"Hmph!" Athena snorted. "Beg the elders for a divorce and enjoy myself of being single." She added and finally wore a smile.
Sam just smile and nodded. "I'll be here to support you, Thena..." He assured tenderly. He then dropped his friend at the MS hotel lobby and waved goodbye at her before driving back to his place. He insisted to send her to her chosen room but the woman insisted to leave her alone and chase him away. He had no choice but to leave her alone in the lobby.
Meanwhile...
Terrence drove back to his apartment and took a quick shower. He then dried up himself and wore his bathrobe and headed straight to his mini bar, took out a bottle of wine, and poured his glass half of it. He then went into his living room and settle down on his couch. He couldn't help thinking about Athena and Sam. Their smiles towards each other make him feel uncomfortable. He felt some needles prickly stab his inner muscles.
Ring!
Ring!
Ring!
Terrence was snapped back to his senses when his mobile phone rang loudly from his room. He stood up and went to his room with large strides. He then peered on his screen and his brows furrowed together. "Dad," he greeted flatly as he aligned his phone on his ears.
"Where are you brat? Why aren't you bringing your wife back to our home yet, huh? Do you want me to ban you from entering the company starting tomorrow?" That was Terrence's father - Mr. Adams, shouting on the other end of the line. He sounds so furious while speaking to him and he was threatening him!
"Dad, I just got home. She hitched a ride to Sam and I think she had already-..." Terrence massages his temples feeling a sudden headache approaching him.
"You think what? Have you gone mad, huh? Your father-in-law called me just now and told me that she hasn't been able to come home yet! What were you doing? Have you been whoring around, huh? You're married for Christ's sake!" His father began to nag at him endlessly causing his brows to frown even more tightly.
"Dad, don't talk nonsense... I'll go find her!" Terrence huffed and assured his father.
"It's getting late! Bring her to your apartment! Let her stay in your place for a couple of days before she got her final decision on where to live." His father commanded dominantly.
"Dad, I don't think she would like it to stay here in my place. How about the hotel?" Terrence bargained.
"Are you nuts? Aren't you aware that someone is targeting your wife? Are you willing to suffer the consequences if she got kidnapped or worst turned dead? Your grandparents will take you with them!" Mr. Adams threatened spitefully.
"Fine. I'll go get her!" Terrence grumbled dejectedly in defeat. How could he not know that someone was targeting his wife? There are lots of them actually. Wanted to pursue her to get inside her pants while the others were trying to get her head in exchange for lots of money! She's an heiress after all and only limited persons know about it! His family and their close friends. Hanna is an exception!
"You should stop doing nonsense, Terrence! Tame your wife and have children with her! We are waiting for that event to happen! Don't let us down, son! We're getting old now. We need grandchildren to play within the garden." Mr. Adams mumbled sounding aggrieved.
"Bye, Dad," Terrence then drop the call and stormed into his room. He changed his clothes and stormed out of his apartment after taking his phone and car keys. He then drove fast and dialed Athena's number. He waited for a long time until it was taken.
On the other side...
Athena had just finished her bubble bath and wrapped herself with her bathrobe while drying her hair. She hopped into her bed and took out her mobile phone from her sling bag. She then dialed Mike's number but it wasn't going through. She tried again a few times but still no to avail. Annoyed, she threw her phone on the bedside table and searched for a bottle of wine to relax herself. "What are you doing, Mike? Why aren't you opening your phone?" She pouted while speaking to herself in displeasure.
She went on her little refrigerator and took out a few cans of beer. She gulped the first can and grabbed a pack of potato chips on the pantry. She then settled on her sofa facing the balcony while drinking her beer.
Ring!!!
Ring!!!
Ring!!!
Athena smirked thinking that Mike finally called her. She stood up from her seat and sauntered towards her phone. "Babe..." She greeted without paying attention to her caller. "I've been calling you for how many times but I can't reach you... You pissed me off and I drank a lot!" She huffed drunkenly and continued to gulp her remaining beer in the can.
"Where are you?" A man's deep and husky voice inquired on the other end of the line.
"I'm staying in MS hotel, Babe... I'll be home tomorrow morning..." Athena failed to notice the difference in the man's voice and continued to spit her drunken words.
"Wait for me... I'll come and get you." The voice seemed to soften as he spoke to her.
"Hahaa..." Athena chuckled softly. "You never failed to cheer me up... Thanks but stop bluffing me. I know you can't just fly from I city to here in just a few minutes..." She mumbled and gulped her beer again.
"What is your room number?" The man asked.
"The cheapest room of course! I can't afford the expensive room, right? I had to save money for my savings in the future... You know very well that I am poor, right?" Athena laughed while stating her lies.
"What did you just say? Why can't you afford the expensive hotel suite?" Terrence for some odd reason felt something strange. His heart tightened hearing Athena's drunken remarks. 'What the hell is wrong with her? Was she telling me about this matter to earn my sympathy back? She must be dreaming if she thought that she could trick me again!' He thought.
"Mike, I'm taking a rest now... I... I... Need to go..." Athena started to choke on her words and seemed to be sniffing as she dropped the call on the other end.
"Athena!" Terrence called out in a hurry but his call was abruptly cut off by the woman. 'Was she crying?' He thought feeling something odd. He hastens his speed and race towards the hotel. He parked the car and went to the receptionist's desk to ask for Athena's name and the number of her room.
"Miss, which room does Athena Adams check-in?" He asked hurriedly.
"Excuse me sir? No Athena Adams is checking in our hotel sir..." The receptionist mumbled apologetically.
"Ah, how about Athena Stanford?" Terrence mumbled confidently.
"There is none also sir... But an Athena Wayne is checking in a regular room 123..." The receptionist muttered professionally with a professional smile on her face.
"Okay!" Terrence swallowed hard. His muscles tightened. 'Damn it! She's using her mother's surname, huh? She's really telling him the truth! What the hell is wrong with her?' He cursed inwardly and stormed into the floor where Athena's room was located. He was so furious for some odd reason.
Athena is an heiress. A billionaire's daughter but she hide it from anyone and remained low-key. He couldn't understand her point of view and it made him confused about her personality. He felt pity for her and his hatred was shaken.
Terrence then spotted Athena's room number and knocked on her door furiously. He waited until a lazy voice came to his ears. His heart began to hammer inside his chest. A mix of pain and hatred spiraled in his heart when he imagined how narrow her space inside must be. What's with the savings? She is f*cking loaded! He really couldn't understand why she had to suffer like this! Had she gone mad or been hit by something?
"Wait a moment..." She shouted accompanied by her steps.
The door swung open and a newly bathed woman wrapped in a bathrobe came to his view. Her nose looks red and her eyes were swollen from crying.
"Athena Stanford Adams!"
"What are you doing here?"
