Chapter 5 Chaos

"I know I'm going to fall, it's just a matter of when."

Ky POV

I opened the door to my house, looking around to see if anyone was home.

Unfortunately, a soft voice rang in the air once I walked in.

"KY is that you?"

She appeared in the living room, coming from the kitchen. I closed the door behind and me and placed the keys on the table.

"Who else would it be?" I said while looking at her.

"Well, how are you doing sweet-"

I cut her off quickly, I really didn't need the fake greetings.

"Cut the act, why are you here Mom?"

She took the dishtowel that she was wiping her hands with and placed it on her hips. Her face was scrunched in a scowl, signaling that she was upset with my attitude.

"Well for one it is my house, and for two I wanted to see how you were doing?" She said walking closer to me.

I gave a little sarcastic chuckle before I fully responded.

"Oh, please you never check up on me. The only reason why you and Dad ever come home is when you're forced to, or when it affects you guys working."

She stood there with a concerned look, and sadness within her hazel eyes. She took a step forward once again reaching her hand out towards me.

Before she could even touch me, I grabbed her hand and let it go lightly to her side.

"KY, you know that's not true I really wanted to check on-"

"I'm fine and don't worry I haven't broken your precious rule. Therapy is still intact, and I haven't picked up a bottle since then. So, go back to work because you're not needed here." I said with a harsh tone.

I didn't wait for her to say or do anything else before I walked up the stairs and ignored the calling of my name from her mouth.

I slammed my bedroom door, and quickly took off my jacket, and threw it on the bed.

I took a cigarette out of my pocket and lit it up inhaling the thick smoke. I opened the window doors that were placed on the left that led to my balcony. I looked out onto the open space. Including my backyard and the houses that looked the same with only a few differences in between them.

The contrasting colors of peach and white are painted on the different homes. The many window frames that were bolted around the outside signaled the overnumbered rooms located in the house. The perfect gardens that were planted along the ground

Which reminded me again of the reason why I hate it.

The reason I hate them.

Looking at my posh neighborhood, and the rich uptight people that lived here reminded me daily of what my parents really cared for and worked for.

They traveled all over, bending backward for their work and their jobs. They were successful in their careers.

However, when it came to their kids. All three of us were nonexistent. We would be considered lucky if we got a call during the holidays. Or even a checkup during the year.

At first, it would bother all of us. Especially my sister and me. We would argue day in and day out with our parents about their work.

On the other hand, with my brother he let it go quickly. He wasn't bothered, or even a little irritated. Or if he was he barely showed it. He actually became 'understanding' of why they had to work so much and all those good things.

He quoted to us many times.

Which drew a big wedge between the three of us growing up. Eve and I gravitated towards one another. While Andrew gravitated towards my parents and adapted the same mindset that they did, more of my dad than anything. Andrew attended college in another state that I didn't care to know, but I did know that he was enrolled in business, and management classes just like my dad did when he was younger.

He was the one person that I couldn't stand the most. He was cold, judgmental, and was always unhappy with who I was, and the decisions that I made. Especially the ones that I have made over just a little year ago.

I will never consider him a Father or claim that he was family. None of them only the one that I adored the most, which was my sister.

I was distracted by my thoughts when I heard a beep in the distance. I took the cigarette out of my mouth and held it between my fingers, knowing that it was my cell.

I went into my room looking around the floor, pulling the covers from the bed just to find my phone.

Once it dropped onto the floor, I picked it up and looked at the screen.

It was Rachael.

Rachel was one of my flings that I had. It was just sex and nothing more or less.

What I like about her is that she didn't expect anything from me she was just a stress reliever, or when I was bored.

Something to use and throw away when I was done.

"Hey, are you coming to the view tonight?"

I was going to ignore the text, but she sent another text that caught my attention.

"I promise you won't regret coming! ;)"

I texted back a simple K, and dropped my phone back onto the bed. I walked outside towards the balcony again finishing my cigarette.

A few hours later it was nightfall, and it was about time to head up to the view.

Once I put my jacket on and ruffled my hair in the mirror a little bit I headed downstairs.

"Honey where are you going?" My mom asked from the bottom of the steps.

"Out," I said walking past her.

