Chapter 7 Come Back To Life

Hester looked up at the hand that was about to fall on her face and endured it without blinking.

Ryan frowned and looked at her clear eyes. Since when did he even fear to see her eyes.

The slap did not fall, but stopped beside Hester's face.

Hester could even feel the temperature of his palm from the corner of her eye, and tears fell from the corner of her eyes.

"Why don't you beat me? Aren't you going to vent your anger? " Hester looked up at him as she wished. Her voice was choked with sobs, and her eyes were filled with tears. She was desperate and sad.

She didn't cry or make a fuss, but silently cried. She looked at him, not even questioning him.

Looking at her ironic smile, Ryan felt a pain in his heart. He lowered his hand feebly and clenched it into a fist in frustration.

"Hester, can't you stop doing these things?"

Hester suddenly laughed.

Stop?

Was she unwilling to stop? Who on earth forced her step by step? 'Who made me to do these things?'

Tears streamed down her chin and hid between her collarbones. She just asked in despair, "why don't you beat me?"

She still raised her head, and no one could understand the waves in her heart.

At the moment when Ryan hugged Linda, she was desperate and sad.

He just listened to Linda's words and sentenced her to death without even asking her a word.

It had nothing to do with whether she believed it or not. He just stood on the opposite side of her and hugged the person he loved, even if she was not going to provoke him.

She had to bear all this.

Hester was on the verge of breaking down. She covered her chest and choked with tears, but she still wanted an answer.

Why did he stop when he was about to slap her? Why?

She just wanted a little comfort. Even if he couldn't bear it at that moment, she was willing to bear it and try to hold on.

However, Ryan just looked at her. His eyes darkened and the veins on his arms bulged.

His drooping hands could only clench his fists tightly to resist the urge to help her nearly tottering body and to dry her eyes.

In the end, Ryan just pulled Linda to turn around and walk out, but no one saw the uncomfortable slide in his throat.

When Linda turned around, Linda was closer to Hester.

Hester watched her turn around and look at herself with a triumphant look. Before she could feel the pain, her calf suddenly hurt and fell straight to the ground.

Linda took back her leg complacently and walked faster with Ryan arm in arm.

Hester had wanted to hold Ryan's hand but missed it because of her kick. With a piercing pain in her belly, she indistinctly saw their backs as they left hand in hand.

The pungent smell of disinfectant.

Hester's long eyelashes trembled as she finally opened her heavy eyelids. She gently blinked, and suddenly saw Ryan standing at the bedside.

This was the hospital.

All of a sudden, Hester's heart ached.

She then looked towards Ryan and saw him looking at her with a complicated expression. He wanted to say something but stopped on a second thought.

Hester's heart sank gradually. Her fingers under the quilt trembled and gently touched her belly. It was very flat, and she could not feel anything.

So, this child is

She was quiet, but all of a sudden she covered her eyes and started crying.

It was the first time that Hester cried so heartbrokenly in front of Ryan. She said nothing, with the back of her hand covering her eyes, and her other hand tightly grasping the collar of her chest.

"Ah..." sadness spread through Hester's mind.

There were only her desperate cries in the ward, as if she had lost everything. She cried like a child.

Seeing her like this, Ryan also felt bad. Her desperate look was reflected in his black eyes, and she was crying bitterly.

Ryan tightened his lips and tightened his jaw line. He clenched and loosened his fists several times.

Finally, he leaned over slightly, his palms trembling, trying to touch her hair to calm her down.

Linda pushed the door open and came in before he could touch Hester's hair. When she saw the painful look on his face, she was alarmed.

"Ryan!" Linda hurried forward and grabbed his hand which was about to fall. "Ryan, I know it's all my fault. If I hadn't been careless, my sister wouldn't have acted like this. You can blame me."

Linda covered her mouth and wiped her tears, secretly observing Ryan from the corner of her eyes.

Hester, who was lying on the bed with her back to him, had already collapsed, but she still had to pretend to be strong and wrapped herself under the quilt with her back.

Ryan only saw her back twitching. The previous heartbreaking cries disappeared a lot with Linda's coming in.

But the more she did, the more flustered he became. He wanted to seize her, but he could only watch her go farther and farther.

There was a moment when he really wanted to hold her in his arms and tell her not to be afraid. He had everything, but he couldn't get over the barrier in his heart.

Linda's eyes were full of viciousness as she saw Ryan's forbearance. He hadn't forgotten her yet?

In that case, in order to get him, the whole play had to be done, and she pretended she was going to beat herself up.

"It's all my fault! It's all my fault! "

"What are you doing?" Ryan stopped her in time and grabbed her hand.

Linda held his hand back, tears streaming down her face. She blinked pitifully and said, "Ryan, I know it's all my fault. Just beat me and scold me, so that I can feel better."

"Get out!" Suddenly, Hester, who was lying on the bed, roared in a low voice.

If they wanted to show off, please don't show it in front of her. Please don't let her see such a play when she was so sad.

Ryan stared at her back, gritting his teeth. He wanted to comfort her, but he controlled himself, letting Linda pull him out.

The ward was finally quiet again. Hester bit the corner of the quilt, trying not to make any sound.

All her hopes were shattered. The child had given her a reason to insist, thinking that she could make the man she loved deeply change his mind.

But now, she had nothing, and Ryan had left her.

After a long time, she sat up and looked at the fruit knife on the bedside table.

Hester held the knife and put it on her wrist. Her eyelids trembled, and a red mark was left.

The door of the ward was pushed open. Seeing that scene, Alston was so scared that he almost fell to the ground.

"Hester, what are you doing? Put it down! "

Alston rushed over, grabbed the knife in her hand and threw it on the ground.

The cold metal made a crisp sound on the ground, which made people's back cold.

The voice was still trembling.
