Chapter 4 Meeting Angel Harris

Mila POV

People say, 'new year marks a new beginning and new beginnings bring happiness', well that wasn't my case when I walked into the company.

A mixture of emotions churned deep inside me, as I took a deep breath, breathing in all the uncertainty that surrounded me.

I didn't know what would become of me, now that Mr. Harris was retired. The office felt empty without his presence but I chose to be positive.

'Maybe his son isn't that bad? Maybe he was just like his father? and the company needs a fresh young face, anyways.' I said to myself comforting myself with each word.

I quickly greeted Jolie at the lobby, as I hurriedly made my way up to the last floor.

Today was the day. The day the new CEO starts and I don't want him to get there before me.

Reaching to the office and seeing no one, I became overly curious, as to why he wasn't here yet, so I decided to carefully peep through the boss's office to see if the new boss had already started work.

I was so engrossed looking around that I was immediately brought back to reality when I heard a deep muscular voice say:

"So, are you done invading my personal space?" He said in a deep voice.

Hearing his voice made me jump in fright, as I turned around looking at him as I shivered nervously.

Looking up I noticed his perfectly chiselled face, with his deep brown hair and his sliver grey eyes.

And Damn! Those eyes were heavenly that I got lost in them.

My eyes unconsciously trailed down his body, as I scanned every aspect of his perfectly built torso which was trying to escape his well-tailored suit.

'Damn this man is breath-taking' but looking at him I felt he looked familiar, as if I have seen him before.

"Miss..... I don't appreciate you staring at me like that!" He snapped at me bringing me back to my obvious reality.

"I'm so sorry." I pleaded as I stepped aside giving him room to enter the office.

Looking at him walk in with so many unanswered questions hovering around in my head. 'Could he be Angel Harris, the new CEO?' I asked myself.

I just couldn't concentrate on work, as the thought of man seated in that office was making my heart beat fast.

I soon heard the phone ring, as I rushed quickly to get it but before I could even speak he shouted:

"In my office. Now!" He ordered.

I quickly did as I was told rushing into his office. And like always, the sight of him made me weak in the knees as I tried my best to keep my composure.

"You asked to see me." I replied fidgeting with the hem of my clothes.

He looked at me for a while, as if he was trying to find hidden secrets in a lost cave with his eyes showing indifference.

"What's your name?" He asked in a commanding, yet sexy, voice.

"I'm Mila Brown." I replied with trembling lips.

He continued to stare, so intensely, at me with his eyes slightly closed, as if he was trying to figure me out.

Feeling uncomfortable and bare under his gaze, I saw a slight smirk appear on his face, as if he was aware of the effects he had on me, but immediately it was taken over by his cold demeanour.

I wanted to move, to be free from his unwanted gaze but I was trapped. Trapped in his strange but intoxicating gaze.

"I....." I was about to speak trying to break the silence between us, but then he spoke:

"I need you to call a meeting for the whole company." He said still looking intensely at me.

I felt hesitant, I didn't know what to do or say. I didn't know the man seated before me.

"But I don't know who you are. You just walked into this place, as if you owned it." I murmured lowly with my heart threatening to jump out of my chest.

In a swift moment before I could even react, I saw him close to me grabbing me by the arm.

"How dare you?" He spat out so venomously.

I couldn't move, as what I saw in his eyes scared the hell of out me.

"I'm sorry, sir." I let out, as tears clouded my eyes.

He didn't speak, staring so deeply into my eyes, as silence took over the atmosphere.

"Sir, you are hurting me." I let out again, struggling to set myself free from him.

Maybe he saw the terror in my eyes, as he realised his grip from me. The expression on his face fell as he stepped away from me.

"I'm Angel Harris." He muttered so low that I couldn't barely even hear as he walked back to his chair. "Now you know who I am! Can you do your damn job and stop staring at me?" He let out, as his expression went back to his former intimidating form.

Nodding my head, still shaken from the incident that had just happened, I walked out of his office wondering so many things. 'How could Mr. Harris have a demon as his son? Mr. Harris was so kind hearted and generous while his son was the opposite of him.'

Suddenly, I could feel a tightness in my chest and my legs threatening to give out to the floor as I willed myself not to cry, not to allow his words to defeat me.

I fought so hard to be here. I won't allow a spoilt arrogant man child to come out of the blue and destroy everything I had worked for.

Working so hard to find my place here in the last 6 months, so I won't let him break me.

I won't let him win! I would show him what Mila Brown is made of!

Because, I knew deep down that Angel Harris, CEO of Harris Construction was in for a long ride.