"Well, I was hoping we can eat dinner together. It should be out the oven in a minute." She said pointing to the kitchen.

She looked at me with a hopeful smile.

"I don't want dinner, and I don't want you to come in here and act like you miss me or you're concerned about me. What I want is for you to go back to work and stay there." I said with a straight face.

I grabbed my keys and walked out of the door. I unlocked my car and started it up heading to the place.

20 minutes I arrived at the rocks. It was pretty crowded. Cars were lined up and parked on the gravel; in front of the traces and shadows of the big boulders that reflected from the moonlight that cascaded through the night.

The view was a big space for stargazing. Most people come with friends, or to hook up.

It was basically like the movie drive-in back in the day. Well minus the movie screen, snacks, and girls that had miniskirts, side ponytails, and bright pink skates strapped onto their feet.

I parked my car into an open space, and within minutes people were already waiting for me to come out.

I was a known person around town. With my reckless racing, and winning streaks. Every girl wanted to be with me, and every guy wanted to be me.

I wouldn't give any of them the time of day as all of them were shallow and annoying people. They praise me for just driving. If any of them really knew the type of person I was. I guarantee that they wouldn't be bothered with me let alone try to start up a conversation.

Like I said literally driving, it was nothing to boast about I just did it for the money, and more of a distraction.

Once I stepped out of the car I ignored everyone completely. I spotted the girl and walked towards her, and before I could take a complete stop she grabbed me by my jacket and gave me a hard kiss on the mouth.

"So, baby how are we going to do this tonight?" She said with a flirty smile.

Rachael had fiery red hair, pierced and tatted body, and she was very skinny and lanky. She was pretty out there looking, but I didn't care how she looked.

I only cared about one thing.

"Fast and quick."

~

Rachael was currently hanging on to my arm like a rag doll. She kept on rubbing my back and arms in front of her friends.

I didn't even know what I was doing here. However, I really didn't want to go anywhere else, and going back home wasn't an option.

"KY!" I heard my name being screamed from beside me.

I looked to my left and there were my boys Ricky and Darren. I immediately took Rachael's arm out of my own and quickly walked towards them.

"Yo, bro I didn't know you came up here anymore. Why didn't you hit me up?" Darren said.

"I usually don't man, but I couldn't pass up the free booty call." I said nodding my head towards Rachael.

"Hold on, you're with that?" Ricky asked beside him in a distorted face.

"No, way she's just someone to occupy my time. " I said with a shrug.

"Well occupy your time with us, we're here with the girls," Darren said pointing to Stella and Anna.

I nodded my head and walked with them towards their car which was next to mine.

"Hello, ladies," I said with a cheeky smile.

"Greetings" Anna popped her head through the window and then continued to talk to someone in the back.

"Hello, how are you?" Stella said with her nose in the air, and a fake plastered smile.

Stella and I never really got along. Ever since high school, we would all hang out as a group. However, Stella and I would always bump heads. You would think it would be Anna, but no it was little miss prissy that pushed my buttons.

She would always call me the following words: reckless, bad, no-good human, man whore, and rude. "

While she was a judgmental entitled, stuck-up princess.

We were never scared to remind one another of that many times. On the other hand, I did have respect for the girl to tell me what she didn't like about me.

I'll give her that.

"You don't have to fake it, princess. If you don't want to say Hi, then don't say Hi."

She snapped her head towards me with squinted eyes, but she recovered quickly with a smile once again.

"Well, I'm trying to stay positive and be nice. So, my hello still remains." She said hopping of the car.

"Anyways, what's up? Where have you been?" Ricky said tapping my shoulder a little bit.

"He just got out of therapy Ricky," Darren said with a bored tone.

"I know that, but I mean we never really see you around since you got out of therapy..."

"I'm on this strict rule with my parents. They say I couldn't drink, race or go "engage in any illegal activities" if I want to stay under their roof." I said ruffling my hair a bit in frustration.

Darren and Ricky looked at each other and both started bursting out laughing.

"You S-sstop dri-inki-"Ricky heaved trying to catch his breath.

While Darren picked up right after him

"And any illegal activities-" They both could barely finish the words, without sounding like a dead walrus.

