The POV of Hailey
I just got out of the last class of the day and decided I was going to go to the gym. In math today, I've been trying to find new gyms that are nearby, but there's none. Some of them had been at least two hours out. I suppose I'd just like to figure out the moments Ethan's never been before.
Speaking of Ethan, which I don't want to do, but my subconscious is pushing me too, he hasn't been in class at all today. They were just gossiping about us now. Two girls dared to glar at me, moaning how jealous they were that I was dating Ethan.
Ew. Ew. No, no. I'm never going to meet Ethan.
I went to my locker and stuffed my English textbook with me. It was at least 10 inches high.
"Hailey." I heard his voice gossip in my ear.
I turned around to find he was a good two inches from my face. "Come with me." he snarled.
"No thanks." I spit in his face, and he just grinned.
"Too bad." He took my arm and proceeded to drag me across the busy corridor and back to the exit.
"What are you doing?" I said, unsuccessfully attempting to keep his hold off my shoulder. It's been impossible.
He wasn't responding, and I just gave up. I watched the girls in the corridor looking at him like he was chocolate.
I rolled my eyes as he opened the glass door and pulled me out of school. We were in the back of the parking lot where the teachers parked their vehicles. He dragged me to the middle of it.
"Have you seen the video?" he demanded, looking in my direction.
"Of course I have, people have been showing me it non-stop. It's annoying."
He scoffed at it. "Not only that, but humiliating. Do you know what it's like for me to have a video out there of a girl telling me what to do?"
I grinned and put on my tongue. "Aww, poor big boy is scared of a girl?"
His face was furious, and he pulled me back against the wall. His face hovered centimeters away from mine. I could feel his breath on my mouth, and he smelled like a spice. His chest was close against mine, and my heart began to pound fast. He smirked and bent closer, if that was true.
"Don't mess with me Hailey. You won't like the consequences."
"And what would those be?" I asked breathlessly.
His lips were brushing against my ear, and I took a breath. I should have felt him laughing.
"You'll see."
Then he backed off and headed back to a motorcycle parked next to the alley. I looked at him as he strung his leg over the seat and met my eyes. I was facing down.
"You comin'?" he asked.
I looked at the bike, and then I looked at it. He was so odd, behaving naive like nothing had happened. I shrugged, man. "Whatever."
I went over and brushed my fingertips over the back of the bike. "An XLCR. Nice."
He stared at me with his lifted eyebrows. "You know about bikes?"
I shrugged, man. "I know a little bit." I jumped to the back and tightened my legs to the ends.
Ethan laughed and grabbed my thighs, dragged me forward and wrapped my legs around him. He took my hands and put them around his waist and said, "Hold on babe."
I rolled my eyes as he zoomed in. My eyes were watering, but it was all wonderful. My dad bought a lot of Harley's and towards the end of the 70's Sportsters, so naturally, I've always grown up with them.
My grasp on Ethan's waist was tightened as he sped up. I could feel his firm abs under my palms and imagine what it would be like to run my fingertips through them. Instantly, I blushed at the idea.
"Where do you live?" he said loudly over the noise.
I told him my mail, and I saw him smile a lot. "What?" I asked.
He shook his head and turned the corner, bending along with him. "Nothing. It's just that I know someone who lives next to you."
"Who?"
He pulled out in front of my house and stopped the bike. "Me." he said, and then he jumped off with me, taking his lead. My mouth hung open in horror, staring up at the equally big house next to mine. It looked like the very same replica, except it was rotated.
"You?" I saw him flip the kickstand on his bike. "You're my neighbor?"
He smirked, then he smiled at me. My stomach was fluttering. What the fuck?
"Yep, now we can hang out more, " he said, laughing again, going up the stairs to his balcony. "You comin'?"
I shook my head and pointed to my door. "I have to change and go to the gym. You won't be there will you?"
I saw a glimpse of pain in his eyes, but I dismissed it. "Maybe."
I groaned and went into my home, getting enough of Ethan for a day. My mom wasn't home yet, a surprise, so I went upstairs to get dressed.
Right as I pulled my jacket off, I heard a few taps on my glass. I glanced over to find that Ethan was tossing pebbles at the window.
"What the hell do you think you're doing? You could break the window!" I said as I slid it open.
"I'm just trying to get your attention, sweetheart." I said. He smiled, man.
"Why would someone design a house like this?" I mumbled under my breath, but Ethan was overheard.
"What's the matter, babe? Worried about flashing me once in a while?" he beckoned. I dropped a pebble on his forehead.
"Ouch!" he snapped his lip.
I grinned at the acceptance and leaned on the frame of the window. Looking down, I never realized that there was a white vine ladder to the bottom. A lot of plants intertwined around it and stretched out to the light. Apparently, I've never remembered the big window across from mine that was filled by a horny teenage bad guy.
"Why aren't you out tonight?" I asked.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, " I said, holding out my arms, "it's Friday, I figured you'd be out for a party right now.
He smiled and shook his head. "Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm competing tonight."
I was lifting my eyebrows. "You compete?"
He nodded, guy. "Yeah, there's one downtown today by the Oaks Bar. You should come."
I was worried about it. Perhaps seeing a fight wouldn't be a waste of a Friday night. "Okay."
Instantly, he lit up and beckoned. "I'll see you at seven then, darling." Then he got up from the windowsill and closed it, still laughing and waving at me from the inside of his room.
