Chapter 2 A new acquaintance.

07:45 am at the Silver Moon Pack.

"Alpha, our borders have just been breached. We're under attack!!" The mindlink boomed.

"Damn it..!" The Alpha jolted from his working desk and hurriedly exited his office. "Honey, lead the pack elders, the children and everybody else to the saferoom now!" He sent to his mate as he ran towards the packhouse front double doors.

"You're not fighting this battle alone!" She stubbornly responded.

"Milly, please don't start. Not now!" He growled as he ran past the open doors and sprang outside while his eyes took in the chaotic situation.

The intruders were targeting the packhouse, that explains how fast they got there. Wolves were fighting left and right while blood splattered all over the place. "Report status!" He sent to his Gamma. He had to know their current position and tactics before joining in.

"Grave, Alpha. Our strongest warriors are currently stationed around the packhouse for defence." The Gamma responded.

He frowned before closing his eyes and took in a deep whiff. He abruptly tensed as his eyes flew wide open with a slight shock; he had just figured out the intruders' pack scent. "That fucker!" He cursed as his eyes scanned the area, looking for the chief troublemaker.

He didn't spot the wolf he was looking for, so the only solution left was to charge and help out. He leapt forward, shifting mid-air before landing on all fours fully covered by long grey fur. He charged towards the intruding wolves and made use of his canines and strength.

Unbeknownst to the Alpha, his enemy stood at the edge of the surrounding woods taking in all his movements, noting his weak spots and figuring out his signature moves. He was a patient predator, so burning time wasn't a problem, as long as he was sure to win.

"Circle the Alpha." He mind linked his warriors after he had observed enough.

The huge grey wolf was biting down a tad smaller wolf's neck when suddenly something plunged onto him, knocking the air out of his lungs and sent him flying, then crashing onto the nearest tree. He didn't waste time; he bit down his pain and stood right up again, shaking his head for composure before his eyes spotted the wolf behind the powerful attack.

A huge all-black wolf stood majestically, glaring back at him. Both wolves were surrounded by the intruding wolves, which by werewolf law meant a duel-two Alphas in a challenge circle. They loudly growled at each other before the grey wolf finally charged.

It was on!.

Months blurred by since Daeya started living her brand new life. Her new busy schedule kept her from spending her usual quality time with her friend, but the two never stopped catching up whenever they got a chance. Mariah just got engaged, and she couldn't be more happier for her friend.

It was almost noon when Daeya walked into a supermarket; she took a cart and started grocery shopping. She had a lunch date with Mariah later, and she had nothing back home. She hadn't cooked in weeks because she was just too busy lately. Thanks to her now much flexible schedule, she'd hopefully start cooking in again.

She stopped by the fridges, where her eyes spotted sausages. Her hand slowly slid the glass doors and was about to grab a pack when she felt a slight tug on her jeans, knee level. She quickly looked down and was surprised to see a small cute blonde boy not older than 4.

His big light brown orbs looked up at her, and she quickly noticed that he was crying. She slowly squatted down to his level and brushed her hands over his wet cheeks to wipe away his tears. "Hey, are you alright, sweetie? Where is mommy?"

The little boy sniffled before shaking his head.

"You're lost, aren't you?" She cooed.

He nodded whilst she looked around. Few people walked around, and some passed by quietly shopping, just like how she was. She looked back at him, "Come!" She softly muttered before carrying the little boy and stood upright again.

Abandoning her cart, she slowly started towards the checkout counters, "What's your name, sweetie?"

"Ric", He responded while his head was still buried on her neck.

"Such a cute name for a cute boy." She complimented, " Now Ric, you don't have to worry. We are going to find mommy together, alright?"

The boy only nodded.

Her eyes scanned the counters and the exit doors where a couple of security men were stationed as she tried to find anyone asking around. She spotted a petite pregnant woman who looked very worried, frantically talking to one of the security guards as her eyes scanned around as If trying to spot someone she couldn't find.

"Is that her?" She stirred the boy, who hurriedly looked up, and his gaze followed Daeya's pointing finger towards the woman.

Ric squealed, "Mum! Mum!"

Daeya smiled brightly as she pushed her feet a tad faster towards the woman who now already spotted them both. The woman's face broke into a relieved smile as she rushed towards them as well. When they finally stood before each other, Daeya set Ric down, and he leapt into his mother's bear embrace.

"Thank God, I was quite worried!" The woman mumbled. "How many times should I warn you not to wander off when we're in public places, young man! You gave me quite a scare!"

Daeya smiled at the two.

The woman finally looked up at her, "Thank you so much, Miss!"

Daeya nodded, "It's okay. He is the one who found me." She smiled at the shy little boy. "By the way, I'm Daeya." She offered her hand.

The woman happily took it, "I'm Asia."

She beamed. "Pleasure to meet you, Asia, such a beautiful boy you have there!"

Asia peered down at her son with a smile. "Indeed, he is." She then looked up again, "I left my cart somewhere in there."

"Me too." Daeya nodded. "Shall we?"

Asia smilingly nodded before they both wandered back into the maze.

A full moon glittered on the night sky as the bats' screeches dominated the area surrounding a neat cottage. At the nearest tree, on one of its branches, stood a hooting owl as its eyes pierced into one of the cottage's windows.

Inside, at the centre of the room, stood a chubby woman with flawless brown skin. Before her was a high table with different herbs, almost full vials of strange kinds of liquid and a large bowl. Six candles altogether burnt around a framed picture, and beside it lay a small ugly voodoo doll.

The woman held a pair of scissors and cut out a portion of cloth from a black tank top, then discarded the now ruined tank top on the floor before her other hand retrieved the voodoo doll on the table. She then proceeded to wrap the piece of cloth on the doll before she took a needle and started to sew.

All the time, the woman lowly chanted and occasionally stopped to spit onto the doll. When she was satisfied, she laid the doll flat on the table and pulled a lower drawer, taking out a small box full of needles. Her hand dove inside and retrieved a needle as her lips curled into a sinister smile.

"I curse you, Daeya, to never find happiness nor peace in any man who'd ever enter your pathetic life." She bitterly muttered as she punctured the first needle into the doll.

She repeated the phrase and chanted incoherent words as she continued to puncture the doll with countless needles until there wasn't any space left. On the floor beside the table, a medium khaki box was placed. She squatted to retrieve it and placed it on the table before opening it and inserted the doll inside. She then proceeded with the framed picture and stocked a couple of herbs inside as well. With a satisfied sigh, she closed the box and taped it before storing it into a cupboard at the furthest wall of the room.

The owl outside kept on hooting as she paced back to her table whilst she jingled her keys; she slightly bent and blew out the burning candles and stood straight up again.

"You'll regret the day you decided to marry my nephew for your selfish needs." She mumbled as she walked out of the darkroom whilst her dark eyes shone with pure malice.
