Chapter 3 A shocking birthday

"What's this? You're into it again? Didn't you already read it for like a thousandth time?" Alexa freaked as soon as she got inside the car and saw her friend holding the book, "Twilight: New moon."

"Oh, come on! Don't underestimate my love for Jacob Black, I can read it for another 1000 times!" Her eyes had hearts.

"Of course your favorite werewolf again!" Alexa rolled her eyes.

"Can't help it! I'm Conner," Conner smiled proudly, Conner Smith, a 21-year-old, happy-go-lucky girl, and of course a big fan of werewolves, they had been friends since high school and there wasn't a single day where she didn't speak of the supernatural creatures, the werewolves.

"yeah yeah, of course! Myth lover!" Alexa mocked her.

"It's a werewolf lover," Her friend corrected her, "Werewolf hater!" She shouted, allegedly pointing her index finger.

"Hey, I don't particularly hate werewolves. I hate the entire supernatural concept. You know the demons, fairies, vampires, and werewolves. I'm a grown-up," Alexa defended herself.

"Yeah, a 20-year-old granny," Conner mocked her.

"I'm turning 21 in the next 18 hrs," Alexa retorted.

"Okay, 21 years old granny then," Conner pulled out her tongue.

"Whatever," Alexa rolled her eyes.

"You just ruined my mood! Let me admire my man," Her friend sulkily opened her phone, which had a wallpaper of Taylor Lautner, "Jacob!" She swooned over the picture. Her eyes instantly shined again.

"That's Taylor Lautner," Alexa commented.

"Shut up! Don't ruin my moment! You vampire!" Conner glared at her.

"Excuse me! Don't you dare call me a blood-sucking monster!" Alexa scoffed.

The car halted, and the impact threw the two of them in the front.

"What the hell, Kevin?!" Alexa shouted at her friend who was in the driver's seat, Kevin Warthin, her friend since high school.

"Give me a break already! You guys are wearing my ears out!" Kevin shouted, turning to them.

"Yeah, poor you," Lia clicked her tongue from the passenger seat, Lia Terrel, Alexa's best friend since middle school.

"Thanks, Lia," Kevin muttered as his lips pressed together in a tight line.

"Hey, guys! Cooldown! We're going on a trip, not on a war?" Tyler intervened from the back seat.

"She started." Conner glared at Alexa.

"Drop it, Con," Murphy, her twin brother reprimanded from behind.

"Let's play some music, Lia, please do the honor?" Tyler looked at Lia, Lia shrugged as she turned on some rock music. With the music drumming in their ears, the group resumed the trip.

"I'm so dead! Mom's going to kill me. It's already 11 pm! Look at the number of missed calls! I told you we should've left earlier." Alexa shouted as soon as she got out of the car.

"How's that my fault? The car broke down, remember?" Kevin said in his defense.

"Come on," Lia hugged her best friend trying to calm her down, "It's your b'day in an hour, cheer up!" She rubbed her arms as they moved towards the house.

The house was dark, "Why aren't the lights on? Mom can't be sleeping," Alexa frowned.

Sensing something, Kevin's eyes narrowed, "Wait here," he rushed inside the house. Tyler gave a sideways glance at Lia, she then nodded at him, "You guys stay here," Tyler followed Kevin inside.

"Why? Is it a surprise birthday party or something?" Alexa shrugged, looking at Lia.

"I guess." Lia smiled at her, but the smile didn't reach her eyes.

"How come I don't know about this surprise party?" Conner eyed Lia accusingly.

"Me neither," Murphy narrowed his eyes.

Just then they heard a crash noise from inside.

"What was that?" Conner blinked, looking at the dark house.

"Forget about the surprise, I'm going inside!" Alexa made her way to the door.

"No, you're not!" Lia stood in front, blocking her way.

The noise grew louder, Alexa tried to go ahead, but Lia didn't budge. Suddenly something broke out of her window, something huge. That thing landed on the ground, shaking the ground with the impact.

"What the hell is that?" Murphy shouted in horror, looking at the gigantic creature.

The creature shook its head, stabilizing itself on the ground, it growled at them.

"Is that a wolf?" Conner blinked in surprise.

"Step back!" Lia suddenly jumped forward and right in front of their eyes, she turned into a wolf attacking the other wolf.

"Whoa! Did I just see what I just saw?" Conner shouted. Her mouth gaped.

Another loud noise came from the house, "Mom!" Alexa turned around, her mom was inside, "I gotta go to my mom!" She ran inside the house only to find her house invaded by wolves, they were all over the place.

"Mom?" She shouted. She then sensed something approaching her, she felt a gush of wind blow her hair, she gulped, just then someone pushed her aside, "Run!" She heard him shout. Her eyes widened as she witnessed her savior. The pale creature tore the limbs of the other creature that had approached her. He grabbed another one and piercing his sharp fangs on his neck, he sucked him dry.

"K-Kevin?" It took her a while to recognize it was her friend, her voice trembled, her eyes widened as she watched him wipe his blood-stained lips.

She shrieked as another creature was about to attack her, her knees wobbled, she fell on the ground, her eyes shut but nothing came when she opened her eyes Kevin had his hands on his neck, throttling him, "Run, Alex!" He shouted at her. Her legs refused to cooperate, she crawled up to the stairs when she felt something grab her leg when she turned around a pale creature zoomed right in front of her, she tried to kick him off but he didn't budge, just then a wolf jumped in, kicking the man, bashing him through the wall, Alexa ran to her room and shut the door behind her, "What the hell's going on?" She hugged her knees.

The door burst open as a wolf approached her, "No! Go away!" She crawled back until her back hit the wall. The wolf slowly approached her. The moonlight broke through the cloud, the light entered her room and shined on its silver fur. Her breath hitched as it neared. The wolf then nudged her gently, "It's okay, Mama's here." It whispered.

"Mom?!" Her eyes widened.

She was shocked? Terrified? What was going on? It was her birthday, and she expected they had prepared a surprise party or something when Kevin stopped her from entering her own house but she found groups of vampire and Werewolves invading her house, her friends suddenly turned into animals and her mom was nowhere to be found and now a wolf talked to her in her mom's voice?!
