Chapter 3 TWO

I immediately paid the driver when we arrived and quickly got out of the taxi. I fixed my clothes before walking into the company.

I am a clerk in the marketing department, I've been with this company for three years. The SMITH CONSTRUCTION COMPANY (SCC). The biggest and famous construction firm not only here in the country, but also in U.S. And in Middle East.

Shawn was two years old when I went to work again.

"Good morning maam Shareeka." The guards greeted me immediately at the entrance when I entered. "Good morning too." I also greeted them, there were three guards at the door. The rest of them are scattered all over the building.

"Good Morning Miss A. You look so beautiful today." Our receptionist Miss Kate who is also my friend also greeted and smiled at me.

"Hahaha, just for today Miss Kate? Not every day? Anyways, Good Morning too Miss K." I laughed as I telling her.

And I immediately headed to the opposite side of the elevator, along with the other employees waiting for it to open.

Some of my co-employees greeted me too, and I also greeted them. And the others just snabbed and raised there eyebrows. Will I really don't know why they hate me that much. But I just don't pay attention for it, So I just let them, as long as they don't do anything bad at me and get me down. Because they're going to borrow the dog's face if they do.

Soon the elevator opened, and I was about to take a step inside but someone who bumped into me. So I lost my balance and almost fell down, fortunately my movement was so fast. And I did not fall on the floor, the good thing was the impact was not that strong.

I looked at who was responsible, I even saw one of my colleagues grinning and smirking. And she whispered at her companions and they laughed. Actually, they are the group of those who annoyed at me they are four. For the reason? I really don't know why.

I also couldn't get inside because it was already closed, the good thing also is that another one opened and I also entered. There are three elevators here, two and for employees. And the other one is exclusive for the Boss only or VIP.

I also pressed the number 45, the floor which our department was. Every department is on a different floor, and the top one which is the 50th floor is the CEO's office. Ever since, I have never went that floor. Our boss is so strict, you can't just go there by your own. Or can enter the boss's office, Unless he calls you.

Our boss is still young, only twenty-eight. I was two years older than him, and I heard that he had an older brother who was based in the U.S. And he is more strict than our boss.

The elevator rang and opened and I quickly rushed out. I immediately entered to our office, I also have a few co-workers who are already here.

"Good Morning Sha." Thats coming from Marie, she is one of my colleagues and one of my closest friend in our department greeted me.

"Good morning too Marie." I also greeted Marie as I went to my cubicle and put my bag on my desk.

"Hey Sha Mike is inviting us to his birthday party tomorrow night, are you coming with us?" She followed me. Mike is also our companion who is just ahead of Me and Marie. Marie and I entered the company at the same time, actually there's another one its Kris we are three then.

"I'm pass this time Marie, Shaina is busy for work so no one can be with my son at home. And I can't leave him alone in the house." I just explained to her.

"Why don't you just bring your son to party Sha. So you don't have to worry about him, my Party will be at my house only." Marie and I turned to the one who speak, its Mike and he just came in. Mike is tall and handsome guy.

"He's right Sha, so we can get to know your son personally." Kris said she's just behind Mike.

"Thats right Sha, bring Shawn with you." The person next to me Marie added. They looked really excited, I've seen it in their faces.

I was thinking about what they suggested. What they said was true, they have not really met my son in person. Although, they know already I have a child.

"Okay." I said briefly.

"YES!" I laughed because they said it together.

"What time your party Mike?" I asked him.

"You can come at 7PM, enough cuz for sure you guys were really hungry then from work, like a hungry bunny." He said and laughing to us.

"You're really crazy Mike." We said to him and we laughed because of his mischief. The four of us were still laughing when the door suddenly opened, and the Department Head entered she look at us with a raised eyebrow. So we suddenly fell silent and suddenly the three disappeared. And went to their respective areas.

Mrs. Ramos is our department head, very strict during work hours but you can hang up and jokes with her when you are outside. I prefered that kind of deal too, so we can be focused on work.

Later on we are all became busy with our own works. Until the announcement is heard,

"Paging all the department heads, please proceed to the conference room right now. Paging all the department heads, please proceed to the conference room right now. Thank you."

Mrs. Ramos quickly came out in her small office which is also just inside our department, and quickly headed to the conference room.

We all just looked at each other, because of the call.

"Emergency meeting again, what is it this time." Marie said.

"We will know that when Mrs. Ramos come back." Kris answered Marie's question.

I don't know why I was suddenly felt nervous at that announcement. I do not understand my feelings. The force of my chest throbbing, As if something bad was going to happen.

'My God, why do I have this feeling, what is this all about?' I whispered softly to myself. I inhaled a few more times before starting work again.

Its almost lunch break when Mrs. Ramos came back. And I can see the sadness on her face, something that indicates that something bad has happened. 'What happened at the meeting.' I whispered again to myself.

My questions in mind were immediately answered when she spoke. She took a deep breath before starting.

"Listen everyone, we both know that we were called." We just nodded and no one spoke, everyone wanted to know why.

"The reason is, the CEO's condition is not good. And his critical, due to car accident last night. And he has not woken up yet." We were all shocked by that news and could not believe it. What only I can heard was, "OH MY GOD" and both had their own conclusion on what happened.

"And because of what happened, Sir James will be in charge of the company first. He is Sir Jason's older brother, who was based in the U.S. and please be cooperate. Take note, he is more strict and perfectionest than his brother. Thank you and get back to work." Mrs. Ramos. And walk back to her office.

Suddenly It was as if there were bees inside our office, because of what happened to our boss. And to our future boss.

"LET's go down its already lunch break." Kris said followed by Marie and Mike who were obviously anxious the latter. Maybe because of what happened to our boss.

I carried my bag and went out with them down at the Cafeteria. Weither inside and outside the office or in the Cafeteria, still the same issues. Its all about to our boss, what happened to Mr. Smith is in question. Many questions, others are jumping into conclusion.

We immediately ordered and sat down to eat. We just positioned next the wallglass side at the end. This is our favorite place. Because of this the four of us always in this side of cafertria. While eating, we still talked about what happened to our boss.

Mike suddenly stood up and apologized when his phone rang.

"Ladies sorry I really need to go." And in a hurry to leave. The three of us just looked at each other and returned the food.

We returned to the office immediately when we finnished our lunch.

Afterwards, our daily routine here in the office has ended. And ready to go home. Missing my son already.
