Chapter 2 They broke the wrong part of me. They broke my wings and forgot I had claws

"You've read all about us I see."

I jumped from my seat in fear and turned around only to be met by the similar pair of eyes those took my breath away this morning. Damien was there leaning on the sofa I had been sitting on, trying to level himself with me.

I opened my mouth to justify myself but nothing came out, something about the way he looked at me was so intimidating that it made me feel so small and vulnerable.

"Did you do the work I sent you after I left?" He asked avoiding the topic that had just started.

I just looked at him afraid to lose my job.

"Answer me, Lennon" he commanded raising his voice a little.

"My email isn't working" I quickly blabbered the only excuse that came to my mind. He looked at me with a 'really Lennon?' Face.

"It's alright...just cancel all my meetings for tomorrow after 11 am, and if there is anything important tell me! Also tomorrow Hayden will replace me till the next week." He concluded.

'Oh no' I thought.

Not seeing him for a week, it gave out a very different feel, a feeling I've never felt before. Even tho I barely know this person.

Was it angst, or sadness?

Without knowing a frown formed on my face.

Damien came closer and closer until there was no gap left between us but still our bodies did not collide yet.

He leaned in closer to my ear.

"Don't worry it's just week." He whispered in my ear sending shivers down my spine.

His hot breath was hitting my earlobe, making me crave for his touch. I didn't know what he was talking about until now.

My eyes widened as realisation hit me.

He knew it.

He knew what I was thinking.

'Was he some kind of a mind reader or is it just his assumption. Why would someone assume something about you and out of all...he?'

I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a chuckle and a door being slammed shut.

I felt a sudden wave of anger wash over me, even tho it was just a tide, I felt the urge to go behind him to clear his misunderstanding.

And so I did.

(Haha my mind is in full denial mode)

I rushed out of the cabin looking for him, I looked to my left and then the right, in the process I forgot to look in front And collided with a rough and hard chest making me fall back and scream.

"Easy there miss!" Said a very familiar voice. I looked up to see the man I accidentally shook hands with.

"Oh so it's you!" He said in a very uninterested way.

"Do you ever do something right?" He asked in a very frustrated tone.

"I am sorry!" I replied gritting my teeth and trying not to burst off right in front of him.

Before he could continue his phone rang, he glared at me and picked it up.

He went away talking on the phone, I got up groaning.

I looked down and saw an envelope fallen on the ground from that jerk's pocket and it was addressed to Hayden.

The name sounded familiar.

"Also tomorrow Hayden will replace me for the next week." I remembered Damien telling me this.

I thought of giving it to Hayden the next morning when he comes.

I walked in my cabin and kept the letter in my drawer and proceeded cancelling all the meetings for tomorrow after 11.

I couldn't focus.

My mind had been roaming around the envelope I saw earlier.

Curiosity got the best of me and opened it.

Inside was a sheet with the drawing of the same tattoo Damien had on his neck and a pair of black wings had been drawn flawlessly on the next sheet.

The third paper had a text on it which read

'THEY BROKE THE WRONG PART OF ME,

THEY BROKE MY WINGS

AND FORGOT I HAD CLAWS.

Refer to page 2'

And lastly was the name Regina phalanges.

"That's mine" echoed a very angry voice throughout the cabin.

I looked up horrified and saw a unfamiliar figure standing by the door and his eyes red.

And by red I do not mean like the ones we have after crying and weeping but the actual red ones , the veins on his head were popping out.

I got up from my chair horrified "I am sorry I didn't mean to-" i stammered but couldn't finish as he came up to me and snatched the envelope out of my hand.

"Easy there, Hayden" said a very familiar voice.

He was the one who dropped the envelope, the one I shook hands accidentally with. "What are you doing again, HUH?" He asked fuming.

"Why'd you drop it Aiden, you can't just go around trusting bitches." Hayden said clearly referring to me as the bitch. But I didn't fight back this time since I 'very clearly' knew who is at fault.

"I don't trust her, it's Damien." Aiden said snatching the envelope from the Hayden's hand.

Hayden had the similar looking tattoo like Aiden and Damien's. He had a red skull with ovals surrounding it making it look like a mini symbiotic kind of skeleton and in between there was an eye.

Both of them looked at me, Hayden's eyes were red again and that is when I knew he isn't normal

My went blank for a second thinking I wouldn't make it out of this room but was bought back to reality by a very loud voice, it wasn't angry it just held no emotion and was more of a agitated one.

"Ah, brother wearing lenses again, eh?" Aiden asked more like confirmed it to him.

He looked up at Aiden with his expression changing from anger to blank and then nervous.

"Uhh, yeah" Hayden stuttered out.

"Complete the work Damien told you." Aiden commanded as I shakily nodded still shook up from the red piercing eyes stare.
