Chapter five

~Maria~

I was having mood swings in school.

I was actually kinda sad because I was going to tell my friends the news today.

"I'll tell them during break time" I thought to myself.

"Maria! Maria!! Maria!!!" the teacher shouted my name.

"You're not paying attention, what is on your mind?" the teacher stared at me.

"Nothing,,I'm sorry ma'am" I apologized

I stopped thinking and listened to the teacher.

I didn't want her to call me out again for not listening.

The bell rang and it was break time.

"Hurry up guys, I have something to tell you" I looked at Kylie and Becky.

"Hmmm, are you pregnant"? Kylie teased

"Yeah are you; you can tell us we'll understand" Becky added.

"Lol you guys are not serious" I smiled. I was already getting emotional but I hid it so my friends won't notice.

"Okay I'm done, let's go eat" Becky said as she packed her books to her locker.

We left for the dinning hall for our food.

When we got there we went to our spot as usual.

"So what's the news Ria?" Kylie asked

"My dad just got promoted to the US, so we'll be moving there" I broke the news.

"Wow you'll be leaving this country are you for real!?" Becky shouted.

"Lower your voice, I don't want people to know about it" I cut in.

"Awww I'm so happy for you; congratulations Ria, your dreams will finally come true" Kylie said.

"But I'll really miss you guys a lot".

" Of course you will" Kylie said

""Don't worry we will always be in contact with you, Becky said.

"So when will you be moving"? Becky asked.

"In two weeks time" I answered.

"Wow it's sooner than I thought" Becky said

"I know right," I said.

We were still talking about it when Kylie burst into tears. She was really an emotional person, she looks very tough but she isn't.

"So after two weeks we will never see each other again" she sobbed.

That statement made me emotional but I controlled myself.

"I think so, but when I'm done with the university I'll try to visit" I tried to console them.

And we went on and on about the news until it was break over.

After the break was over we all left for our class immediately.

I fell asleep during class and when I heard the bell for break time I got up.

I went to the dining hall for my food.

"Coly over here!" my friends shouted as they waved their hands.

I had two best friends, one was Mace and the other Tom.

We've been friends since primary school so we literally knew almost everything about ourselves.

Since creche we have attended the same school.

I got to where they were seated with my food in my hands. I sat opposite them with a table at the center.

"I have something to tell you guys" I said as I put a spoonful of rice in my mouth.

I chewed and swallowed the rice before I spoke.

"I'll be moving to the US soon" I told them.

They looked at me and burst into laughter.

I was not surprised because I was always joking, I was never serious, so I didn't expect them to believe me at once.

They were still laughing as they stared at me.

" I feel you bro, everyone wants to leave this country" Mace said as he was still smiling.

"I'm not actually joking, I'm serious," I said with a straight face.

"Wow I can't believe this so you'll be leaving us soon" Tom said.

" I'm not dying bro I'm just moving out" I teased.

"I know but we won't get to see you again" Tom said with a sad face.

"When are you moving"? he asked.

"In two weeks time" I answered.

" It's really so soon," Jace said.

" Don't worry I'll be in touch with you guys, I'll try not to lose contact" I spoke.

We went on and on about the news until the bell rang.

It was break over and we went to our class.

~Maria~

We started the preparations.

It was already Friday and we were supposed to travel on Saturday.

I didn't go to school today.

We were all home throughout because we had a lot of things to do.

It was evening already and we checked everything: our passports, visas and all; they were all complete.

"Hope we are not missing anything?" my mom asked my dad.

"Yes I think so, nothing is missing as far as I'm concerned" my dad answered.

"Okay then let's all rest" my mom said.

My dad turned on the TV as he sat on the chair.

"Honey, come watch family crisis" my dad called out to my mom.

Family crisis was a family comedy drama and my parents really loved it.

"I'm coming" my mom replied as she came down to the sitting room.

Coly also heard and he was also a fan of the drama so he came down from the room.

"Ria aren't you gonna watch"? coly said as he passed my room.

" Nah, you guys can watch without me" I answered.

"Whatever" he said as he left to the sitting room.

He sat with my parents and they watched the drama.

I left my room to the balcony outside; I wasn't in the mood to watch TV.

I sat on the chair in the balcony and I was just staring at the sky; admiring the stars.

"The Stars up are so beautiful" I admired them and began to count them.

There was a small mattress in the balcony so I layed down and closed my eyes.

I heard some noise outside.

I opened my eyes and I looked outside the house. I saw a man on black . He wore a black mask so I couldn't see his face. He looked suspicious but I didn't mind.

He drove past the house with a motorbike.

The evening breeze was so soothing I loved it. "This is what I need now" I said to myself.

Booommm!!! There was an explosion from the inside.
