Going to his office was never in my plan but I had to go in order to talk to him. I had several surgery to do in the morning so, after lunch I took a day leave saying that I was not feeling well. Erhan should not know that I talked to that man. I could not understand what he was thinking. Did he really thought that I would agree just because he promised. That's a very f*cked up idea to even entertain. It's not 18th but 21st century. I will obviously not cry and beg to my brother to stop all this.
I could never forgive that family. Yeah, he didn't do anything but his grandpa did. We couldn't even keep his grandmother out of it as well. I was not someone who just forgive someone because she wanted to move on. I moved on with all the bitterness and sadness. That made me strong like a steel and my brothers opinion could not break it.
Only think about yourself and it's a worthy cause to lose few brain cells. I was standing in front of the building. I didn't took off my coat from the hospital because of few reasons. I was sure that without appointment, I could never meet him. A rich man like him may have countless women chasing him and I have no intention to be labeled one of them. My doctor coat would force them to take me seriously.
The receptionist was looking at me confusingly. "I don't think, we called for a doctor."
"You didn't but I need to meet with Mr. Yilmaz urgently and that's why I don't have any appointment as well. You just inform him that Dr, Aslan came to meet him." I said but she looked at me weirdly.
"Is this some kind of new tricks to reach Mr. Yilmaz?"
"His Grandmother was my patient but him without informing me got her discharged from the hospital. I needed to talk to him about few important things but he just left. I can't just go around for the patients with power doing whatever the heck they want." The receptionist weren't convinced but shw called anyway.
She told me to wait for a while as his assistant was informing him about me. I just hoped he knew about me or else I would be charged for forceful trespassing.
After a few minutes, the receptionist told me to go to the fourth floor. That means he had given the permission but what if he didn't know anything about our marriage. Well, then I had to do the honor.
The assistant raised her brows when she saw the hospital name engraved on my coat. She let him know that I was there and told me to enter.
She closed the door behind me once I was inside of the cabin. He was looking at me curiously. "You came to talk about my grandmother? I thought you would be here to discuss our marriage."
He did not look like that he was making fun but I didn't miss the amusement swirling around his eyes. "You were right. I came for that only. I wanted to tell you in the hospital itself but you got her discharged so, here I am." I shrugged like it was not a big matter.
"You are really smart, I have to say. That coat of yours saved you from a long processing. So, tell me what do you want to talk?" He looked like he really wanted to know. But I thought it would be a mutual feeling for not wanting to get married.
"Since you know about the marriage then you must know about the reason. I have no intention to come into your family. I don't want to marry you." His face was emotionless so it was hard to understand what he was thinking.
"I also don't want to get married. It's just my grandmother who thinks about my future. You know about her condition, very delicate. I did not say anything to her but I know that if I do, she will blackmail me emotionally. Still, you came to this far just to rejecting me so, I will try what can I do. Don't worry about it." He looked like a decent guy so I believed him.
" Well, you look like a decent man unlike you grandfather. I think, I can trust you in this. No offense but it's a little hard to believe when I know how he was. All the best for your future. I hope you may find the right girl for you." with that, I walked away from his cabin and his building. Not knowing what blunder I have done.
Later, I returned to my house very late. I met few of my friends, whom I didn't see for months. Ayfer was literally bouncing on her toes. That meant that she was too excited to realize what she was doing.
"Hayat!! You are getting married!" she shouted excitedly.
"Wait, what? Hang on, relax and tell me again." I said as I was not sure if I heard it right. I thought that Yilmaz would take care of it.
"Azize Yilmaz called. She said that Murat liked you a lot and he wanted to get married as soon as possible. So, we decided the next month would be perfect for your wedding." Ayfer said excitedly but only thing stuck on my mind that Murat liked me and want to get married.
That loser!! Lied to me. Instead of breaking the marriage, he was trying to make it happen. I felt anger rushing through my vein. Ayfer gave me his number as grandma requested for her to do.
I came to my room and immediately dialed his number. That monster!!! I felt like beating the heck out of him.
He picked it up in second ring. "What did you do?" I was practically shouting.
"Oh! That's not how you treat your fiance."
"Fiance, my ass! I trusted you but you proved to be your grandfather's shadow. Why did you do this?"
