Chapter 3

Lee's pov

I can't believe how Beautiful Rose is. I mean she was very beautiful when she was younger, but damn she grew up well. From what everyone around her says she is one hell of a worker. Always looking out for everyone else and has a heart of gold. I wonder why her dad felt he had to go behind her back and hire me. She was over protective of the ranch but that's understandable.

I wonder if her father has even told her just how sick he is. He told my pops he needed me out here as soon as possible because he didn't have much time left on this earth, and he knew his daughter would need me. I was expecting some poor helpless woman not the spitfire that tore me a new one when she first saw me.

I hurried with my shower, so I could possibly get a chance to talk to Rose before everyone showed up. I can't help that she intrigues me. To me she was still that little girl that would kiss me then always run off and hide. I hurried down the stairs after I got dressed so I wouldn't be late for dinner.

The last thing I wanted to do was miss a meal because I was mighty hungry. I fixed all the fencing and let me tell you that was a pain. There isn't a part on my body that wasn't sore. There sure was a lot that needed fixing around here, but I was up for the challenge. I knew she was testing me to see if I would leave.

I'm sure she would love that, but she needs to know I'm not going anywhere. I gave my word, and my word is my honor I would never go back on it. I went into the kitchen and saw Rose sitting down.

"Hey, did I take too long?"

"Nope looks like you're the only one here early to eat everyone else is still out doing stuff."

"Oh, should I go out and help?"

"No, I heard you fixed the whole fence that is more than enough for the day. Sit and eat before it gets cold."

I have to admit I was a little happy that it was just me and her eating right now. I didn't miss how much I missed being around her until right now. It broke my heart when I had to leave this place when I was younger. I was so in love with her, but I never dared to tell her. I looked up and saw her dishing my plate.

"Oh, you don't have to do that."

"It's not a problem really. It's an I'm sorry for how I acted earlier."

"No need to apologize I acted like a fool."

She looked at me and we both laughed.

"Guess we both kind of did. It is good to see you again Lee. So, tell me what you have been up to since the last time I saw you."

"It's great seeing you to. Well I have been working for my dad and that kept me pretty busy until he told me I needed to come down here. I jumped at the chance to come back to this place. I missed it when I had to leave."

"Yes, this place is like a little slice of heaven."

I didn't know what to say so I just stayed silent and ate. I didn't come back for the ranch I came back for her. This was my second chance with the perfect girl. I wasn't going to let anything or anyone get in the way this time.
