"How did you know."
Just then.
My phone rang.
It was my mum.
I had different thoughts going through my head.
So many questions are unanswered.
I was frightened.
I looked at him.
He nodded.
"Pick it."
He said.
"O-okay, b-bu-tt."
"Doyin, just pick the call. And put it on speaker."
"All right."
I picked.
"Hello, Doyin."
I was silent for a minute.
Didn't have words to say.
I was lost in thoughts.
I've just been told that the one who killed my father was my mother.
He gave me a nudge.
"H-Hey, mom."
I smiled brazenly.
"Doyin."
Her voice sounded like she had been crying for days.
It sounded rather cracky and very low.
She must have been crying the whole day.
"Mom," I said softly. "Have you been crying the whole day?"
"I can't stop thinking about your dad."
She busted into tears.
"It's okay mom, we'll be fine. I'll make sure to bring Dad's killer to book."
I looked at Mr. Dan.
"But honey, your dad wasn't killed, he committed suicide. I tried to stop him, but he pushed me against the wall."
The tone of her voice changed, as though she was getting angry.
I was surprised.
It was quite strange.
Something wasn't just right.
It felt like make-believe.
But I shrugged it off.
I didn't want to believe what Mr. Dan said.
I wanted to give her a benefit of the doubt.
"It's true mom, Dad committed suicide."
He was shocked.
He freed me from his grasp.
I looked at him.
Then I looked up.
"But why-- why did he do."
She cut in.
"Doyin, come home, and I'll tell you all you need to know."
She said.
With a little bit of authority I her voice.
"No----I----I mean yes, I'm on my way now."
"Hurry! Your f-father's lawyer is here, t-to read the will."
She said.
"What will?"
Mr. Dan looked at me.
His mouth is half-open.
"Doyin!"
He whimpered.
"Who's that."
She said.
I quickly gave him a signal.
"O-oh. It's nothing mom!"
"come home now!"
She hung up.
He frowned.
"So, what are you going to do with this information I just gave you?"
Folding his arms.
"I don't know what to think Mr. Dan, I mean, I'm so confused."
I replied.
"Well, when you've decided on what to do, call me."
He held out his card.
"Okay."
I collected the card.
He smiled.
"We'll talk over a rendezvous, and be careful, not to be brainwashed."
He then walked back to his seat.
