Chapter 4 4

Sandra left the house, as she was about to come out of the compound she met Ben on his way coming from the mini market , they both exchange greetings, and Sandra went her way while Ben entered.

" mother ,how is Omotola?, do you need anything for her " says Ben.

"Omotola doesn't need anything for now , but maybe later, for me help me to buy my medications " says his mother.

"Do you still have the prescription, so that i can take it along with me "Ben asked

"Yes ,come and take the prescription," says the mother

the mother rentered and brought it out and handed it over to her son .

"I may not come back on time ,because i wanted to see one engineers " says Ben.

" what for "his mother asks. " for work Ofcourse " says Ben

" i wants to go and find out if there is work, so that i can follow them tomorrow " says Ben.

" son , take things slow, says his mother.

"How do i take it slow, when i have huge amounts of debt, says Ben.

" go on time " says the mother.

He went out without listening to his mother,and the mother enters inside to go and check baby Omotola.

" greetings sir, Ben greets

" Ben how are you , sorry for the loss of your wife, your brother told me last week " says the engineers

" thank you , i just wanted to know if there is any work that can keep me moving " says Ben.

"But you supposed stayed at home for a while "the engineer said .

"Not that i cannot stay at home , but i was in a serious debt " says the engineer.

"debt of how much " engineer aaked.

"The money is too much " says Ben.

"So money is too much that you cannot mention the amount. "said the engineer.

" two hundred and forty six thousand "that is the amount.

"The dept is much truly, but people are in this country that were owning millions , take things easy" says the engineer.

" My boss , i don't want to be disgraced , because all this micro finance bank workers can cause scenes ,if you did not pay their money on time "says Ben.

"No ,problem, am awaiting a big contract sooner , but i have a small work that will start on Monday.

" how are you going to do it ,because of your baby " aske the engineer.

" my mother is at home , she is the one taking care of the baby, what i need to do is to provide money for her upkeep " said Ben.

"as we are going ,we are staying there for two weeks " said the engineer..

" that will even be good ,the money will be in bulk , i will be able to pay my debts " says Ben. " when are we going, friday or Saturday "Ben aaked.

" On sunday afternoon." said the engineer..

"Engineer, please let me be "on my way" said Ben.

" goodnight sir " Ben says.

"goodnight Ben" said engineer.

Before Ben entered, the mother has already closed her door but baby Omotola was crying, Ben knocked his mother'sdoor and asked if baby Omotola is not giving problem,or why is she crying , Ben is curious to know what is going on with his baby.

"Did you buy my medications?"aaked the mother.

" yes mother, that is why I am knocking the door" said Ben

" why did you keep so long to the extent that people have gone to bed , you are a father now , you must not be keeping late in the night," said Ben's mother.

" i was with my boss, we are just discussing about the work we going on sunday " said Ben.

"If you go on Sunday , when will you be coming back" says Ben"s mother

" After two weeks " says Ben

" don't forget the debts, always put it at the back of your mind till you will finish the payment" said the mother .

"Thank you mother i already put it in my mind " says Ben.

" please don't dissapoint me and don't put me into shame" says the mother.

" what about the youth leader, does he have any work to offered you " asked the mother.

"Mother let me go and sleep because I wants to go to work tomorrow" said Ben .

" goodnight , don't forget to buy Omotola's drugs

" goodnight mother, have a good night rest "said Ben.

" Ben rose up on Sunday, started preparing against afternoon, because he dosen't want to be left behind, as he prepares himself finish, he put head on the way .

"Mother i will aoon be on my way to the engineer's house because I don't want to be left behind because of unnecessary excuses "says Ben.

"Won't you come check on your baby ?" Aaked the mother.

" how wouldn't i check on my only hope in life?"says Ben .

"I thought you will not come and touch her and carry her before you embark on the journey."say the mother.

"am still coming to you to borrow some "money from you "says Ben.

" i will borrow you the money , but immediately you come back you will pay me my money"says the mother.

" No problem i will pay you back this one that i wanted to borrow now" says Ben.

" how much do you wants to borrow " ask the mother.

"Just five thousand " says Ben .

" you called five thousand just, well just or not just , you will pay me back my money, take the money" the mother said .

" Ben carries his baby ,played with her a little bit before leaving the house.

" as i am seeing this baby so am seeing my wife in her , she is too beautiful "Ben is talking to her mother .

" don't worry, this baby will grow bigger to makes happy"says Ben's brother.

"Amen " Ben answered.

" he gently drops the baby on the bed . " mother i will soon be going " says Ben.

" my blessings will go with you son " says Ben's mother " Thank you mother " says Ben

" mother, i will be on my way now i don't want to be left behind " says Ben.

" bye ,don't be too long there , remember your baby will be waiting for you at home" says Ben's mother.