"Haha very funny. " I said while picking out a cigarette from my back pocket.

After the laugh subsided they finally looked at me and started to talk.

"Well good luck."

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure you-" Ricky couldn't even finish the sentence without bursting out laughing again.

"I forgot how annoying he is," I said while lighting my cigarette up and looking towards Darren.

Darren chuckled a little at my comment before he spoke up too.

"Bro, sometimes I do as well, and I'm with him like every day."

"C'mon sage don't be a party popper, just hang with us for a sec." I heard Anna's voice.

I turned a little to see Anna practically dragging Sage towards us. While Stella was a few steps behind.

They finally stopped in front of us. Stella immediately went to Ricky to see if he was okay because at this point he was wheezing on the ground.

"Oh, wow the princess saves the prince, what a plot twist?" Darren nudged me laughing a little under his breath.

I looked back around towards the two girls. Anna was looking at Stella and Ricky. While sage had her head towards the ground.

"Beauty?" I said blowing out smoke towards her face to get her attention.

She slowly looked up at me with her brown eyes. Her hair was flowing in her face from the little gush of wind. She gave me a light smile but still didn't say anything.

"What happened with Ricky?" Anna asked us.

"Nothing he's just overdramatic." Darren said with a simple shrug.

Ricky finally got up, wiping his pants off, and catching his breath. Stella was still helping him out making sure he was okay.

"No, I'm not dramatic hear this one. KY's parents said he can't indulge in any illegal activities, if so he's going to be out of the house. " He said with a deep laugh.

I gave a little chuckle myself because it was pretty much a joke for my parents to expect that from me.

Anna opened her mouth in shock.

While Stella had to say something, like always.

"Well, I wouldn't blame them considering what happened last time."

Once the sentence came out of her mouth, the whole group became silent.

"Stella-" Ricky started but I interrupted him waving my cigarette in my hand.

"Stella next time you open your big mouth, make sure you know what you're talking about," I said with a serious tone.

She had deep regret in her eyes, and she was going to immediately say sorry. I held my hand up signaling for her to stop talking before she could even mutter the words.

Anna quickly talked covering up the tension.

"So, do you think you're going to succeed?" She asked with a challenging look.

Not even looking at her, I looked at Sage answering the question.

"No, I know I'm going to fall, it's just a matter of when."

I dropped my cigarette on the ground smashing the stick and walked off.

A few hours later all of us were about to leave. Darren, Ricky, and I were speaking about the races. When I saw a figure out the corner of my eye.

I looked and there was Sage standing a few feet from us. However, she couldn't move, well more like she was struggling to move her feet.

I looked at her a little confused. She looked down ignoring my gaze and turned around.

Okay...

I continued with my conversation, but a few seconds later I saw her little body approach us.

"Sorry for interrupting." She said towards them.

"No, you're fine," Ricky said looking at her.

"Yeah, what's up?" Darren chimed in

She looked towards me and hesitantly spoke up.

"Thank you." She said in a little whisper.

I looked at her with a questioning face.

"Um for the ride the other day, thank you." She said while biting her lip in nervousness.

"It's not like I saved your life I just gave you a ride home it's not that big of a deal," I said irritated.

It really wasn't a big deal, and it was annoying that she was even saying thank you.

Ricky gave an awkward cough because of the long pause. So, I decided to break it.

"Well is there anything else?" I asked moving my hand impatiently.

She quickly shook her head and left without a second glance.

I turned back to the guys, and Darren spoke up first.

"You took sage home the other day?" Darren asked.

"Yeah, why?" I stuffed my hands in my pocket and tilted my head a little.

"Well, she barely talks to us but takes a ride from you. How do you do it?" Ricky asked with a curious glance.

"Don't tell me you're bang-"

"I didn't do anything. She's a little odd anyway. " I said looking past them towards the girls.

They both nodded a little but soon distracted themselves with Anna and Stella.

I was also distracted by the sight of her. It seemed like they were all getting in the car one by one.

But before she entered the vehicle she delayed a little and looked at the rocks and the view one last time before her. It was interesting the way she looked at the scene like it was the most mesmerizing thing in the world.

She gazed at the stars with wander in her eyes.
