Chapter 5 Beauty without brains

I got out and it was already dark

I walked out properly, my eyes searching for Mr Jaxon.

There weren't much people outside so it was a bit quiet

After searching for him without seeing him I was about giving up when I sighted him at the car park about to enter a toyota Prado.

I quickly ran to him and stood in his front, blocking his way

"Excuse you?" He asked and I twitched my lips.

"I want to ask you a question"

"A minute"

"What!"

"Fifty seconds"

"Alright, fine. Why do you behave like you don't know me?"

" Do I know you?"

"Of course you do. I'm your student"

"Miss Greyson, the only business I have with you is at school and it ends there, get it?" he asked and I felt his words hurting, but tried not to let it show.

"I don't like it when you call me that"

"I didn't ask for your opinion"

"I want us to talk"

"Your time is up"

"Please"

"Take care of yourself miss Grayson" he said as he shoved me out of the way

He got into his car and drove off

"You don't like him" Ryan said behind me

"I do" I said turning to face him

"You don't. It's lust"

"It's not lust"

"If it's not lust then how can you explain falling Inlove with a guy you just met without even knowing him?"

"It's called love at first sight, duh!"

"Cami, this is pure obsession"

"You can't talk me out of this so there's no need trying to"

"Whatever, let's go home" he said and we started towards the car.

Getting into the car, Ryan ignited the engine and hits the road

It was more like a silent drive as I kept reminiscing on what happened back then at the bar and the words Mr jaxon said was still playing in my head

*..... THE ONLY BUSINESS I HAVE WITH YOU IS AT SCHOOL AND IT ENDS THERE....*

It was really a hurtful thing to say

Throughout the ride home Ryan tried starting up a conversation to cheer me up but I just nodded to everything he said, not wanting to talk much

I knew he is gonna feel sad about it, but I am gonna sort it out later.

When we got home, we both walked to our various houses saying just goodnight to each other.

All our servant had gone to bed except the gateman and the butler, they were the last person's to go to bed

We had four servants; the butler, the cook, the driver and the gateman and they are all male.

"Welcome ma" the butler greeted as I climbed up the stairs to my room in quick steps.

I waved at him not stopping and as I got into my room I quickly took off my clothes and had a quick shower

I slipped my not so transparent nightie on and once I was done I settled on my bed.

I needed to get Mr jaxon off my mind and the only way was by watching a movie

I picked up the TV remote control from the stool close to my bed and turning on the TV with it I selected a movie

It was actually a buddy movie, one that I assume to be very interesting

I watched the movie with some much attention and it was indeed interesting and funny as I kept laughing out my sorrows and forgot about what happened some minutes ago.

As the movie was about ending I started hearing footsteps, at first I thought it was from the TV then I realized that it was someone approaching my room as the steps became louder.

I quickly turned off the TV with the TV remote and tossing the remote on the stool I grabbed the textbook that laid there and opened it pretending to be reading it as I knew that the person coming was either my dad or one of my brothers.

The door of my room opened, but I didn't bother to look at who it was as I just focused my eyes on the book, though I wasn't reading it.

"Cam!" Lincoln called and I raised up my head to look at him after a little reluctance.

I hope that he doesn't notice because they are always likely to find out

"Yes?"

"What are you doing?"

"I'm reading. Isn't it obvious?"

"Yeah. It's obvious that you now read your books upside down" he said and I looked at the textbook that I was holding only to find out that it has been upside down the whole time

I itched the back of my nape as I stared at my fingers not wanting to look at him again.

When I raised up my head to look at him he just shook his head sideways and walked out making my lips twitch.

Next day.

After I and ryan were done with our first class which was English we walked to our locker which was next to each other, stuffing our English textbooks in it

"What are you having now?" Ryan asked and I picked up my timetable to see what I had next and seeing the next subject I frowned.

"Gross! Physics"

"What? I thought you liked the lecturer"

"Well I don't like the subject"

"Good for you babe. Bye" he said shutting the door of his locker.

"You don't have physics now?"

"No. French"

"Can I join you?"

"Why? We both know that you don't offer French"

"I know but I don't want to stay in the physics class alone, except you would be kind enough to join me"

"Cami you know I would love to skip the French class and join you in the physics class but it's my first day at french class and I wouldn't want to miss it so as not to have a bad report.

"Okay. No problem"

"Cami....."

"I said it's okay. It's fine. You can go to your French class whatever I don't care'" I said and stormed off, heading to the physics class.

I'm not angry with ryan, hell no

I'm angry at the fact that I am gonna be staying in that physics class alone knowing fully well how mr jaxon gives me his naughty attitude, but even at that I saw him differently.

