It was 12 o'clock at noon when Noah just finished checking up on Sophia and her lunch. He sat in his spacious office facing the floor to wall glass ceiling and looking at the busy view of the city. He turned back his swivel chair to face his broad table full of documents. He started flipping through them again.
Suddenly, a woman wearing a corporate attire walked in without invitation. She looked mature and serious, but the anticipation in her eyes cannot be hidden as she laid her eyes on the man behind the table.
"Burying in work again?" She asked playfully at Noah like they were familiar.
"Good afternoon too, Ms. Cole," he answered indifferently. He was always like this. Rachel Cole and him were in the same circle of elites. The Coles are also one of influential family in the country. The Ricci were a powerful family, and people, even the elites looked up to them. Especially now to the new leader of the family, Noah Ricci. He was already a prodigy since he was young. He entered the industry like a typhoon, and became one of the youngest business tycoon in the country.
Both she and him were ambitious and business minded. They entered the same school and always encountered each other in business events and parties. Rachel always had her eyes on him from the start. She always thought they were perfect for each other, but this gentleman remained indifferent. And as a woman born in a sophisticated and conservative family, she can only look at him from afar and wait for him to make a move. But what happened was otherwise.
"You're busying here while your little wife sat idly at home," she said mockingly. She knew perfectly he was married, yet she does not know what's with that little brat that this man cannot let go of her.
"What can I help you, Ms. Cole? But I do hope its business related," Noah brushed off the woman's mocking. He looked up at her and watched her seriously. Gazing at the handsome man, Rachel cannot help thinking how unfair for this man to end up with that brat, so she bantered,
"That little miss, she'll suck every once of honor in you. I bet she only cared of what you can offer. Wake up already, Noah. The deal with you and the Donsons was long sealed. You don't need suck up with that brat anymore." Rachel finally said the words that long stuck on her mind. Seeing how the man never changed his expression, she continued,
"That useless girl, all she cares about are her whims. Listen-" yet she was interrupted by a sudden slam on the table. Noah finally lost his patience.
"I care for my company and your family's partnership. But I will never tolerate disrespect to my wife. Serve this as a warning. You may now leave," he ordered coldly. His words was obviously a cut off and Rachel lost any chance to retort.
