Chapter 5 4

Two days later

Darrelle's POV

I sat there waiting for her to pick up, sitting around my desk.

"You got the flowers?" I asked the moment the call connected.

"Yes, I did," she replied sounding distracted.

"You're only doing this because you want to fuck me, " she added and I chuckled.

"You think I'm some sort of devil's spawn or something?"

"I think you're a man, "

"Nia if I was looking to fuck you, I wouldn't spend $250 on roses everyday, I would have spent $30," I replied truthfully.

"Then what do you want?" She asked and I smiled.

"Why don't I tell you over dinner, tonight?"

"I'm busy,"

"Tommorow night?"

"I'm busy," she lied and I laughed.

"Can you take me serious?" I asked

"Don't you have work?"

"My meeting doesn't start for another ten minutes,"

"Well I'm busy"

"How about lunch?"

"I'm busy,"

"What time are you leaving work?"

"I'm staying until 11,"

"Alright then I'll see you when I get off," I said ending the call before she could get a chance to argue. It's weird just how quickly her feelings towards me continues to change, one minute she is all for me then the next doesn't wanna give me the time of day.

I picked up my phone calling her as I walked into the building.

"I'm here," I said the moment she answered.

"You were serious? " She asked confused the sounding of moving paper in the background.

"Why wouldn't I be?" I asked chuckling, checking my watch it 8:23 pm, it took over thirty minutes to get here because of the traffic and the fact I stopped to pick up some food.

"Are you gonna let me up?" I asked and there was nothing but silence I chuckled.

"Come on, I just want to see you," I added and she sighed.

"Hold on," she said as I walked over to the receptionist.

"I'm here to see Ms Graham," I told her and she looked up at me.

"Is she expecting you?"

"Yeah, hold on," I said handing her the phone after a second she returned it.

"70th floor, third door on the left,"

"Thank you," I said walking away, putting my phone in my pocket, I followed her instructions arriving at Nia's office door. I knocked it, pushing it opening after I heard a small come in.

I stepped in, closing the door, my eyes immediately going to her, her head buried in the papers before her, not sparing me a glance. Her curly hair in a messy bun on top of her head, she was dressed in a red button down shirt, a stylish gold watch on her hand.

I desperately wanted her to stand so I could see the rest of her bu-

"Are you going to stand and stare for the duration of your visit? " She asked sounding distracted I cleared my throat, snapping out of the trance she placed me in, moving to sit in the chair infront of her desk.

"I brought you food," I announced and she looked up at me, a loose curly strand of hair falling in her face. She motioned for me to hand it over and I chuckled doing just that, she opened her bag looking inside.

"Thank you," she said placing it to the side.

"So you're not going to eat?" I asked as she returned her attention to the papers before her.

"After I get done with this,"

"And when will that be?"

"When I'm finished," she replied and I smiled leaning back in the chair, looking around her office.

"You have a nice office," I pointed out and she mumbled a small thank you. I sighed returning my gaze to her, she titled her head to the side biting at the end of her pen, looking down at the paper before her. She was so goddamn beautiful-

"Can you pass me the pencil on the table over there please?" she asked and I nodded saying a small sure, getting the pencil, handing it to her sitting down.

"So what are you working on?"

"A case," she replied using the pencil to mark out something.

"What is the case about?"

"Are you going to be asking me questions the entire time?" She asked rubbing her neck as if in pain.

"I guess so," I mumbled getting up, she looked up from her paper her eyes following me as I moved over to her.

"What are you doing?" She asked her eye planted on me making me chuckle.

"Neck strain?" I asked pointing to where her fingers were.

"Mostly likely," she replied her eyes hesitant.

"I just wanna help," I said as I moved behind her.

"Relax your shoulders," I added and she did, as I placed two fingers where her neck and shoulders met, pressing firmly. She let out a small moan relaxing, and I began rubbing slowly. A small smile on my face, after a minute I pulled away.

"Better?" I asked.

"Yeah," she said rubbing her hand against the skin my fingers had vacated.

"Where did you learn to do that?" She asked as I moved to sit in the seat I was before.

"My mother is a masuse, I picked up a couple things," I told her and she nodded, turning back to her work.

"Do you stay back every night?" I asked watching her buried in her work.

"Not every night but most," she replied and I leaned back once more, just watching her, appreciating her small movements, the focus and passion swimming in her eyes as she engaged in the work before her.

"Do you really want to spend your night watching me work?" She asked

"I'm here aren't I," I said and she sighed turning back to her work. My eyes moved around her office once more and I spotted the roses I sent her on a desk in a small corner.

"You kept them," I announced and she looked up at me confused, before following my gaze.

"Yeah, I did," she said turning back to her work and I smiled.