I saw him as someone who is being disturbed by something

I wish I could ask him what the problem was but he wouldn't even let me be a friend.

He looked like someone carrying a heavy burden and I'm determined to know what it is.

''Cami!!'' ryan called from behind but I didn't bother to turn around and look at him.

Once I was at the front of the physics class, I didn't waste much time in opening the door

Getting in I met mr jaxon inside, already teaching.

''You're late" he said without sparing me a glance.

"Am sorry. I was....''

''Is that the morning greeting?''

''You just asked me.....''

''Go to your seat" He said making my mouth fall wide open

Like.... Is he for real??

Who the hell is this guy?

He is always getting on my nerves and I still don't why I'm still attracted to him

Going over the original seat I had sat on in the previous class I sat on it and was grateful that no one had sat on Ryan's seat.

I paid less or no attention to the teaching as I found it not useful

As I was tired of listening to what mr Jaxon was explaining to the students I brought out my headset and turning it on I connected it to my phone and fixed it on my ears.

I fixed my eyes on the desk as I drummed silently in the desk nodding to the beat of the song playing.

Suddenly I saw a male hand on my desk and as I raised up my head to look at the person, I saw mr jaxon standing in front of me, his eyes on me.

What again?

His mouth started moving like he was talking but he wasn't producing any sound making me a bit confused

He was talking but I couldn't hear anything making me wonder if I had gone deaf or he had gone dumb

His hand moved away from the desk and went to my head making me surprise, wondering what he was up to

What is he doing?

He removed the headset on my head and that was when it occurred to me that I had plugged my ears all along

"What exactly is your problem?" He asked looking annoyed.

"I don't get"

"What part of what exactly is your problem don't you get?" He asked but I couldn't give a reply as I noticed the whole class attention on us

"If you aren't ready to pay attention to me then you get the hell out of my class" he said and dumped the headset on the desk before going back to the front of the class.

I was dumbfounded

I couldn't say a word as I was dying in embarrassment

The humiliation was getting too much for me to bear and I was almost losing it

"I need someone to come solve the equation on the board" he said and I just turned away from the board, already pissed.

"Camila" he called taking me aback

Not again!

"Come solve it" he added making me frown.

"Why me? I mean there are so many hands up and I didn't even....."

"Now!" He said in a commanding tone making me frustrated

"So much temerity"I muttered under gritted teeth as I stood up and walked to the front of the class

I sighted Penelope whose eyes were pinned on me, giving me an evil smile

I ignored the stares I was getting from them all and made my way towards mr Jaxon.

Getting to him, I took the white board marker from him, I faced the board but I didn't know what exactly to do

The equation on the board was so confusing that I didn't know how to solve it and worst of all I didn't pay any attention to his explanation

I am doomed!

After staring at the board blankly for a long time with no idea on how to solve it I gave up, saving myself from solving rubbish and from the whole embarrassment I was gonna get

"I don't know it" I forced the words out of my mouth.

"I thought as much. Beauty without brains" he said as he collected the marker from me and the whole class burst into laughter.

What!!

I stared at him with grief anger

There are two meanings in what he just said to me.

One, he thinks I'm pretty

Two, he reffered to me as brainless

I was angry to a point that I so wanted to curse at him but remembering that he's still my lecturer and can temper with my grades I held back my reactions

"Take it as your assignment" he said to the class as he packed up his books and left the class.

I could feel the mockery gaze of some students on me.

They were yet to know who I really am

Keeping it cool, I walked over to my desk and took my seat, not minding that other students were already moving out.

"How could he? He's so mean!" I spat out angrily as I and Ryan sat at our favorite spot in the cafeteria

"If what you just narrated to me is true then I think that Mr Jaxon went too far by using such words on you, but you really don't have to beat yourself about it" ryan said.

"Why shouldn't I beat myself about it, huh? Public humiliation is the thing I hate most and you know it"

"I know, but you should have at least paid some attention to him"

"Oh! It's now my fault right?"

"That's not what I'm trying to say.... Okay.... Can I see the question?" He asked and I brought out my physics notebook from my backpack and threw it at him

"Come on cami. This is a very simple equation" he said staring at the question "All you needed to do was multiply equation one with equation two and add your value to equation three, that's all" he said and I rolled my eyes at him

"Everybody are not met to know it, okay?"

"Just let it go"

"No. Am not gonna let this one slide cause if I do he's gonna keep doing it. Infact I'm going to confront him right away" I said standing up from my chair

"Cami, no. That's not necessary" he warned.

"Of course it is"

"Cami you're gonna mess this up again"

"If I have to do anything to stop him from embarrassing me then I've to do it now" I said and left, heading for Mr Jaxon's office
