Chapter 5 Diner

Nathan sat down in his seat because Professor Wilson's class is about to start...

Ring!

The class has ended at exactly 7:00 p.m and it's already time for Nathan to go to work.

"Hey! Nate, I'm going out first, I need to come home before 7:30 or else my mom will scold me when I arrive late" Nick said.

"Sure. Take care, bye" I said waving his hand.

"Yeah! Bye," Nick said and walked out of the classroom.

Nathan packed his things up and was ready to go out when someone suddenly calls out to him.

"Hey! Nathan!" Nathan turned around and saw Leo and Ashley walking towards him wearing a beautiful smile on their faces.

"Hi, guys! Is there anything I can help with?" Nathan asked.

"Don't be so humble Nate we're classmates after all" Leo said.

"He's right Nathan. By the way, we just wanted to ask you if you want to join us for a dinner? We just wanted to befriend you and get to know each other" Ashley suggested with a smile.

"I'm sorry but I have to refuse this time since I have to work, you know, part-time," Nathan said while rubbing the back of his head.

"If that is the case then we will eat where you worked. Right, Ash? I heard that it's a small diner" Leo said and glance at Ashley if she would agree with the idea.

"Well, that's great. Let's go" Ashley walks out of the room with Leo not wanting to wait for Nathan's reply.

'I guess these two are desperate to befriend me. So, I can only nod and followed them out'

They arrived at Lila's small diner and walk-in.

They look for a tool to sit and search for the dishes they want to order, on the menu.

Nathan didn't join them because it's almost time for him to work, 7:30 is his duty until 1:00 midnight. so, he still has 15 min. to change and eat before he starts working.

Leo was surprised when he looks at the menu of Lila's cafe.

He was so shocked because of how cheap and affordable the dishes they serve.

"Hey, Ash! Look at this menu" Leo calls Ashley and handed her the menu.

Ashley looks at the menu that Leo gave to her and she likewise was stunned by the prices of the dishes.

Lila's Diner

Starter:

Cheesy Overload Nachos $1.25

Potato Wages with Creamy Dip $1.00

Fried Onion Rings $1.30

Entree:

Pulled Pork Burger $2.50

Cheese Overload Burger $3.15

Cheese Burger with Mozzarella $4.00

Dessert:

Blueberry Cheesecake $1.25

Lemon Meringue $1.25

Chocolate Mousse $1.50

Oreo Cheesecake $1.25

Lemon Squares $1.00

Beverages:

Soda $1.00

Ice Tea or Red Tea $1.25

Fruit Shake $3.00

Leo glance at her and they were in awe because they can buy this whole diner if they want to.

Ashley is from a middle-class family and they run a clothing shop called Manhattan St. Boutique.

There are approximately 10 stores that her family owns in whole Manhattan.

Each boutique has a revenue of $560k per month, and it's also a famous store in Manhattan.

Ashley's savings every month is about $50k and If she wanted to buy this small cafe she just needs to pay it right away.

That goes the same for Leo, his family owns a lot of gyms in the whole of Manhattan. There is also a Sports Field.

A gym has revenue of $150k every 3 months and the sports field is $300k once a month.

Leo's monthly savings is about $35k per month, and if he wanted to buy this small cafe like Ashley he just needs to pay a down payment.

Nathan wandered through the staff door and change his clothes to a waiter's uniform.

He walked out of the staff room and look up to find where Leo and Ashley sat down.

They wave their hand at him and he strolled towards them.

"Hi, Guys!" Nathan greeted them with a smile on his face.

They look at him.

"My shift is about to start in 15 mins" Nathan added.

They still looking at him.

"Do you guys have ordered yet?" Nathan asked, waiting for the answer.

Nathan looked at them and he's confused why they didn't say a word.

They are just staring at him.

"Not yet" they both answered.

"Well, I can get the order for you just say it to me. What do you guys want?"

"Everything..." they both answered

Nathan was stunned when they say the word "Everything".

He looked at them wearing a shocked expression.

"We're just both hungry so, we will buy everything on your menu," Ashley said with a smile on her face. Leo also nods his head indicating that she agreed with Ashley.

"I...Okay," That's the only word that came out of Nathan's mouth. He asked the cook by the diner and says that his friends are ordering everything on the menu and He also added a pulled pork burger and a soda for his dinner, the cook hurriedly prepares the dishes and it will take 25 mins for everything to be served.

So, Nathan goes back to his seat, facing the two.

Ashley and Leo look at him and he can see through them that they want to ask something g but they're afraid that they might hurt Nathan's s feelings.

"C'mon spit it out. I know that you want to ask a question. What is it?" Nathan said.

They look at him amused because Nathan saw through them that something is bothering them.

"How much is your salary when you're working here?" Leo asked after he gathered his courage to ask Nathan this question.

"I worked here 5 hours per day, and the pay per hour is $12, you will receive the full payment by the end of the month. Usually, my monthly income here will be $1,500 to $1,800. The pay depends on how many hours I work, the longer I do the job the greater the payment will be. The shorter I do the job the lowest the payment will be" Nathan answered them truthfully.

"Is it hard to be a waiter?" Ashley asked.

"On the first day that I worked here it is a little bit tough, but if you get used to it you will never feel that way again" Nathan answered her with a smile.

They looked at Nathan with admiration in their eyes and Nathan smiled back at them.

Nathan look at the clock and it's already time for him to get to work.

"Oh it's already my shift I need to start now guys, just wait for your order I will serve it in 10 mins," Nathan said.

"Okay," Leo and Ashley said while Nathan strode towards the kitchen room.

Nathan prepares the order of Ashley and Leo in the kitchen. He wandered towards them and serve their dishes.

"Your order is here, Cheesy Overload Nachos, Potato Wages with Creamy Dip, Fried Onion Rings, Pulled Pork Burger, Cheese Overload Burger, Cheese Burger with Mozzarella, Blueberry Cheesecake, Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Mousse, Oreo Cheesecake, Lemon Squares, Soda, Ice Tea, and Red Tea, and the Fruit Shake. Bon appetite! [Enjoy your meal]" Nathan served them with a smile on my face.

Nathan continues with his work and serves the other customers...

This is going to be a long night.
