Alexander grinned sheepishly and scoffed. "How about you then?" he asked instead turning the tables in a blink of an eye perfectly. "You're already a mother but you were running after me..." he retorted with a playful click of his tongue as he punched the button towards the parking area.
Florr was at a loss for words. She could only give out a sigh in defeat and leaned on the metallic wall as both awaited to reach on the ground floor. Indeed, she also runs carelessly like an immature child earlier without paying any heed to her employees.
It was a shame that she acted like an immature woman but based on her current status, huh! No one would dare to talk behind her back!
Alexander would always keep on trying to mess up with her every time she looked gloomy or rather in a bad mood. She couldn't help it!
Every time she gazed at her window while being alone, her mind would wander back to her past dreadful life. She had tried to move forward and forget those painful memories but the annoying faces of those people kept on taunting her endlessly.
Richard, Lydia, Laira, and Maxwell's, their furious faces kept on haunting her every minute she took her leisure time alone.
Perhaps she really needs the so-called closure process to get rid of the awful feelings that kept on swirling inside her for heaven knows how long was been tormenting her. She would let them all pay for the sufferings that she didn't even deserve to encounter!
The Brooks family...
On which had abandoned her like she was some sort of a mere pet during that year. She could still remember the ferocious look on their faces and the stung of their beatings that time! She had been enduring their unfair treatment towards her since she had grown up and got accustomed to it but leaving her in the arms of a stranger without even having an ounce of hesitation was like they had sold her to a devil!
For what?
'Those fools...' her mind chimes in. 'They thought that we would be succeeding in their schemes to frame you 8 years ago and put Laira in pedestals but... Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Too much confidence to win over that man's sympathy based on Laira's sexual intercourse with him was the reason that she failed to hook up her name beside his... Too bad...' her mind stated ironically.
Ding!
The metallic door slide open and two sprinted their way towards the parking lot. The surroundings went constantly dark due to the heavy rain earlier and Florr walked fast towards her car with Alex trailing behind her as he surveyed the corners vigilantly.
"Hurry up, Alex..." Florr urged and immediately hastened her light steps. She was cautious not to be caught by some media personnel who was always been keeping tabs on her.
They were lurking in the dark like some unsettled ghosts that refused to join the call of heavenly light due to its unfinished unreasonable business! Those ignorant interviewers were trying to catch her many times as they were thrilled about her mysterious identity as the CEO of Valdez Defenders. She never appeared on any news regarding how her firm stood up ranking excellently for two years. It had gathered a lot of achievements but of course, the credits were also given to her trustees who she had trained on how to solve most of the cases.
"Go on first! Hop in the car fast!" Alex urged incessantly. "I spotted something shining in the corner..." he added as he took large strides towards the end of their parking lot.
Florr shook her head in disbelief if not for her child's safety, she would have been appearing on public nonchalantly but this time, she needs to plan it carefully.
She took out her car keys and pressed the unlock button. She entered the driver's seat and started the engine in swift motion. She took out her mobile phone and dialed her firm's security staff number. The line ranged and was answered in a huff.
"President..." A deep baritone voice greeted her politely.
"We got an urgent situation on the north side of the building, Jim. I don't want to be late." Florr informed professionally.
"I want you to take them down by any means!" she coldly commanded on her receiver while gritting her teeth.
Taking them down means catching them at all costs! How dare those individuals took her as a joke? Her privacy would be ruined by them if she just allows them to leisurely take pictures of her and sold them to the media. How about her daughter's safety? If she would be the one to suffer, then the hell would she care! She can fight heads on and put them behind bars but her precious daughter's life would be ruined by those foolish netizens!
"Got it president!" Her chief security assured her confidently.
"And I want Alexander in a minute..." she added dominantly.
"Got it!" the man replied and finally dropped the call.
Florr smirked and drove her car slowly. She halted on the side porch and observed the dark alley while drumming her fingers on her steering wheel. She cast a sidelong glance at her wristwatch as she counted the seconds now and then.
"59, 58, 57, 56..." she began her countdown. "4, 3, 2, 1..." she mumbled and give out a silly grin when she spotted her cousin running towards her car.
Alex opened the door side, settled himself on the passenger seat, and slammed the door furiously.
"Woah!" he growled in annoyance. "Those idiots! They already had taken a good view of your face! Luckily, I saw their watch glittered in the dark, or else you would have been going trending on social media overnight without knowing!" he added seemingly infuriated.
"Where are they?" Florr asked with her eyes flickered with intense coldness. "Did you beat them up?" she added raising her perfectly shaped eyebrows in amusement.
"In Jim's hands. And definitely yes! Black and blue!" Alex retorted with an evil smirk. "Let's go..." he urged and fixed his seatbelts casually.
"Hmmm..." Florr nodded and immediately stepped on her accelerator to speed up her motion. She raced her way heading towards her private airfield. She suppressed her amused chuckles when she cast a glance at her cousin.
Alex had his hand clutched in his seat belt like it was his lifesaver.
Fifteen minutes later...
"Boss..." Alex called out aggrievedly. "You're not taking me with you?" he asked seemingly sad and sullen. He looked rather tearful as he glared at his notorious cousin.
"No - oh!" Florr shakes her head and wiggled her finger repeatedly. "You'll be in charge of the office matters while I'm gone..." she added as she pushed her side door open while taking her files and another belonging out from the car.
"Incharge?" Alex's eyes shone brightly under the car's dim light. He looked rather overjoyed at that remarks! "You mean to say act as the president?" he asked with full excitement lacing on his voice.
His sullen handsome face contorted into a happy and cheerful one seemingly fantasizing about himself sitting on Florr's dignified swivel chair.
How imaginative he was!
"You want to get fired that fast, huh?" Florr asked glaring sharply at her assuming cousin. "If you can establish another Valdez Defenders for me next month, then go ahead. You can burn my firm into ashes..." she threatened maliciously.
"Damn it!" Alex cursed under his breath in regret in provoking his cousin. "I will report everything to you every day then..." he retorted in defeat.
He was just bluffing but of course, his cousin was taking it down to heart! How could he establish such a huge and famous law firm in a month? Even if he worked his ass out he still couldn't!
The Valdez Defenders was already famous above some firms but it flourished thrice the fold under her cousin's management for two years. His cousins skills in law management aren't comparable to any of their elders thus they all agreed to get Florr on the position as the heiress of their firm as they all wanted to retire from solving different cases for so many years!
In other people's eyes, they might conclude that Florr was taking advantage of them during her arrival but that was just an assumption. They had been looking for Florr for such a long time as she was the apple of the eyes to the Valdez elders. They doted her too much since she was born as their clan could rarely produce a female descendant.
"Good!" Florr smirked triumphantly. "I'll go ahead now... Call me after a couple of hours..." she informed promptly and waved her hands leaving her astounded cousin behind.
Alex could only shake his head at his cousin's arrangement. "Whatever..." he shrugged. "You guys take care on your flight!" he shouted dotingly poking his head on the car's windows on which he had received an enthusiastic wave of the woman's hand far awayns
