Chapter 4 The party

7:30 p.m. Game Night

Tyler rose when he saw Hannah enter the room and walked over to her. Hannah saw Tyler coming towards her and forced the flush to her cheeks down. She quickly tried to lower her gaze when he came up to her.

"Hello Hannah." He smiled at her. She smiled back

"h-hi Tyler." He could tell she was nervous. He tipped her chin up making her look at him.

"Hey are you okay?" he asked.

"I'm fine."

He could hear the edge to her voice but couldn't figure out why.

"You're sure?"

"Yes Tyler. Nothing I can't fix" she tried to force a smile. She was attracted to him. She hoped it didn't show. She didn't want him to know. She quickly forced the thoughts away. Tyler removed his finger from under her chin when he was sure she was fine.

"Come on I want to introduce you to my friends." She nodded and followed him over to where the cool kids were sitting.

"Diane, Paul, I want you all to meet Hannah. Hannah this is Diane and Paul and the rest of the group." Hannah nodded hello to them all. And they muttered quiet hello's to her. Hannah slowly inched away from Tyler. She walked around the room taking in her surroundings.

"Hi. My name's Brittany. You're the new girl right?"

Hannah turned when she felt someone tap her on the shoulder.

"Yeah my name is Hannah."

"Come-on, Come join me and my friends we're playing team billiards (pool) but we're missing a person and you're all by yourself. We'd like you to join us."

"Okay." Hannah turned and followed Brittany over to the pool table.

"Hey this is Ryan and that's Michelle. Guys this is Hannah."

Everyone shook hands and said hello. Michelle was a slim girl with green eyes and sandy brown hair. Ryan was a tall attractive boy with brown hair and blue eyes. And Brittany was a taller girl with hazel eyes and light brown hair with highlights. They were a lot of fun. Hannah would occasionally glance over her shoulder to see Tyler. Hannah turned when she heard Brittany's light giggle.

"What?" Hannah asked. "I've been watching you. I think someone has got a crush" she gave Hannah a teasing smile. Hannah blushed.

"He keeps looking at you too. We might have some chemistry in here" they laughed.

"I won't deny I'm attracted to him. He's really sweet and very cute but I just there's no possible chance that he would ever like me. So I'm trying to convince myself that I'm not attracted to him." Hannah tried to explain.

"Join the club. Everyone in here has at one point been attracted to him...he's gorgeous." Michelle joined in.

Hannah blushed and tried to change the subject. Hannah liked these girls and Ryan was really nice, the evening passed by quickly. Hannah was laughing when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

She turned. "Sorry to break the party up but I need to steal your friend away." Tyler told Hannah's new friends. Michelle and Brittany gave Hannah a teasing smile and nodded their consent.

"You go girl" she heard Brittany tease as she headed away with Tyler. Tyler laughed and turned around.

"It's not what you think."

"Sure!" the girls chorused laughing.

Tyler turned away again and glanced over at Hannah. He could see her blushing. Tyler had to quickly pry his eyes off of her. The added color to her cheeks was stunning. She was a very attractive girl. After saying their goodbyes to their friends Tyler walked out to his mom's car with Hannah. Once they were inside Mrs. Nelson turned around to see Hannah.

"Tyler weren't you going to introduce me to your friend?" "Of course, Mom this is Hannah parker. Hannah this is my mom Mrs. Nelson."

The ladies shook hands.

"Did you have fun tonight Hannah?" Tyler asked.

"I did, thank you Tyler."

"You should do things with us all more often Hannah."

"Yeah it was fun. So is Diane your girlfriend?" the question caught Tyler off guard.

He acted a little startled. It got the smile from her he wanted.

"Yeah she is."

"How long have you two been together?"

"I think it's been 2 months."

"Oh I see. That's cool." Silence hung between them again. Hannah looked out the window; it was beginning to rain.
