"What's the reason, Sir?" Biba asked a man with a thin beard, namely the Principal.
"Don't you know, Mrs. Biba? The one Mrs. Biba beat up was the son of the school foundations head!"
Biba stepped out of the room, then paused for a moment to raise her middle finger in front of the Principal who was glaring in surprise.
Come to think of it, Biba has been working at this school for five years but she doesn't feel any emotional attachment to that place at all. Apart from having a Principal who likes to grope her body, as well as colleagues who are indifferent to her, Biba is also disappointed because it turns out that school is not a sacred place as she imagined.
"What a picky. If only she cuddles with the principal, right? Ckckck." Biba was used to that kind of lewd remark from her colleagues.
Biba crosses paths with her boyfriend's mistress – oops, her ex. The woman smiled at Biba as if she had no idea what had happened.
"Mrs. Biba, it's a shame that Mrs. Biba has to go. I hope you are well, ma'am." She smiles like a fox.
"You know, If he treats you so sweetly, he learned that from me for five years. But if he suddenly moves on to another girl, just note that he learned that from you." Biba's voice held a hint of sarcasm.
The woman's face wrinkled. And Biba enjoys such sight to the fullest.
Tut. Tut. Tut...
"Cherish~ my dear friend. Today I have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?" Biba held the phone in one hand, while the other hand was used to devour two chicken skewer sticks at once.
"Wow, is there any good news left after you broke up with Dikma?" asked Cherish from across the phone call.
"There are."
"Okay. Tell me the good news."
"The good news is, I was fired from the school! Hehehe."
"Finally Bi! That lewd principal won't be able to try things with you anymore, right? Then you don't have to deal with your ex either, do you?" Cherish sounds happy.
"Of course, of course. Phew, what a relief."
"Keep going... so what's the bad news?"
"I got fired from the school, Cher," Biba said with a flat intonation.
"Ouch... then, do you have an idea where you want to work?"
"Not yet,"
"Very well, Bi! As it happens you can replace me on my job! Please, please, heung! Please~" Cherish's whining gets Biba's ears itchy.
"What kind of job are you working on now?"
"A nanny for a nine-year-old boy."
"Whoa! Hahahaha, really?! You? Become a nanny? So, why do you work as a nanny when you know you won't like it?"
"I need money. Lots of it,"
"You? The daughter of a conglomerate family needs money?"
"Dammit. I'm an illegitimate child, you know that I wasn't given pocket money after graduating from college." Cherish sounds sulky.
"Yeah sorry sorry. How long have you been working?"
"A week."
"..... crazy. THEN stick to it! It's only been a week too!" Biba slapped her neck.
"CAN NOT! I feel like butting my head on the wall eight times a day. My life is already a mess, but I'm even told to take care of other people's lives. I'm not even patient as a person! How can I take care a child?"
"Your fault."
"Yeah. Huh! I think I'm not a difficult person, Bi. But why am I always not happy with the work I do?"
"You're not a difficult person, Cher. You... just don't understand reality."
"Ouch."
"Then why am I being asked to replace you?" Biba asked while devouring the last chicken skewer.
"Cause I know you like kids. Even in the work contract, it says that if I want to resign, I have to find a replacement with the same specs. Or if I can't, I have to pay three times my one month's salary... sob! Where did I get the money?!"
"Well, your family is rich."
"I'm an illegitimate child, I told you! You bit*ch, you love to tease me like this!" Cherish pouted.
"Haha, sorry."
"Besides, I don't have any other friends who can or want to take my place, Bi. Come on~"
"Yeah, that's a given as I'm your only friend, Cher." Biba giggles, it would be more amusing if she could see her best friend's face in person.
"Ouch. Anyways! Don't you want to rekindle your dream of taking care of adorable kids?"
"I want to. But Cher, your job is at Merrsilver City right?"
"Yeah."
"Well, that's the hard part."
"Just come back to Merrsilver, Bi," Cherish pleading with her nasal voice.