"Oh you see, my grandmother is in a very delicate condition. So I really can't say no to her. Girls are crazy to get married to me but you are refusing. It won't be that bad." He surely had no idea what he was talking about. She always hated liars and he topped the list.
" It would be very bad. Get married to them you idiot. I don't want to do anything with you and your family." I was literally shouting. Erhan and Ayfer came to my room after hearing all the shouting.
I cut the call without giving him any chance. Erhan was looking at me as if I disappointed him. I actually felt bad seeing him pushing me in that family." I already started your marriage preparation, Hayat. It will be good if you cooperate."
"Well, guess what? I don't care anymore what will be good and what not. I will just tell you one thing. In future, don't tell me that I didn't warn you. Now get out of my room." I was already hatching a plan. All I needed was a little bit of time.
Nandini Arora's POV
I was back at home after a long work day. Mom wanted to tell me something as soon as I entered in our apartment but I just ignored her and went to take a shower. My day was already ruined by that Mehrotra. I was too stiff for the rest of the day. Thankfully he would understand that whatever my parents told them was not true.
I was sure that my parents might have told them everything that surely wasn't me. Like how the parents lie about their child and their personality when it comes to marriage proposals. They want to portray us almost perfect in front of others and that's how the entire arrange marriage circle works.
But I didn't had much hope from him because he was too high and mighty for his own good. I feel pity for his mother. She might be dreaming about a tamed, sweet girl but I was completely opposite.
My parents ordered our dinner from outside. We do it in any happy occasion or something to celebrate. I kind of knew what they were celebrating but I was hoping against everything to be proved wrong. My parents looked really happy so there goes all my hope.
"Why did you ordered food from outside that too so many dishes. You know we can't afford such expenses." I said but my parents became more happy if that's even possible.
"Oh sweetie, we can afford anything now. Our company is going to merge with Mehrotra's soon. Manik wants to get married as soon as possible. You will be married next month. I can't wait, my baby girl."
"Mom, I think, I was clear about not wanting to marry anyone and that man came to meet me in my work place. He was so arrogant and narcissistic, I can not spent my life with someone like him." I didn't know in what other language they would understand.
"Nandini, he is a successful young man. Obviously he would be arrogant and prideful. Once he has a taste of family life, he will be fine. Don't worry about that but our future is depending on you. We are lookin up to you so don't disappoint us." Dad said and I let out a frustrated sigh.
"I don't understand why do you both keep dreaming about our old life. Honestly, I love this one better. I don't have to fake anything. I have real friends now unlike the ones when I was rich. We came closer like never before. I got the taste of a real family. So, I don't see why I have to marry that prick just to get that fake life back. You are telling me not to disappoint you but you both are disappointing me!" I was close to tears. I was feeling like they were selling me to a rich man to act like his perfect wife.
"Darling, everything comes to an end. That's why we accepted that we no longer is as rich as we were before. So, we accepted this life. At first, we faced problems then we got used to it. It's already several years and this life is starting to tire us. We both belonge from a rich family so do you. Maybe you are young that's why you are enjoying this life even after not being a true designer. But we are not getting young. We need to think about us as well as about you. You won't find a good boy in this situation of ours. I know it feels like we are selling you but that's how these high society works. You have to do some sacrifices to able to live. I did something for my family as well and now it's your turn." My mom not only jabbed about my job but also remind me that she also did something like that.
She was married to my father because of some deal in between their families but no one could say anything because the of the love they managed to build in between them. I knew that I would never have something like that and specially not with that Mehrotra. I was too upset to eat so I just somehow finished it and went to my room.
I was about to search for trendy fashion styles when my phone dinged. It was a text from an unknown number. "I hope you will start practicing to be my perfect wife. I let you off the hook because we met for the first time. Next time watch your tone and words."
I didn't need any confirmation to know who this was. I immediately saved his number as 'Narcissistic Prick' with the sh!t emoji.
"In your dream. That's how I behave with people who can not respect others and think as their slaves. Moreover, I am not going to change for ANYONE." I replied. I really wanted to add few curse words but I was better than that.
My phone pinged again and I was already itching to block him. "It will be exciting to tame you. At first, I didn't want to get married and now I can't wait for the day. Good night, dream about me."
He was talking like I was some animal that needed to be tamed. I closed my eyes in frustration.
"Oh God! Get me out of this."
