Chapter 4 The resemblance

Mr and Mrs Smith loved April, they enrolled her in an elementary school and she started from basic one. She was very brilliant and soon was promoted to the next class. Until one day, Mrs Smith received a visitor from the US, it was her brother who had come for a project work. He just graduated from the college and was employed immediately, he got his new job at Dubai as a survey engineer and so, he decided to lodge at his sisters house till he is through. His name is Francis, the moment Francis saw April, he loved her shape of body and would love to her have.

He knew she was adopted so he decided to take advantage of her. Each time Mr and Mrs Smith were away, Francis would take a carnal knowledge of April, he started by raping her and then later on, she liked it, they both begin to take advantage of themeselves. This they continued till April clock 12 years. By then, Francis had left for US and didn't bother to come back but they call each other. That was when April understood what Jennifer was doing then. She soon became more attractive and wanted to try it with every single guys in her college. Everyone knew April and not just for beauty but because she was able to handle many guys as lovers and enticed older men to herself. Mr and Mrs Smith are wealthy enough to take care of April, but they soon found out that she was doing exactly what Jennifer was doing under their roof and so they thought about what to do with her.

" Darling, I don't think its advisable to send April away, she is now our daughter ,and I can't afford to remain a barren woman" Mrs Smith said crying. " I know that April has been a soruce of joy to us, but then we can't afford to allow her tarnish our names in the mud, it has to be protected, let's have her leave Dubai and then we get another child ,preferably a son this time " Mr Smith suggested. " its April i want, you can go ahead and get another son but as for me, I love April " Mrs Smith said. She said she was going to sit April down and tak senses into her ,perhaps she might have a change of mind and stop embarrassing them. " fine, try your best to talk to her but if she still continues, I will have no choice than to take her back to where ever we brought her from". Mr Smith added.

That night, Mrs Smith had prepared April best meal of fried rice garnished with cucumber sauce and a Lap of beef. April came back and joyfully eat the delicious meal, while Mrs Smith sat down at the sitting room waiting for her to finish the meal. After she was done eating, she clean her mouth and was about heading to her room when Mrs Smith told her to come sit close to her. April didn't know what was wrong but she obeyed. Mrs Smith continued " My daughter, I know you love us and we also love you dearly, we want the best for you always but you are not making us happy " Mrs Smith said. April raised her eyebrows up as if something horrible had happened. " Mum, may I know how I haven't been making you happy " April asked. " Well, we have been hearing about how you kept....." Mrs Smith was interrupted. " I know where you are coming from and going to, this is just to inform you that I am very much aware about how you adopted me, you are not my real parents, so I am leaving this house of yours to search for my parents " April said. Mrs Smith almost fell , she never wanted April to leave. She started crying, she explained how she has been searching for a child for years but all to no avail, although April was grateful for their help but she wanted to be free. " then if you want me to remain here, let me be free like a bird" she said to Mrs Smith. Mrs Smith was already pleading, when Mr Smith heard their conversation, he came down and told April to leave if she wants to. " its shows that you are Truly a bastard because my own seed would never behave in this manner, go and meet your prostitute mother who sold you for a token" Mr Smith said. Hearing this, April begin to cry. She was crying not because of her actions but because she was never told that her real mother sold her for a token and was even a prostitute. She knew her mother wasn't Jennifer because Jennifer had sang it to her ears that she is not her mother, when she was four.

April ran upstairs to pack all her things and left Mr and Mrs Smith house. Mrs Smith cried out to Mr Smith to stop her, but he promised her they were going to get another child.

April left that night crying, she remembered her friend in the college, Becky, she called her and Becky accommodated her for the night. She explained everything her Foster parent told her, Becky however, advice her to stay calm and she was free to stay with her until she gets her own apartment.

April didn't know what to do, she thought about her mother and why she had to sell her off to Jennifer. She didn't know whether to search for her mother or to return to Jennifer. However, Becky told her to go to Jennifer instead because she was the only one who can help her find her mother. She aggred with the advice and told Becky she would begin her journey thr next day to find Jennifer. As she was still thinking, Francis called her, he had already been informed that April has left, he told April to instead come over to the US as he was ready to pay her ticket. But April said she has a mission to find her mother first then later come to the US.
