temperature rose and I could feel my blood boiling. Without thinking twice, I aimed straight for his jaw. But. . .

He caught hold of my fist before it even got to him. Shock spread across my face as he held my hand in a deadly grip. It seemed we were both in some glare contest as neither of us broke away. Even as much as I despised him so much, I still felt a strange electrifying warmth from where his hand held mine. . . I wondered why.

Faces almost close, I took notice of him- sharp jawline, high cheekbones and piercing glare-. My eyes still remained glued to his electrifying shade of dusk blue eyes despite the proximity.

I finally broke the long silence. "What. . . the-"

"I'm a boxer." That simple statement from him kept ringing in my head.
