I walked back into the room when Mariah's head is lifted up in fear from hearing her father's voice. I looked back as he disappeared out of the hospital, "He is gone. You don't have worry about him anymore."
She looked down as her sweet voice whispered, "I tried to find you." I went back to my seat as I sat down, "It kind hard to find a man that didn't exist." Her eyes widened as I sighed, "My name isn't Eli Johnson. It is Liam Grant." She shook her head as she teared up at me, "Why?" I bowed my head, "Usually when people learn who I am then they try to use me for the name or my money. I learned to use a fake name to avoid all that."
She turned her head away from me, "I wouldn't never do that to you." I nodded my head, "I know that now. I also tried to find you. I wanted to tell you the truth of who I was." Her watery eyes looked down at me, "You did?" I nodded as I smirked at her, "This whole time you was right under my nose."
She looked over to her little boy, "You are his father." I chuckled as I looked back, "I figured that since he looks just like me besides the beautiful blues." I lifted hand to her jawline. She pulled away from my touch when my hand dropped to her hand, "What did my father say?"
Fuck.
"You are moving in with me." I said while looked into her eyes as they widened.
She sighed, "I can't just move in with you Liam. I don't even know you." My jaw tightened but she is right she doesn't know me, and I don't know her. I bowed my head, "I know that your father is abusing you and you are on the urge of losing your son because of it. Please, Mariah. Let me help you out."
She sighed as she looked over to Ethan, "You are his father, but we sleep in separate rooms." I lifted from my seat as I hugged her as she stiffened up, "I have the room to make that happened." I let her go as she tilted her head, "How long have you known?"
Fuck.
Fuck.
She going to flip out.
I bowed my head, "About a week. I saw you and him in the elevator when he pressed all the numbers for the floors." She shook her head then chuckled, "I thought I saw you then I thought it was in my head."
I chuckled as I placed my hand into hers, "Pretty impress how you was able to fix the problem." She shrugged her shoulders, "A police officer told me about it to keep us from having to ride up all the floors one by one."
The doctor knocked lightly on the door as he walked in, "How is everyone feeling?" She looked over to Ethan as his eyes started to open, "Mommy." She sighed as the doctor checked him out, "Mommy is here. Baby."
She seems like she is a good mom to Ethan and was just stuck in a shitty situation with her father.
The doctor gave them the clear to go home first thing in the morning and allow Ethan to lay with his mother. She looked down at him as she smirked, "Ethan baby. I want you to meet your daddy." He looked up at her, "Mr. Grant is my daddy."
She hummed as she narrowed her eyes at me, "Yes, baby. He is your daddy." He leaned over to me as his little arms went to my neck as I hugged him. He laid his head on my shoulders as he fell back to sleep when Mariah looked at me, "How is he so comfortable with you already?"
I rubbed his back as I looked at her, "When I found out that he was in the daycare center. I visited him once a day to spend time with him. I didn't care if he was mine or not. He seemed to trust me and needed a friend." She laid her head back, "I wish you talked me first before injecting yourself into his life, but I understand. I am sure you felt confuse."
I chuckled, "Trust me confusion wasn't the word for how I felt. I just wish I could have helped you through everything while you was pregnant and his past three years of his life."
Next morning Chris popped his head into the room as he knocked lightly, "Is everyone ready to go." I looked at Mariah and Ethan sitting on her hospital bed, "I think we are."
I walked over to Ethan as I took him from Mariah's arms then Chris gave her a hug, "I am glad you are all okay." She smiled at him as she thanked him. I held Ethan as he laid his head on my shoulder as Chris turned to him, "You must be Ethan." He hid his face as I pulled my head back, "This is your Uncle Chris."
Chris smirked at him as Ethan gave him a small smile. Mariah looked at him, "Don't take it personal Chris." He chuckled, "I already know about his social interaction."
She tilted her head to me as I smirked at her, "Ms. Carry told me about the autism." She nodded as she whispered, "I am going to kill Ms. Carry." I chuckled as we walked out of the hospital.
We piled into Chris's SUV when I asked him, "Everyone got out okay?" He nodded, "Lucky everyone no one was serious hurt." I sighed as I looked at my phone, "And how did the fire start." He brushed his fingers through his hair as Ethan held my hand and his mother's, "It was a grease fire. The person who was supposed to clean out the traps didn't do his job. The restaurant and fire department is looking into the kid."
I nodded as I smirked at Mariah, "As long as everyone is okay. We can rebuild." Chris tilted his head as he looked into the review mirror, "My real estate buddy said there is a bigger location that just came on market that we could move all the offices to there. He said it is prefect for what we built."
I groaned as I laid my head back, "Will it be cost affected to do that way?" He nodded, "Absolutely." I nodded as I told him to place a meeting with the real estate agent for the end of the week and talk to all the businesses that was in our build as well any that was surrounding the area that was damage.
It made sense to have them all move into the new location if we decided to move and give the building up to the city to do what they want with it. It would be hard to sell it where there is so much fire damage.
Chris pulled into my driveway as Mariah looked at the massive house as her eyes grew, "We are going to be living here?" I chuckled as I opened the door, "Welcome home."
We walked through the door as my mother walked out of the living room, "There you are. Is everyone okay?" I grunted, "Mom, what are you doing here?" She smirked, "Well I had to make a deal with your brother to tell me when my grandson was coming home."
Ethan hid his face in his mother's neck as I groaned, "Mom. I was going to call you later once they got settled in." Mariah leaned to me, "So they all know?" I narrowed my eyes at Chris, "Because of big mouth over there." He chuckled as he shrugged his shoulders, "Sorry, not sorry." I rolled my eyes as my mother walked over to Mariah.
Mother gave her a hug as Ethan was squeeze in between them. Poor kid. When she pulled away, she cupped Mariah's face, "Welcome to the family, Mariah. You can call me Carol or mom." My father stood in the doorway of the living room, "Well, the kid looks like you, Liam."
I rolled my eyes at him, "Yes, dad. He is a spitting image of me." My mother tilted her head as Mariah placed Ethan down to check the place out, "I have your room all set up for you. You want to come with me and check it out?"
