Chapter 4 Farewell Erile

Emily woke up from her sleep. She sat up on bed and realized she must have gotten drunk that night.

"Not again. Why does this always happen to me."

She looked at the bed she was laying on and realized that Dwayne must have brought her to his house. Blushing Emily covered her face wondering what bad things he could have done to her in her sleep.

Eventually she realized that was impossible because of the commands she had placed on him. Emily got off the bed and walked around the house. She got to the living room noticing the broken window. It kinda made her feel bad but she blamed Dwayne for launching her through the window.

Her eyes eventually landed on the plate of food on the table in front of her. It was the table she had sliced in half when they got into a fight. A lot of nails were driven through it in order to hold it in place. It was a plate of porridge that had cooled long ago.

Emily stared at the porridge knowing fully well she could not take a cold plate of porridge in the winter. She used some fire wood in the house to light a fire. Using the fire she warmed the soup to her satisfaction eating each spoon with delight.

After filling her belly, Emily finally realized that Dwayne was nowhere to be found. Picking up her sword, she went out in search for him. It was not possible for him to leave her since he was aware of the fact that she was with the stone.

Emily went around the village asking for directions until she finally found him in a grave yard. There she saw him kneeing near three graves performing some rites. After awhile, Dwayne stood up and walked towards Emily. She quickly noticed that he was wearing some armor on his body. The armor looked old as if it had not been used for years, it wouldn't be able to take much damage for sure. At his back she noticed the huge beserker sword he had used against her in their fight along with a sword that was slimmer and smaller. It looked like a katana but it couldn't be called one.

Emily knew this could only mean one thing, he had accepted to help her with her quest.

"So you agreed to my request, I am happy you did", Emily said with a smile.

"I didn't do it for you", Dwayne said in an attempt to set her straight.

"I know you didn't, you never seemed like the type to do that kind of stuff anyway."

Emily stared at the graves for a second before looking at Dwayne. On noticing this he simply walked past her heading to the road leading to the next town. She knew this was his way of saying it was none of her business. She turned around following him from behind.

"Why do you always wear that mask, does it not make you feel weird", Emily asked but Dwayne kept on walking without even focusing on her.

"Sure don't answer, I was not curious or anything. But you have to take it off eventually, everyone in the whole of Eden knows the way the mask of the 'Transcender' looks which would probably draw a lot of unwanted attention."

Dwayne on hearing this looked at her for what felt like a minute before replying

"Transcender? Is that really what they call me now?"

"If you don't count Draco Slayer, Masked reaper and Beserk knight then yeah, they call you that", Emily said with a grin on her face.

"Hmm, not bad at all. I kinda like it."

Emily knew this was not true as his voice showed nothing but distaste for them.

"It's best you don't try to treat me like a friend. You brought me back to a life I didn't want to be a part of. I only have hate for you", Dwayne said in a calm voice but Emily could still feel his hatred for her.

Emily knew for a fact that the moment she broke into his house and decided to place commands on him, his life would not remain the same. They had no idea what they were going into anyways therefore he had the right to hate her.

The rest of the trip to the main road was quiet until they were about to depart from Erile.

"You said you knew magic, what other magic spells do you know?", Dwayne asked.

"Apart from the connection spell, I have a freeze spell, nullification spell and beserk spell", Emily answered with a cocky smile.

"Is that all you have?", The disappointment was clear in his voice.

"Hey, don't judge me. Spells like those take some time to learn."

Dwayne looked at the road forward. It seemed to lead into a forest. Liscon town was kinda a distance away from Erile. They would have to cross the forest into another town named Baridor before moving their way into Liscon. It was not the first time Dwayne had taken a journey through the forest but something did not just feel right this time.

Dwayne moved to a tree on the path carrying a pouch from under the tree.

"What is that?", Emily asked since she was clearly confused.

"It is some stuff we will need for the journey along with your magic that is."

After tying the pouch to his side, they started heading towards the forest leaving the village of Erile behind.
