FVCK UP LOVE
CHAPTER SEVEN
Cliff Piers Sandoval's POV
We immediately went back to my unit to prepare everything. We didn't expect that we would need to buy some wine and beer, because that was what Rodney promised to Emery. I don't have any alcoholic drinks stored with me, which is why they need to buy some. Besides, I rarely drink. I only drink when there is a special occasion.
Rodney and Ezee went to the nearest supermarket to buy everything that we needed. Symon stayed with me. He helped with preparation and cooking of some additional dishes. While we were busy cooking, we talked about what we would do the moment Emery came. Of course, we will be serving the food and also, we will serenade her. I just hope she will like it.
After several hours, Rodney and Ezee came. A few minutes passed by, Emery also came. We welcomed her with a smile, and we even prepared some confetti for her, but she just threw us a death glare in return. It gave us some chills. Did she come here to give us a threat?
"Why Emery? Is there something wrong?" Symon asked.
"You guys are famous, right? I have seen your faces on the advertisement, I thought you were all gay. " I almost choked because of what she said. Seriously?
"First of all, we are not gays. Second, let us formally introduce ourselves to you." Ezee calmly said.
"My name is Ezee, this one is Rodney and this one is Symon. Again, we are not gay. Would you be angry if I told you right now to search for our band? You will know how popular we are, "he added.
Emery rolled her eyes.
"Should I now be thankful because in front of me are famous individuals?" then she smirked.
Rodney was about to open his mouth, but I immediately covered it.
It is better to be alert than sorry. He might say something that could make Emery angry.
"Yes, you should." Ezee jokingly said.
"Well, come on, let us all eat. We prepared delicious food for all of us guys. Actually, it was just Cliff who knew the cooking. I just helped in assisting him. " Symon is trying to light up the mood.
Emery occupied one of the seats as her eyes were focused on the food on the table. She looks like a puppy.
"How was it?" I asked them as they started eating.
They all gave me a blank stare. Isn't it appetizing?
Ezee broke the silence.
"It'sssssssssss delicious! As usual, "he said, followed by the cheering of Rodney and Symon.
Emery just looked at us as if we were the weirdest thing on Earth.
We chose to remain silent again. At least we have a hint that Emery is not happy with the reaction.
After we ate, we went to the living area to begin with our next plan. We will serenade Emery. Of course, what we said to her was that we would begin to drink.
There's a lot of canned beer in front of us. We might end up drinking until dawn.
We formed a half circle; facing Emery, who was sitting comfortably on the couch. She looked so bored, but there was no way of turning back.
Symon tapped his finger, an indication that our performance was about to start. He started singing the first line of our song. This song that we chose to perform is very special because all of us contributed specific lines to it. This was also written when we had our first trip, an out-of-town together as a band.
We are all staring at Emery. She looked shocked in a way. Maybe she didn't expect us to sing for her.
When the chorus came, I really sang my heart out.
"I love you... I love you... I love you.
I love every single thing about you.
I love the way your smile lights up the darkest world.
I love the way you carelessly laugh without thinking about what people might say.
I love the way you draw me closer to your heart.
I am falling even deeper.
I love you... I love you... I love you."
I wrote those lines before I met Emery. I was not engaged in any romantic relationship during that time. Maybe I was able to write those lines because my heart knew all along that Emery would come along the way.
We ended the song and to our surprise, Emery clapped for us.
Is she now impressed with our band?
"Not bad, you guys can sing well," she casually said. It seems like she is one of the judges at a prestigious singing contest. Well, at least she clapped for us, right?
"Cliff wants to offer that song for you." Symon said. My eyes widened. Is it necessary for him to say it?
Emery crossed her arms then raised her eyebrow.
"You really like me, huh?" She is referring to me. I avoided her gaze. I can't meet her eyes.
"Yes, he likes you a lot. All the efforts that he is making are all for you, "said Rodney.
"Cliff is one of a kind. So you must give him a chance."
My friends are really supporting me, ouch.
"But I don't like him." she said, being rude in a way, but I know she is just speaking her heart out.
A silence enveloped us.
I reached for a can of beer. Even though I am not used to drinking, I consumed a can of beer in one sitting.
I reached for another one. And again, consumed it immediately.
They were all staring at me, but I just said I was okay.
I was about to finish, but ironically, they were just about to start. Two cans... and I quit.
My head is spinning. When did I become a wheel?
My eyes were closing. I don't want to sleep but my body told me to.
Emery Austin's POV
"But I don't like him." Is being honest nowadays a sin?
The first moment I saw Cliff, anger was what I felt. Maybe we met at the wrong time and wrong place, but that was what I felt.
My anger only diminished a little when Cliff started to cook delicious meals for me. But just what I've said, diminished, but just a little. Still, there is anger in my heart.
Cliff has already fallen asleep. Poor guy. His alcohol tolerance is so low, pathetic. I can't invite this kind of guy to go bar hopping.
His friends and I continued to talk about random topics. They often talk about how they are proud and thankful to have Cliff in their lives. I just listened to them. It seems like this Cliff guy is a blessing to his friend. A perfect friend, but probably not a perfect buddy for me.