"Nope. I wanna say in Tualin."
"Why Tualin? You like Tualin more than me?! Cherish quite often compared herself with something to Biba. There was a time when Cherish compared herself to street hotdogs because at that time Biba was obsessed with street hotdogs.
"Bi, this brat is really cute. He's awesome. The brat is very active and loves to learn. But I'm stupid, so when he asked me this and that, I froze! That's why Bi, replace me, please~"
"Hmm... I want to. Can't you move the boy to Tualin? I'll take care of him with all my heart!"
"That's crazy, you still don't want to go back to Merrsilver?!"
"Yup, it's better here. I can help uncle and aunty."
"900 dollars... a month."
"Wow, that's my salary for five months working as a teacher, Cher."
"Pretty good, right? So, replace me! Come on!" Cherish's whimpering grew louder.
"How stubborn. Again, it's suspicious. Isn't the salary too big for a nanny? I'm afraid there's something else." Biba narrowed her eyes quizzically.
"Please Bi, this is a family that owns Siastone. They can get that much money back in a minute."
"Ouch. I'm really interested, Cher. But Merrsilver is a no... haa. So I don't think I can. I'm excited to look for a job here. There must be a job for me, hehe."
"But B-"
Tut. Tut. Tuuut...
Contrary to her predictions. Biba was unemployed for a month! She just hanging around on the streets of Tualin City. Occasionally sitting at the bus stop to look at the vehicle plate number out of boredness.
That afternoon, she had just finished her job interview for the umpteenth time this week. But her hunch said that she wouldn't be accepted at the place just now. Biba grimaced wryly. Thinking back to how the interview went.
"Mrs. Biba Bailey, hm 29 years old, huh? Married?" Ask the woman with a big dazzling mole on her cheek.
"Not married yet, ma'am. Also, no boyfriend and there's no intention of getting married in the near future." Biba replied enthusiastically so that she would be judged as someone who could focus on work.
"Mhm. Why aren't you married? Is there something wrong with you?" The woman muttered as she looked at Biba from head to toe.
Biba forgot that out there there would be some people who looked down on her physique. Moreover, the age factor that is not young anymore as a woman, the job opportunities are getting narrower.
Biba opened and closed her passbook whose numbers were sad.
"Haha.. five years of work, but there are only ninety dollars in savings. Wow, what a fantastic life I have!" Biba clapped while laughed wryly.
Her salary as a teacher is indeed small, especially during the five years of work, her salary has never increased. She doesn't even get bonuses. It's all because of that flirty principal! But Biba never complained about being short in money, instead, she gave part of her salary to Uncle and Aunt who had been taking care of her for a long time. But after seeing the state of her savings now, her heart was wavering.
Plus, yesterday she overheard the conversation between his uncle and aunt about her.
"Mom, Dad, how long will Sis Biba continue living with us? She's even unemploy." Her cousin whine at her parents.
"Hush. Your sis is diligently looking for a job now. She also likes to help our shop, don't say that, kiddo. What will happen when Biba hears it?" Uncle said while gently ruffling the hair of his only daughter.
"Huh! But how long? I want to have my own room."
"But honey, isn't Biba going to get married? Don't you have any acquaintances who have good sons? Let's match them up." Her aunt sounds excited.
The conversation rang in Biba's head until the next day. All this time, her aunt would always tell Biba that they were her family. So Biba was asked not to hesitate. And because of those words, Biba with a thick face remained among the three. To play a family until a certain time limit, because she herself realized that she would not be a part of their family.
In the midst of her confusion - still gazing at the passing vehicle plates number and guessing where the vehicle came from, her cell phone rang.
Biba snorted in annoyance.
"What else?" Biba asked annoyed.
"You didn't get the job, did you? Hoho, of course. Right?"
Biba wondering how could she be friends with a girl like Cherish who was very happy to hear her friend's misfortune.
"Okay, Cher. I'll take your place." Biba waved the white flag.
